One day at a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym, a newer white belt was feeling overwhelmed with the many techniques involved with the martial art and was wondering if there is an infinite amount of techniques in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He thought about the fact that it takes, on average, roughly ten years for a person to achieve a black belt and knowing this, he started to believe that there is not an infinite amount of techniques and the list of moves is just finite. He still wasn’t sure so he decided to ask his black belt instructor. After class that evening, he walked over to his instructor as he was mopping the mats and proceeded to ask the big question, “Coach, is there an infinite amount of techniques involved in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?” His instructor …show more content…
You see, not all black belts have the same cardinality and with each degree of the black belt, comes a new set of skills in their infinite Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey. Each black belt has different body types, flexibility, age, injuries that they have adapted to, as well as experiences, and the list goes on. The advanced skills that it took to become an adult black belt 20 years ago is being taught to children today as the art has evolved through the years and will continue to evolve due to the adaptation to the evolution. Each black belt has an infinite skill potential too, and this is dependent on an individual level. It all depends on how many days they train a week, the different training partners they have and the experiences they bring, and even experimentation of the art. This means that each black belt’s infinite skill potential is different and has a different cardinality compared to the rest. There is no way to create an infinite one-to-one correspondence between any of them. The only one-to-one pairing that can possibly be made will have to be a finite one that is paired all the way up to achieving the coveted black belt. After that, they create their own path in the infinite martial art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and then pass it along to the next student with an infinite skill
Through my life I’ve had many special accomplishments, but the one that meant the most to me was the time when I got my second degree black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do. I currently am a second degree black belt with 8 years of consistent training. My journey through this experience was not at all easy. In fact, I had to go through much dedication, time, and sacrifice. My training involved me going to practice 4 days a week, not including tournaments, weekend practices, and times when I went to practice when I wasn’t required to. All this training prepared me for tests that I had to earn in order to get my next belt; many people have failed, but I’ve never failed a single test. In my preparation for becoming a second degree, I’ve also had to assist
Verbal Judo is a 138 page book, written by George J. Thompson, Ph. D. and was published in March 2004. It is classified as a nonfiction, personal growth, self help and communication genre. Verbal Judo is based on the art of words and how to utilize them in various situations, in everyday life. The following three chapters left an impression on me; chapter two: The Language of Guidance, chapter four: The Language of Persuasion and chapter eight: The Language of Enforcement. They remained me of situations that have occurred in my own personal life, while I was growing up. This book has opened my eyes to think and solve problems from a different perspective then I would have done so before reading it.

These classes are the original categories for the fighters. Throughout the 20th century, numerous sub divisions came into play when fighters of various between weight classes were involved. These divisions became known as “super,” “junior” and “light” classes. Many clubs and organizations even use these classes to help student learn, gain skills, and improve their knowledge of the sport as a whole. The fathers in the boxing wanted their son(s) to grow up and be fighters as well or at least be able to protect themselves or the family without using weapons. Many even taught their son(s) at home or put them in clubs to train. At this time, people actually fought or disputes and did not run to get a

“Techniques, forms, and self-defense” Once he said this I felt as if all the black belts eyes fell upon me. I gulped nervously to myself after trying to figure out how to successfully defend myself from three of the daunting, large black belts who could easily pummel me. I tried to remain calm and collected but, my right leg kept shaking vigorously which I got control of eventually. We began the techniques portion, all three of us went at the same time doing all of the same techniques. After successfully completing the first three, I felt more confident that I could easily get through
"Well, the already existing martial arts didn't qualify enough" could be made, to go on the joking way. But, this one is true. Norris created the Martial Art called Chun Kuk Do (which means 'Universal Way'), which is heavily influenced by Tang Soo Do, the art he learned while in South Korea. Chun Kuk Do has a code of honor and rules to live by. The arts have been successful, and the official site of Norris lists celebrity clients of the likes of Steve McQueen, whom he taught Karate, Bob Barker and Donny Osmond among the others. In fact, when Norris taught Steve McQueen, McQueen in turn advised him to turn to acting. The two were very close to Bruce Lee, and attended his funeral
Being a black belt means to set up a good example. Younger belts look up to you and do what you do. If you fool around, the lower belts fool around, if you talk and be lazy, they talk and are lazy.
I have always loved watching the Rocky films. There is something about the brutish drive of a boxer that draws my respect. When his vision is blurring, and the crowd is whirring, and his conditioning proves insufficient, the fighter has to find a will to win. This transcendent drive is a tool that I have used throughout my lifetime. It has spurred my achievement and has taught me to obliterate my perceived limitations, just as Mr. Balboa did in countless bouts against ominous obstacles and foes.
When I started Jiu Jitsu it changed how I felt about being more social. One sunny day in a hot summer me I have sandy blonde hair and blueish green eyes I prefer to read books and be in loud places, my sister Cheyenne a fifteen year old that has blonde hair and blue eyes she loves to read books and pink items, and my nephew Nate is a hyper thrill seeking seven year old were all sitting on the couch trying to find something to watch. Going through the boring choices of movies we couldn’t choose anything then I flicked of the tv, and turned to Chey and Nate let’s go do something this is too boring I said with a little-bit of enthusiasm. Then we went on a hunt to see some fun things we could do we found Jiu Jitsu. Chey and I talked to Mom about our special activity, and she said she would think about is. Later that night I fell asleep hoping she would say yes.
Throughout world history people have enjoyed watching two men compete in hand to hand combat. Professional boxing made its debut here in America around the turn of the 20th century. Unlike boxing, mixed martial arts is a relatively new sport. Both sports are very technical and require their fighters to be in superb condition. Many fighters train all their life to make it big, but few ever get there. Although both sports are immensely popular, one stands alone as the dominant sport. In this paper I 'll prove that the sport of MMA is more technical, more exciting, and much safer than boxing.

Some ancient African styles or forms of fighting maybe evident, with records dating back thousands of years; while other martial styles are Mystical and Esoteric, therefore the lessons are for spiritual (Mental) development and identification. The FOA practitioner’s spoke about and exemplified many strange and imaginable styles that they believed had been lost or forgotten through time but to them were the basis of a true martial art by mere thought (Knowledge). The FOA brothers referred to these styles as the-

At the young age of nine years old, approximately eight inches under the average height, I was introduced into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Eight years later, I have recognized that joining was one of the best decisions anyone could make. With the use of detailed technique that applies leverage in a confrontation, size does not play the critical role in a fight many falsely believe. Personally, I believe everyone should be apart of the Gracie Barra: Organized like a Team, Fighting like a Family. Although the classes focus on learning proper technique and sparring, grappling is far from all that is being taught. From my own personnel experience sparring with marines, I have learned that one learns to stay calm while the blood flow from your heart to
