The Most Dangerous Game
I would consider The Most Dangerous Game as commercial fiction. The story is written with the purpose to entertain and as an escape for the reader. It is short and easier to read. Moreover, it does not require the reader to think a lot. The story has specific themes and a plot that a reader can easily follow. In the entire story, there are two main characters, Rainsford the protagonist and General Zaroff, the antagonist. The story starts in the yacht with Rainsford expressing the sigh of no fear and sympathy to animals when he was talking to Whitney. It describes how he fell off the yacht and found himself in the hands of general Zaroff a human hunter, who requested to pray a hunting game. General Zeroff explained to
With New York Times bestselling author Thomas C. Foster has introduced literary devices to help annotate and understand deep thinking when reading. Likewise, Richard Connell’s short story “The Most Dangerous Game” has examples of statements made by Foster on literature. The short story is about a hunter goes through the perspective of someone being hunted. Remarkably, literary devices provided by Thomas C. Foster accompanied a different understanding of the short story, The Most Dangerous Game.

The short story was written during the era when animal hunting was common with the rich folks. The Most Dangerous Game as the name implies, is indeed a dangerous game.
“Maybe you are searching among the branches, for what only appears in the roots,” Rumi states. When reading any type of literature just reading is not enough. Rumi states this looking at a general life, but when connecting it to literature, it is true. Do not just read, try to connect with the characters and look deeper at the settings and weather. In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, a hunter named Sanger Rainsford swims to Ship Trap Island “accidentally”. He comes upon another hunter there who is strange. This man is named Captain Zaroff. He is strange for two reasons. One, he believes hunting people is fun, and two he thinks of it as hunting and not murder. As Rainsford figures this out, he wants to escape the island. This is only possible if he can escape Zaroff in three days, which has never happened before. As people read the whole story, pages fly by and words go in and out through their ears. They are not able to understand and dig deeper into this short story. An informative literary analysis, How to Read Literature like a Professor: For Kids by Thomas C. Foster can help. Foster talks about the ways to dig deeper into a book and how to look through a character. In “The Most Dangerous Game” there is not just a plot, but another story, using How to Read Literature: For Kids will help the reader dig deeper into the story, seeing many things they have never seen before.
The Most Dangerous Game was a story made by Richard Connell in 1924, and had a movie adaptation in 1932. The short story tells about a man stranded on an island by the name of Rainsford. He finds Zaroff, a general with a great lust for hunting, who hunts people and Rainsford himself going to be hunted. He then attempts to outwit the general and ends up possibly taking his place. The film tries to encapsulate the excitement and story of the original version with more enticing visual effects and mostly succeeds. Although the film shares many themes and characteristics as the story, it has also changed many key factors.
Have you ever been hunted down by a psychopath war general, rabid pack of dogs, and a giant mute knouter named Ivan, and escaped? “The Most Dangerous Game,” by Richard Connell, is about a man named Rainsford who gets stranded on an island with an insane head honcho on a small, isolated island in the Caribbean sea. Behind every work of literature, are literary elements that make it successful. “The Most Dangerous Game” is successful due to descriptive imagery, suspenseful plot, and ability to get to the point.
How would it feel to suddenly go from being the hunter to becoming the prey? That is exactly what happened to Rainsford, one of the main characters in The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell. Rainsford was a big game hunter who accidentally fell of of his yacht. He swam to a nearby island, and there he met General Zaroff, a cruel man who hunts humans for sport. In exchange for release from the island, Rainsford agrees to be hunted by Zaroff. Consequently, Rainsford is a survivor because he kills Zaroff and wins the game. Rainsford is also a survivor because he demonstrates the qualities that a person must have to be considered a survivor. Although Rainsford is a survivor, Zaroff is not. To be considered a survivor, a person must go through a traumatic or life-threatening experience but still demonstrate resilience and determination.
I will be comparing the video verion of The Most Dangerous Game to the story.
Imagine being on an island, with no laws, no society, just the need to survive. When a normal hunter is going to Rio to hunt, the story takes a wild turn and ends up inverted, with the hunter becoming the prey. This is the plot of Richard Connell's short story, ”The Most Dangerous Game”, this short story was unique and interesting to most readers because of the series of unfortunate events. In “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, man vs. man, along with man vs. self can lead to an unexpected resolution.
Who would you rather face in the middle of the night? A murder that kills people for fun, or a crazy man that buries people alive and screams in their face because he is crazy. In the story The Most Dangerous Game By Richard Connell, is based on an island where this man lives and he hunts animals. But he gets bored hunting animals, so he starts hunting humans. Ranisford just so happen to be one of those people. The second story The Cask Of Amontillado is about a man whose wants to get revenge on someone so he takes him into the catacombs, and he buries him alive by filling the room with mortar and brick. The one that I think that is the most Disturbing is The Worlds Most Dangerous Game
People are like onions; they have several layers and consist of a bitter core. In consideration of this reality of human nature and reality of a man-made society, “The Most Dangerous Game”, written by Richard Connell, reveals these dangers. It unveils the truth about blood lusting hunters and defines the meaning of civilization. In the story, just like in the real world, so-called rules and laws are made to suppress and dignify human savageness. Here, Sanger Rainsford and General Zaroff are two essential characters—capable of virtuous actions, yet prone to decisions that reflect immoral tendencies, and so; a message is conveyed: without the practice of morals and consequences, corruption of man is inevitable.
One of the most relaxing things to do is read a good story. In the stories there are interesting elements such as suspenseful events, interesting characters, and deep themes. Here are examples of important literary elements in stories.
“Empathy is about standing in someone else’s shoes, feeling with his or her heart, seeing with his or her eyes. Not only is empathy hard to outsource and automate, but it makes the world a better place.” Daniel H. Pink’s quote relates to Richard Connell’s fictional short story, “The Most Dangerous Game,” where the main character, Rainsford, learns to grow empathy to others situation and feelings. Connell uses this short story for readers to grasp a deeper concept besides just a fun read while connecting with Thomas C. Foster informative literature How to Read Literature Like a Professor; For Kids.
Sanger Rainsford is a civil man who respects human life in the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game,” written by Richard Connell. Rainsford thinks killing humans for sport is inhumane and murderous. On the other hand Zaroff is unintelligent, overconfident and finds hunting humans for sport is normal and entertaining. Rainsford also being knowledgeable and polite and is proved multiple times in the text by quotes, details and thoughts of Rainsford and General Zaroff.
Underestimation and cruel actions lead to many things. In “The Most Dangerous Game,” author Richard Connell reveals a conflict between main characters, General Zaroff and Rainsford. Rainsford was to play the most dangerous game, created by Zaroff, because the only way to survive, is to win it, otherwise death is the only other option. As demonstrated through the use of personification, symbolism, and repetition in the story, it conveys that one should understand to never underestimate another person and remember that there will always be a consequence for the wicked things that one has done.
I would describe this story as both commercial and literary fiction. It is a literary fiction story because it is unpredictable and has unexpected ending. In the story when Rainsford approaches the house General Zaroff, accepts him with admiration. He seems to be showing him a new way of life and thinking but the unexpected happens. When he refuses to indulge in the general’s way of hunting, the general decides to make him the new hunt. You don’t expect general Zaroff to make Rainsford the hunt. Another way that, “the most dangerous game” is a literary fiction is in the end. We as the reader expect that when he jumps into the river, he will swim off to safety but instead he swim back to the house and waits for the general. Adding to the unexpected
