Buffy the Vampire Slayer hush is one of the unique episodes from the series because instead of having dialogue theres more musical cues. Theres an unpleasant evil presence its claimed to be “The Gentlemen” it has almost everyones voice in the town. One of the character named Giles find that the only way for this creature can be stopped is if a woman screams. But the group has to fight the monster voiceless which is Ironic because its the only way it can be stopped so no one else looses their voice. In the story we can see how Buffy Summer seems to be taking the leader role throughout the series. For example in the particular episode we can see how Buffy always seems to have full control of what she really wants to do. One scene really stood …show more content…
As soon as they hold hands, the vending machine slams against the door. It was super shocking to witness this because for a moment I thought tara seem to be a memetic character. This episode follows a Restricted Narration seems to be the outgoing theme on this story because we know what is happening alongside them. We don't see whats happening to those character who aren't as important in the series but rather we get to know the life of those who are the central of attention throughout the scenes. For example, a television news reporter states that everyone in Sunnydale has come down with laryngitis and the town has been quarantined. Knowing trouble is looming that night. But after this we don't know anything more about this reporter. The only difference I see its at the end where everyone seems to be getting their voices back. Also another drawback was when Buffy was getting trapped by one of those evil monsters. Overall this episode really portrayed a lot of different characteristics. It was a really different than what I usually watch. Some of the stuff in this episode were kind of unpredictable I usually like to watch stuff thats I at least know whats going to
For this paper, I have chosen to analyze the sitcom That 70s Show. This show follows the lives of a group of teenage friends: Jackie, Donna, Hyde, Kelso, Eric, and Fez. The show addresses many social issues of the 1970s, including: Sexism, sexual attitudes, drug use, and the recession. It also highlights many of the inventions and developments of the entertainment industry, such as the remote control and Star Wars.
The Twilight Zone and Full House are both two family sitcom television series expressing one group as a family to meet or reflect society. Full House, produced by Jeff Franklin, is a family who faces many struggles and obstacles that reflect many American’s in today’s society. The Twilight Zone, produced by Rod Serling, is a five season television series taken place in the 1950’s. This shows provides multiple genres in each episode followed by an unexpected plot twist leaving audiences thinking more in depth about the present time. Both television shows demonstrates family values and social norms to meet modern societies expectations through rationality.
The consequences of these people making their relationships expendables means they are pushing away and sacrificing the people that love them the most in order to obtain something they think they want/need, but overall has very low importance to their lives.
When I was in the third grade I was extremely obsessed with the Nickelodeon soap opera, House of Anubis. If you’ve never heard of it before, it was centered around an American teengaer in a British boarding school where the faculty was involved in some strange cult obsessed with Egyptian mythology and “The Chosen One.” On top of that there was four love triangles, child kidnapping, carrot eating competitions, masquerade balls, a disturbing amount of taxidermy, and a crapload of other random things. Yeah, that existed.
Ever since I was young, I have been watching tv shows like Burn Notice, Criminal Minds, NCIS, etc. It was always one of my interests. Ever since I started watching Criminal Minds, I have wanted to be a profiler. I want to because I enjoy the show, and I think it would be an interesting job. That is why I chose to do my I-Search paper on Criminal Behavior. My main question I want to focus on is “Why do criminals behave the way they do?”
The driving factors for the exploration were New Mexico having silver and riches as well as religious advantages. Spaniards thought that occupying New Mexico would keep their rivals away because they thought there was a water passage. The impact of Spanish exploration on Native Americans was negative. Many tribes endured violence and raids, so some more aggressive tribes would attack first. The Apache’s would go in and kill Spaniards that were trying to settle and in return, Spaniards would have slave raids.
The main character of the series is a young woman who is named Buffy Summers. Buffy's character is summarized rather neatly by Elana Levine in her essay, “Buffy and the 'New Girl Order”. Levine
The Television shows “Full House” is based on six individuals that live in one house that aren’t the typical “family”. The character Danny is a widower who is forced to raise is three daughters on his own. His best friend Joey and brother in law Jessie moved in to help Danny raise the girls. The three girls from oldest to youngest are: Donna Joe (DJ), Stephanie, and Michelle. In 1993, season seven of the television show presented episode five entitle; “Fast Friends”. This episode was based on Stephanie starting her first year in junior high school. Stephanie meets a new friend named Nicki, and realizes that Nicki and her friends are not a good crew to be associated with. Stephanie feels pressured to smoke cigarettes while in the school bathroom however, she decided against it. Stephanie really like’s her new friend Nicki but knows she could never become a follower. Meanwhile, Jesse and Joey begin to host a radio show and can’t seem to find a decent name for the show. DJ, DJ’s boyfriend, and best friend Kimie are force to pick a side. While watching this episode the cast displayed both verbal and nonverbal cues.
