Good day everyone. Recently I have read a book called The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins. The main character, Katniss Everdeen is a girl who is courageous and versatile. Her strength and experiences in the Game and how she gets over her difficulties has motivates me. The Hunger Games takes place in a nation called Panem which consists of the wealthy Capitol and twelve districts united under the rule of the Capitol. As punishment for a past rebellion against the Capitol, in which district 13 was destroyed, a boy and a girl from each district are reaped to participate in the Hunger Games, an event in which the participants must fight against one another until only one of them remains. Originally, Katniss has no intention of taking part in the games. However, when her younger sister …show more content…
When she allies with Rue, she says she hopes that she does not have to be the one to kill her. And when it comes to Peeta, she tries to find the ways for both of them to survive. Moreover, she is determined and persistent. She fights for her family and her sister and she never give in even if it seems hard to stay alive in the Game. Her bravery and maturity brought her to face difficulties alone and overcome her fear throughout the Game. In addition, I can see how she cares about her family. Katniss is fiercely protective of her younger sister, and she even volunteers to take Prim’s place in the Games in order to protect her. In fact, Katniss is a responsible person that she takes up the job to ensure her family’s wellbeing. Katniss is independent and strong girl. Her past hardships have made her mature and she will endure hardship and hard work to take good care of her family. With her unyielding faith, she is angry with the Game, the Capitol and the ruler of Panem. She does not blindly follow what the Game makers request and always hold a belief of being able to come back home
The setting in the Hunger Games is not in the past or present, but in the future. The story takes place in District 12 and in a place called the Arena. District 12 is an old and very run down. It is a very; dull place of mines. The Arena is ;where the Hunger Games take place. It is a dangerous and scary place.
In the novel, the Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen does whatever it takes to survive in the Hunger Games. Katniss battles against twenty-three other children from the twelve districts along with hunger, cold, and sickness to stay alive in the games. Katniss must use many of her attributes to win the Hunger Games, such as her resourcefulness, caring, and determination.
Suzanne Collins, the author of The Hunger Games, imagines a world where people are divided by district just like the real world does with the high, middle, low classes. This book is full of themes, literary devices and also talks about how the government — in this case the Capitol — oppresses their citizens.
Katniss is the protagonist of the novel. She is a tough, self-sufficient, extremely loyal girl whose childhood was cut short by responsibility. After her father died, her mother sank into a deep depression, so it was up to Katniss to feed the family. One evening, she was going through others' trash in desperation when Peeta Mellark purposefully burned bread from his family's bakery and gave it to her. She feels like she owes him for that action, because after that she realizes the forest will be how to feed her family. She and her friend Gale regularly hunt wild game and gather food, selling some and keeping some for their families. Katniss dearly loves her younger sister Prim, so much so that she volunteers to go to the Hunger Games in Prim's place. Though Katniss could very easily feel bitter towards her more sheltered sister, instead she is fiercely protective of her. During the Games, this protectiveness transfers to another young tribute named Rue who Katniss grows very close too and mentors as she were an older sister to Rue.
In the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the main character and protagonist is 16 year old Katniss Everdeen, a strong and selfless young woman who is far more mature than her age suggests. As the main provider for her family after her father died, Katniss had to become responsible and resourceful at a young age, which forced her to participate in rebellious behavior in order to keep her family alive. She is an unselfish and protective character, putting herself in danger in order to keep the ones she loves safe, especially for her little sister Primrose. Even after the pain and hardships she has had to go through not only in the games, but in her life, Katniss maintains her

The Hunger Games written by Suzanne Collins delineates that there are times when people believe that all hope is lost but only those who are strong will persevere through their darkest moments. Suzanne Collins portrays the theme throughout the novel with the main protagonist, Katniss Everdeen, as she struggles to endure her daily life and the annual Hunger Games. Collins displays the prodigious amount of persistence of Katniss Everdeen and her comrade, Peeta Mellark, which allows them to survive throughout the Hunger Games.
The definition of a hero has been moulded and changed over time, but all heroes have shared some qualities, constructing our archetypal hero. Katniss, the 'hero' from Suzanne Collins, 'The Hunger Games' challenges and confirms our views of a typical hero. She has events like a heroes journey and a tough upbringing, but she also has conflicting attributes like simply not being a male. Suzanne Collins has created a complex character, who doesn't strictly fit into the mould of a hero.
“We had to save you because you're the Mockingjay, Katniss, says Plutarch. While you live, the revolution lives” (Collins). Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games is a complex character who epitomizes the archetype of a hero, however, she also shatters the mold by rebelling against the capital and endangering her whole family. She starts out as a hero to her family, especially her sister, and then becomes the symbol of strength to everyone. Katniss sacrifices herself by volunteering to join the Hunger Games in place of her sister, it is a game of survival where a boy and a girl from each district are forced to fight the other members of other districts to the death. By going out of her ordinary world and preparing to join a game where her life could be taken, she fits right into the archetype of a hero. Her bow and arrow, the weapon that only she can wield, will be the only things to help her survive. Despite these heroic qualities, Katniss makes an erroneous decision and blunder mistakes that shows the reader the flip side of Katniss.

She is just a Jewish girl who only wants to survive and live. The first time she made an appearance, she appears as a small figure running away in a distance. It shows her position as something small and close to nothing for Colonel Landa. When the camera zooms in to her, it can be seen how she is running while covered in her family’s blood. Her blood-stained figure makes such a contrast landscape compared to the green scenery behind her.
Katniss Everdeen is an adolescent girl who has been through a lot, emotionally and physically. She is not only a girl from District 12 but she is a girl who takes on challenges that she is not
Intricate female heroines set in a futuristic dystopia, battling for their lives and struggling to build a better world are components of the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. Beatrice Prior is a strong-willed, daring protagonist of the Divergent Series. Her life changes when she discovers that she is Divergent. Meaning that she has an unusual mindset that cannot be constricted to one way of reasoning. The government leaders view Beatrice, or Tris as a threat to society because of this. Comparable to Tris, Katniss Everdeen is the leading character of the Hunger Games. She proved to be bold and selfless when she put her life at risk for her younger sister Primrose. In both the Hunger Games and Divergent, the mighty female heroines are giving way to a new role for young women rather than the traditional damsel in distress. These two novels give women a voice, and express the importance of thinking for one’s self.
I did my book report on The Hunger games, because it is suspenseful, adventurous, and has tons of action. This is about Katness, Peeta, Haymitch, Effie, and the Games.
