The reason somebody under takes a mission is because they want to prove them selves or also to let other people know what they did or just to have the satisfaction of knowing they completed it. Like Bilbo Baggins from the hobbit he heard the dwarfs say he couldn't on the mission but he went on it to prove to them he could. Also Walt from the king of Mazy May he went to stop people from stealing his fathers claim. Also like Ernesto from barrio boy he had to learn how to speak another language and live in a new place but his teacher helped him learn English because he spoke Spanish. In "The Hobbit" Bilbo over hears the dwarfs talking about this mission they are going but they said he isn't a fighter so they can't take him. But Bilbo reminds them that he isn't just only a hobbit and lazy person but that he also has an adventurous side to his family and that his great uncle was a took and went on lots of adventurous. But the dwarfs said that was a long time ago and there was no record of when his great uncle won a great battle. But the dwarfs still didn't trust him to go on the adventure. But Bilbo still tried to make the dwarfs let him join them on the mission. So the dwarfs let him join because they needed someone that is smart and can steal things really well. So on the adventure he …show more content…
So Walt raced to put his dads name on the claim so nobody could take it so Walt took the sled and sled dogs and he raced the people who were trying to jump the claim so Walt had to dodge bullets and other sleds with dogs. So Walt made it there first and recorded the claim but he went on the mission to help his dad get his
The dwarves respect his many decisions that he had made with quick reflexes accordingly to the actions that are provoking him to take action in being a leader, saving his fellow expedition mates. Bilbo using his traits of courage, heroism and intelligence demonstrate to him that adventures aren’t as bad as the hobbits have always thought they were.
Bilbo is a timid, comfortable, and compact in his secure little hole at Bag End. Gandalf persuaded him into going on a quest with Thorin’s dwarves. Bilbo became afraid that he fainted. As the novel progresses, Bilbo prevails in the face of danger and adversity, justifying Gandalf’s early claim that there is more to him than what he thought. Bilbo’s journey fits into the tradition of a hero’s quest, because he basically went somewhere in order to gain something.
If it were not for his masterful ideas, then the dwarves may have rotted in prison. In the Misty Mountains, he was able to talk to Smaug and still live to tell the tale. Though, Bilbo did not start off as a hero. It was throughout his adventure that he became
Bilbo has shown his capabilities many times here are three major times, he fought giant spiders, he took the most prized possession the arkenstone, and he spoke to smaug. Bilbo is small yet he steps up to the plate a few times to save his friends. All of the dwarves were in webs and bilbo saved them all by himself. This is one of his major friend saves.
He was brave, smart, lucky, had an extra ability and he would give his life for his friends. At the beginning Bilbo Baggins wasn’t brave, but during the quest he became brave. He wasn’t strong, but instead he had other good abilities such as his stealth and his size, that were useful when he needed to go unnoticed. Bilbo had many good ideas because when the dwarves didn’t know what to do next, he always had the correct answer and save them from the dangerous situations. Bilbo was very lucky because when he was lost on the goblins’ caves he found a mysterious and magic ring that made him invisible. This ring helped him a lot because with it he could escape from many dangerous events that occurred during the novel. He risked his life many times to save his friends. Bilbo Baggins wasn’t the only one that had characteristics of a hero other characters also had them. Now, were a going to mention the other heroes of the novel.
He was actually forced to go by Gandalf. Bilbo was not who you think would lead a risky adventure. In the first few chapters Bilbo is very fearful and not very brave. Some may argue that Bilbo is not brave and and although this is a good point it fails to account for the fact that he was willing to risk his life or even die just to go see Smaug.
Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit living in the Shire having a peaceful quiet life in his hobbit hole. One day after living a life of leisure and pleasure he is awakened by a rude knock on his door. In a matter of a few hours he will meet the people that changed his life for good. The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien is a story about a hobbit and his adventure. His adventure starts with a knock on his door by his old Friend Gandalf. Gandalf then promptly asks Bilbo”I am looking for someone to share in an adventure”(tolkien). Bilbo then denies Gandalf and continuous with his usual day until that night. When Bilbo is about to eat his dinner he gets a knock. He opens it to find two dwarves Dwalin and Balin. Bilbo 's shocked but invites them in. Bilbo does this eval times until he 's left with thirteen dwarves Dwalin, Balin, Kili, Fili, Dori, Ori, Nori, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, and Thorin Oakenshield. They then invite him on a quest that would change his life. During his quest he faces many evils and overcomes them all to become a hero.
