OP Sec Working Title Operational security is an extremely important part of our everyday lives while in a deployed enviroment. This fact is amplified that much more when the deployment includes being stationed in a country where the enemy could go undetected, as our foes do not wear a uniform. In a war where there is no front, and as part of our out reach with the citizens of the country that we are occupying, it would be incredibily easy for our enimes to merge themselves into our everyday dealings. With that knowledge, it becomes ever more imnportant to maintain a hold of items that could easily be aquired by our foes. The easiest solution to preventing an unprepared operational security hit, aside from maintaining proper operational security is by reporting the incident as soon as it becomes known and by not obstructing any inquires made into the infraction. If the knowledge of an unintentinal security breach is made aware to the proper channels, the necesary steps in prevention can occur. Being prepared helps to reduce significant amounts of damages that can be done if left otherwise unprepared, and unknowledgable of any of the specifics of the nature of the breach of security. With that being said, it is without a doubt not the best course of action to keep such things 'in-house', or attempt to 'cover up' infrindgments of opperational security. By attempting to cover up an event as significant as an operational security breach, one can also infrindge on the Army Values. The army values are a guide line for behavior and conduct. As follows are the defenition of each values and a brief description as how each are affected by attempted cover ups; Loyalty Bear true faith and allegiance to the U.S. constitution, the Army, and other soldiers. The Brigade will advocate its commitment to the Army’s core values by focusing on Honor, Personal Courage, and Duty because these three values summarize what an ethical warrior must be. The other Army’s values remain important but focusing on three will bring clarity and simplicity. Honor is a “code of personal integrity.” This code ties the Army to the Nation. It is of course the soldiers’ honor to risk their lives to defend the nation. But it is also their honor to fight in accordance with American values. This essay will be about the importance of keeping the accountability of sensitive items and how the accountability of sensitive items affects the unit. AR 710-2 and AR 735-5 both cover the Army policy for property accountability. Some sensitive items are your weapon, military ID card, communication equipment, etcetera. Members of the military services should be aware of any insider threat indicators presented by others to ensure the proper steps are implemented in the early stages and safeguard classified information. At this point, we should understand desperate people in desperate situations mainly derive espionage cases. Following this, it is essential for all soldiers recognize any form of threats to our nation’s national security and report these incidents immediately before they can harm our country. Over centuries, the Army established and continues to validate itself as a Profession of Arms. As a department of the US Military, the Army earns this title by providing the unique service of defending the Constitution and the American people. In order to be a Profession of Arms then, the Soldiers that fill the Army’s ranks must be professionals. These professionals are morally and legally bound by the Army ethics to constantly develop their occupation specialties and apply them “ethically, effectively, and efficiently.” In being an expert of one’s occupation and using said expertise in morally just ways, the Soldier creates a reciprocal relationship where being an expert and a professional means living by the Army Ethic and vice versa. The Army as a profession is defined by five essential characteristics; trust, honorable service, military expertise, stewardship, and esprit de corps. These characteristics reflect American values and the Army Ethic. Each characteristic has its own importance and bearing on the Army Profession, but which one is the most significant? Just as doctors and nurses who serve in the medical profession exists to provide medical care, in their respective fields of expertise, to people who come to them for treatments.
