Ainsleigh McKinlay English 8A March 21, 2017 What Does America Mean To Me? To be an American. Many Americans take this phrase too lightly others, too strict. Many people say being an American is a privilege, other might not even think twice about being so lucky. Being an American does not mean that you go to baseball games every Saturday and eat hot dogs, but to live your life out to the fullest. It means that I can say “The Pledge Of Allegiance” everyday, and that I have the right to freedom of speech. Being an American means to help another, whether they be Irish or Chinese or Afghan or Muslim. Being an American means helping your enemy, even if you do not wish to, but you shall help with dignity and pride. Being American means that you
What does being an american mean? many ask this.. but do they TRULY know what it means ? Being an american means that you will not have to worry about another country's soldier banging on your door at an unruly hour demanding a place to stay. It means that you can have a peaceful sleep at night not having to worry about waking up to bombs and your house on fire and the sound of guns and people screaming.
What it means to be an American, to me it means to fight for this great country that our God created, the same god who made everyone of us. I also feel it's my duty if our country goes into a major war, then I feel I should go and fight for what's right. Therefore I also feel that everyone was made equal and we are the same we are people and Americans so why can't we all matter. To me no one is more popular or bigger than anyone we are all Americans and people, the people who think they are bigger and more popular than anyone else they like to think they are, but they really aren't. Like Hillary clinton she likes to think she is all good and she is all innocent of what the things we Americans said she did,
What does being American mean to me?As America is a first world country, world police, economic powerhouse, and land of the free. With an advanced nation like ours comes advanced ideals, beliefs, religions, so on and so forth. Cores are a fundamental requirement for a nation to successfully prosper and communication within ourselves and other nations is a must to prevent an economic collapse, eventually leading into failed state status. I see cores as spiritual possessions that you use as a celestial guide to govern your life and should abide by, at the same level as morals. As you read this opinion based passage, ask yourself, what American cores effect you?
Americanism has a different meaning to everyone. It defines who we are, and the country we live in. To me it means victory. All the wars we have won. The Civil war and the Revolutionary war are a symbol of America. Even we when the chances were very low we never gave up. All the great soldiers help us win. Americanism also means to be free. America gained its freedom from Great Britain. Free to do anything. You are allowed to do study anything in the world and pick your own religion or not have one at all. One last thing Americanism means to me is diversity. To be able to walk in a store where everybody is equal. No matter the race, color, or how you look like. In America there are races from all the world. All

In reality the American Dream is just living like any average American in the United States , living with the right to have life, liberty , and the pursuit of happiness. It means that Americans have the right to vote if they want , have the right to speak their minds , or even publish what they want . It is being a republic civilization with a national government system that limits and protects American citizen laws from being violated.
Americanism. According to the dictionary it means "a characteristic feature of English as used in the United States." To me it means a lot more than that. It means three main things to me like freedom, all of our needs are. When I hear the word freedom, I think about freedom of speech and the freedom of choice. In America, we have the freedom of speech. We can say what we want to say anytime we want to say it. The power of speech is often abused. People in America often do not realize how lucky they are to. Another thing that I think Americanism means is freedom of choice. From the time children are born and until they go off on their own, the parent or guardian tries to choose what is best for the child. Children choose their own destiny while
Being an American means a lot to me. I will name some of the main reasons for why it does. First of all, I get clean water. In other countries, most people get dirty water from lakes or ponds. If I get injured in America, there are good hospitals there to nurse me back to health. Some people don't have a proper house and other people have to live outside. In America, my family and I get to live in a house. Education is also a big part of America. If I hadn't had an education here, I wouldn't be writing this! Assuming that I wasn't living in America, things would have been different. I am glad that I am an American citizen.
What it means to be American? Everybody you ask this question to will have a completely different response. Some responses might have similarities but none will be exactly the same. In the beginning of the year my response was “To be an American means having a rich history, having opportunities to better ourselves, and having freedoms.” Unfortunately not everyone has had the same opportunities or freedoms. Native Americans, who are indigenous, dealt with having their freedoms taken away, less opportunities even though they had rich history in this land before it was taken away from them. Look at what Zitkala-Sa endured. Not only that, but African Americans have fought long and hard for freedom and equality as well. W.E.B. Du Bois stood for
As America has grown more diverse, the definition of an American has changed through the past centuries. America is not what it used to be, our nation no longer cares about giving and caring for others. Americans are so caught up in the commotion of being on top and not about what goes on in the world around them. There are many reasons the definition of an American has changed but these are just a few of the generalized reasons: how Americans no longer care for giving, society changing, and the desire for wanting more.
What does it mean to be American? I think that there are many definition and opinions of what it means to be american. This word can be interpreted in many different ways and to some people the opinions around the word american can be offensive. By reading all of the articles and short stories in class I noticed that there were a lot of definition in which the authors define the word american.
What does it mean to be an American? If this question were asked to ten separate people, their answer would all be different. The reason for this is because in America, people are free to be whoever they want to be. Anyone, no matter where they come or start from, if they work hard enough, can become anything they strive to be. I believe that because of this I think in simple terms, to be an American means to be inspired. It is easy to see how Americans feel, and have felt in the past, about their country and the American dream throughout years of classical writings and poems. “I hear America singing, the varied carols I hear.” (I Hear America Singing). I feel like this line from Walt Whitman shows that all Americans are singing their song.
American. Freedom, patriot, bravery, God. Land of the free, home of the brave. In one way or another, all these aspects fall into the category of being American. We can safely sleep at night knowing the bravery of men and women are fighting for our nation. To protect and to serve. We have the ability of choice, of preference. We are not controlled by a dictator, telling us what to do, what to think, who to pray too. To be American is staying loyal to this country and giving back one way or another. It lets us chase our dreams, it's only the matter of fact if we really want to chase those dreams. That is what makes America so wonderful, land of opportunity. Doesn't mean it will be easy, but the chance is given. Being American means being able