Hobbits, which is what Bilbo Baggins is, generally hate going on adventures but Bilbo wasn’t a normal hobbit, and that peculiar side of him made itself know when the dwarves entered his house uninvited. From there, they went through dangerous lands that almost gets them killed several times, and that peculiar side of
In the novel, “The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien, main character Bilbo Baggins experiences an extensive change in his character throughout the novel. At the beginning of the novel, Bilbo has no care for anything in the world that is outside of the Shire. He is an independent hobbit who keeps to himself and lives an ordinary life in his hobbit hole. He then embarks on an extraordinary journey which opens his eyes to the world as he overcomes multiple obstacles. He proves that any individual can develop heroism when needed to complete a quest no matter who or where you come from. He possesses many characteristics that lead him to being a natural hero, he is courageous, intelligent and loyal.
There can be many different things that cause people to undertake a mission. Such as, Walt Masters mission was to save Loren Hall's claim. A young girl, Farah Ahmedi, her mission was to get to Pakistan to escape her war-ridden country. Ernesto, a young Mexican boy, his mission was to learn English. However, all of these goals share the perseverance and determination to succeed.
Luck is an unexplainable thing, but luck is sometimes just a part of destiny. In J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy novel The Hobbit, the main character, Bilbo, accompanied thirteen dwarves on an journey to retrieve treasure stolen from them by the terrible dragon, Smaug. Over the course of the adventure, Bilbo triumphed over many challenges that became intertwined with his destiny. Bilbo is very lucky, but his adventures and escapes were not managed by mere luck; for he is a piece of something greater.
I confidently say that Bilbo is a hero based on his courage, leadership, and self- sacrifice for his companions. This type of hero does act courageously, and preform even he is scared. Bilbo’s courage is one of the dominant qualities in this journey. Because of his surge the dwarves get lonely mountain and find their treasure. He initiates this quality on his mother’s side “his make-up from the Took side” (PG 03).
Bilbo used to be one of the least adventurous hobbits out there. But he does things he never thought he would do, like accept the job as a burglar, and fulfills his duties as one. So in the sense, he gained an adventurous side of him he thought he never had. We see his adventurous side when he saves his friends from the prison of the wood elves. He could’ve just left them or begged the wood elf to free them, but he decided to wait for his one chance and escape with his friends. He stole the keys from one of the elves, set them free, put them into barrels and sent them all down the river. Now tell me what he did was not out of the ordinary or the least bit of adventurous. We also see his speech starting to change into an adventurer’s when he says, “I tell you the gold was only an afterthought with us. We came over hill and under hill for revenge.” First of all, he said this to the almighty Smaug, who could burn him to smithereens if he chose to. So he gained confidence as well, which came with the adventure side of him.
By putting his life in danger Bilbo shows a true example of heroism. Though the dwarves were still skeptical of his abilities, they were starting to take into consideration of what Gandalf had said about this little hobbit. Continuing their adventure the group is attacked by goblins where they are eventually saved by Gandalf. Throughout the turmoil of the attacking goblins Bilbo gets lost in the caves and finds himself alone in the darkness. It is in this event when Bilbo finds Gollum’s ring. Gollum was a sickly looking creature that had been dwelling in the caves for many years. Bilbo used his wits to outsmart the creature by playing a riddle game with him and eventually made it to safety. Having Bilbo win the riddle game shows that his smart and witty mind aids him in becoming the hero. Bilbo wasn’t some tough strong stereotypical super hero, he used his smarts to outwit his foes and to triumph over evil. Though Bilbo at the time did not know the power of the ring that he had retrieved from Gollum’s lair (the power of invisibility), it was his heroic fate that he found it as it assist him in becoming the hero of the story. Fate has it that Bilbo will become a hero, but Bilbo also has the courage on top of his fate to get the dwarves out of life threatening situations.
Have you ever been so excited to ride the tallest rollercoaster in the park only to wait in line for an hour and when you finally get to the top you begin to think to yourself, maybe this isn’t a great idea after all? Well, this closely resembles the feelings that Bilbo Baggins encounters in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit when he is faced with going on an adventure. His Tookish side shows through his enthusiasm about going on the adventure. His Baggin’s side shows through his hesitation when the adventure actually begins.
