Without innovators, without people daring to take risks, without people daring to move the world, society would never progress. As Steve Jobs once said, “I have a great respect for incremental improvement, and I've done that sort of thing in my life, but I've always been attracted to the more revolutionary changes. I don't know why. Because they're harder. They're much more stressful emotionally. And you usually go through a period where everybody tells you that you've completely failed” (brainyquotes.com). Bill Gates, like Steve Jobs, wanted to change the world forever, which he did. Bill Gates affected American history through his impact on technology while dealing with positive and negative criticism during a lifetime of success. …show more content…
They told MITS they had a software that could run on the Altair, Which in reality they didn’t. MITS bought into what the boys were saying and gave them a couple of months to prepare the software. They brought it to them in Albuquerque, NM, having never tested it on an actual Altair. The program ran perfectly. This is when Paul and Bill decided to build the company “Micro-soft”. As years went by Microsoft was beginning to grow exponentially with a growing number of customers and employees. As IBM was looking for a new software, they contacted Microsoft for the job. Bill had developed a similar software that could run Microsoft basic onto a personal computer. IBM and Microsoft had plenty of disagreements along the way until they finally parted ways after Microsoft wanted to license the software and IBM wanted to buy full ownership of it. After the dispute Microsoft exploded onto the scene with growing employment and quadrupling revenue. Microsoft and Apple worked together when the computers first started developing, sharing technology and making each-others work compatible with the others. They helped each other grow. Gates came up with a brilliant idea to build an interface that was mouse driven with graphic design. This sparked the creation of windows. As Gates advised mac to license their graphic design but they ignorantly ignored him. He took advantaged and built an almost exact look alike and called it windows. Apple was furious but lost its match in

The article inspired Gates and Allen to develop the first version of the BASIC programming language for the Altiar. They licensed the software to Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems (MITS), the Altiar's manufacturer, and formed Microsoft (originally Micro-soft) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to develop versions of BASIC for other computer companies. Microsoft's early customers included fledgling hardware firms such as Apple Computer, maker of the Apple II computer; Commodore, maker of the PET computer; and Tandy Corporation; maker of the Radio Shack TRS-80 computer. In 1977 Microsoft shipped it's second language product, Microsoft FORTRAN, and it soon released versions of BASIC for the 8080 and the 8086 microprocessors.
