Game Changers Gene Krupa made contributions by running a school with Cozy Cole, running clinics, and running workshops. He also was associated with “Chicago Style” music. He was voted America’s outstanding drummer for his work (Fairchild, Frederick D.). Buddy Rich is known as being the most technically advanced artist for drum set in the 1900s. He became a part of the Hall of Fame in 1968 (“PAS Hall of Fame.”). Rich was a self-taught drummer. Through his aging, his talent and speed remained. He cared more about performing than his own personal well-being. He also made $1500 with an orchestra on the side. He would just write what he felt fit. In this, he is saying that sometimes the simple approach can be significant. At the rehearsals for a performance he was in, he played a simple rhythm throughout them and once the performance happened, he performed with something much greater.
