Have you ever wanted to use cellphones in school? Cell phones have many benefits and positive uses that help students during school a lot. Although cell phones can be distracting they should be allowed in school in case of an emergency, to teach responsibility, and to help in school like homework and research. Cell phones are very helpful in emergencies. With cell phones, parents know if their children alright in an emergency. Which takes a lot of stress off the parents. Also, it is easy to contact the authorities ( police, firefighters, and the ambulance). If they forgot homework they could call their parents to bring it you. "Forty percent of cell owners said they found themselves in an emergency situation in which having their phone with them helped(Pew Research Center)". This fact states that cell phones are useful emergency situations. "Twenty-seven percent of people said that they experienced a situation in the previous month in which they had trouble doing something because they did not have their phone at hand(Pew Research Center)". This means that cellphone really come in clutch at times, especially during emergencies." Several students from Brooklyn Technical High School said they carried phones so their parents could contact them in emergencies, and that some teachers let them do this as long as they kept them tucked away and on silent"(SIRS Issues Researcher). This means that many students use their phones in emergency with disturbing the class. Cell phones can be a help in an emergency and also cell phones can help teach responsibility. Cellphones help teach responsibility. Students know they shouldn’t use their cell phones in school to play games, listen to music, and text their friend about the test they just took. It will prepare children for a real life job. According to Emily Weller "A cell phone can teach your child responsibility, since she has to learn to care for it, by keeping it charged and in working condition . This mean that they have to be responsible enough to have a cellphone.