In vampire literature, there is always a mortal female willing to risk her life to be with a vampire. These females are willing to do anything to be with these immortal creatures for a lifetime of endless love, regardless of the danger. Is mortal love not enough anymore? With vampires, they seduce their prey in order to feed. Vampires intrigue women with love, sex, romance, and most importantly mystery. Vampires are much more desirable then mortal men, even though they can potentially kill you. Their love is endless compared to mortal love.
The difference between the intended meaning of media texts and what the audience actually perceives can be shockingly different. Producers of media can do everything possible to force audiences to experience their work in the way they want them to, but in the end they still take away many different meanings even within the same audience. Stuart Hall outlines this in his encoding and decoding model. One of the most apparent examples of this is the television show South Park. The television show South Park is a media text with the producers’ preferred meaning of being decoded as joke or as being satire, but many audience members take an oppositional stance of taking it seriously. This is clear from the examples of controversy when South Park aired episodes focused on Scientology, red-headed people, and Islam. Through these examples it is demonstrated that the producers of media have less power compared to the audience in determining the meaning of media.
Just how the forces of good organize themselves in each text reveals much about the assumptions about gender roles present in their cultures of origin. Buffy Summers, a teenage girl, is the Vampire Slayer -- "One girl, in all the world, a Chosen One. One born with the. . . the strength and skill to hunt the vampires, to stop the spread of evil" (Giles/Buffy, "Welcome to the Hellmouth") -- and her friends, the so-called Slayerettes, and her Watcher Giles only provide assistance and support. Dracula's Mina is merely a minor -- and weaker -- member of a large group of men, including her husband, who fight in order to protect her. Without doubt, the image of the petite Buffy fighting and killing vampires week after week forces the viewer to recognize her strength and power. Despite her physical passivity in the novel, "sweet-faced, dainty-looking" Mina reveals she too is strong and necessary to the fight against evil, even if in less obvious ways (226). Seward credits Mina's skill in typing and work in compiling hers, Harker's, and his diaries with providing the key without which they "could never have found the dates otherwise" (232). The information she provides while under hypnosis -- visions echoed in Buffy's prophetic dreams ("Welcome to the Hellmouth," "Prophecy Girl," "Surprise," "Innocence") -- makes
As with most controversial issues, it is clear that the media play a strong role in people’s perception and fear of crime. Psychologists have proven that cognitive biases can skew our perceptions (Fogg, 2013). Crime is very prominent is all media and Robert Reiner (1997) claims:
Even though she was a bad queen, she was the queen of egypt. In the beginning, everyone looked up to her, but towards the end, no one could trust her. They didn’t trust her because she thought it was always gonna be about her. For example, towards the end, she got in a fight with Rome and that led to Rome taking over. Cleopatra was bad, but equally good. She was born in 69 BC and died in 30 BC. Through her lifetime, she fulfilled many roles. Such as, Queen, Wife, Mom, Girlfriend, and more. Some people saw her as being the most powerful ruler in Egypt, but some saw her as being the most evil woman who lived. Since Cleopatra was the last ruler, she lived in the New Kingdom. Cleopatra ruled for more than 200 years after her brother and Father’s death. Cleopatra had a very sudden death. She poisoned herself. She didn’t want to get captured, so she poisoned herself by getting a snakebite.
The Walking Dead is a televised American drama series about a group of people trying to survive a zombie apocalypse developed by Frank Darabont. The series stars Andrew Lincoln as sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes, who awakens from a coma after the world yields to a zombie plague (Griffiths, 2011). Dazed and confused from months in the hospital he wanders out to figure out why he cannot find anyone alive. He makes his way home only to find his wife and son missing. He sets out to locate his family and finds many other survivors on his journey (Tucker, 2010). The Walking Dead coordinates with many social themes such as
Moreover, viewers enjoy actively controlling what they want to watch as well as to skip over the parts they find uninteresting without being confused about the whole story. In soap operas, any key information which might have been missed is mentioned many times in the following episodes. So, viewers can even miss weeks and still have a general sense of what is going on.
