I decided to major in Nursing because I knew I always wanted a career in the health field, but I do not want to go to medical school. At least right now I do not want to, but that may change in the future. Nursing interests me because I would have options about what kind of nurse I want to be, who I want to work with and the setting I would like to work in. There are a lot of topics that interest me as a nursing major. I’m mostly interested in the hands on experience and actually doing the clinical trials. I’m interested in that because I know once I start that I’ll be one step closer to my degree and that means one step closer to being a Registered Nurse. The areas that I think I will have some difficulties in are the science classes unfortunately. Science has never been my best subject, but I know I’ll have to put more of an effort when it comes to those classes. If I had to choose a minor I would pick Pharmacology. BeforeI had decided I wanted to be nursing major I considered pharmacology. I had an interest in it and I still do, I would like to do something with it. I believe that being a nursing major and minoring in pharmacology would go hand in hand with each other. Another minor I would consider is Psychology. Just as pharmacology would go hand in hand with nursing, psychology would also go hand in hand with nursing. Psychology would help me to better understand the patient’s behavior when treating them and understand people in general. There are many careers I
Yes this alternate major interests me. I've always been interested in the human body, physically and mentally. Being able to get into the depth of what it's like to get into the mental state of someone's mental being has always amazes me. Going into the field of nursing, I will be taking care of people through physical knowledge. But when dealing with multiple people and various emotions it's best to be familiar with the psychology of the human mind as well. Not only to understand the emotions of patients but also to be able to show empathy for all of the
As far as I remember I would always play nurse with my siblings and make them feel better. When my parents would take me to the store to pick up a toy, I always picked band-aids and pretend doctor kit. My long-term career is becoming a Registered Nurse, and my short-term career is the career I currently have as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
As a LPN I plan on working in long term care to spend time passing meds and being able to do assessments, or work at madigan hospital in hopes to be able to work in acute care until I get into RN school. I plan on working full time in whatever area I get a job in, most jobs offer classes to keep you up to date on what is best and safe practice. I plan to attend classes and seminars as provided to try and keep myself as sharp as possible in hopes to keep myself as sharp as possible for the safety of my patients and when the time comes for me to start school to be a registered nurse. I plan to take part in CEU’s. I plan to take classes to manage my 45 hours of continued education yearly I would like to take classes on medication administration
The tasks of a nurse fascinates me; I have had several opportunities to observe nurses in hospitals and I find their work intriguing. I have always been interested in the health field and performing the jobs of a medical professional. Ever since the age of twelve, I have known I wanted to attend a university and pursue a career in the health field. I have always had an interest in my science courses, specifically biology and chemistry and have excelled in these areas. I want to be able to receive the best education possible and make my parents and community proud. I wish to do more for my community than just being a typical nurse and I will be able to do more by becoming a nurse practitioner.
As a college student you are told to pick a major that you have interest in. As a little girl, I have always wanted to have a meaningful career. Don’t get me wrong; there are so many careers that have done incredible things for people and the world, but I wanted to find something I am passionate about. After earning my Certified Nursing Assistant, I am going to be a nursing
Nursing is a profession within the health care field that focuses care on not only individual patients, but also their family and community too. As a nurse, our goal is to attain, maintain, or recover patients to optimal health and quality of life holistically. Nurses also differentiate themselves in from other health care providers because of how they approach their patient care, training, and scope of practice. These are just a few of the reasons that I have decided to make nursing my major. There are many different specialisms with differing levels of authority and responsibility that are available with a nursing major, many of which can be obtained with a two-year degree.
Becoming a Registered Nurse requires many hoops to jump through. The Associates Degree Nursing Program requires two years of your time, patience, and responsibility. This can be obtained either through a community college or either at a four-year college as well. I chose to attend a community college do to the fact that I have to work as well attending school full time. Time management is a key factor to becoming a great respectable Registered Nurse. As a Registered Nurse you will be trained in Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, and also Nutrition. The typical nursing program prepare you with the basic nursing skill such as taking vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, oxygen levels), to Emergency care, Pediatric care, Obstetric care, and also Medical- Surgical care. All of the information obtained through schooling helps prepare you for the NCLEX, to receive your nursing licenses. I have had my heart set on this particular major for years now. I chose Nursing because I love to help others. I want to be the hands and feet of those who are in need. I have a passion to serve others and a love for those who are sick and may need surgery to also caring for those who had a baby and celebrating with them in that moment in time. I have found that in nursing you have to put yourself aside and put others before yourself. This is where I tend to strive and let go and let God do his work through me. As a nurse there are many options of field of work to choose from. Ranging from working
I currently study Health and Social care, psychology, and media studies. I’m most interested in health and social care since this is the subject that has taught me about the level of commitment and responsibility that it takes to become a nurse. Whilst studying health and social care, I’ve learnt many transferable skills. I’ve learnt how to communicate effectively with individuals and groups, I’ve learnt how to manage my time better and I’ve also learnt to develop my logical thinking which has enabled me to make a reasoned decision about applying to study a mental health nursing course at university. Above all else, studying health and social care has taught me about the amount of diversity that the career of nursing offers which has definitely developed my
I am enrolled to be in nursing education next semester. Upon completion of this course, I will become a certified nursing assistant. I have taken or taking the following classes: health science, medical terminology, medical therapeutics, rehab therapy, diagnostic medicine, and nursing education. As you probably can tell I am very interested in the medical field. In college, I hope to major in Pre-medicine or nursing to get me on the path of becoming a nurse anesthetist.
I believe that Nursing is the perfect major where I can help people by caring for their health and which will ultimately affect them their whole lives. I believe a Nurse Practitioner is able to make such a difference in our lives because they are not just a Nurse but in a similar way like a Doctor. Nurse Practitioners are able to care more for the patients than a regular Nurse. Attending the UCLA School of Nursing will help me become a step closer to becoming a Nurse Practitioner. The school is very prestigious and ranked as one of the top nursing schools in the country and is conveniently around my area. I will be able to give back to my community after completing my degree. I will also get a high-level education and cause a positive impact in the healthcare system around my community. I will be able to develop skills that will help me be able to work in a variety of environments and assist those in need. The skills that I will develop will help me develop as a leader and person by being able to communicate with different type of people and be able to cause an impact in their lives. I will be able to work hands-on, especially because the school is involved throughout the community with the clinics and hospitals. I would be given the opportunity to accomplish all this without having to go far from
I have take Biology I, Biology II, Chemistry, and Human Anatomy and Physiology. These classes have assured me that I definitely would like to pursue Medicine. I have also taken two semesters of College English and one semester of College Psychology through the SLU 1818 program in preparation for my college career. I recently enrolled at Lindenwood University in Belleville for the Fall of 2017. I have decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree as my first step to becoming a Nurse Practitioner.
Some people have many kinds of goals. It is hard to give exact number people who are majored in nursing, but one thing that I know is that the demography is very wide and large. This is because people have different reasons for majoring in this career. I believe the best reason for majoring in nursing is because it has wide varieties of a career that one can major in. I find myself to be a pediatric nurse as my career. Pediatric nurses have great benefits, good salary, and I love spending my time with children.
Quintilian once said “It is the nurse that the child first hears, and her words that he will first attempt to imitate.” I always loved helping people and I would turn on the television and look for shows related to nursing. “One Born Every Minute” was one of the few shows I watched on television that interest me and made me eager to want help with the birth of babies. This show captured the hardships and difficulty of giving birth and the experience of the procedure.
I chose nursing as my major for three reasons that are important to me. I have always been interested in the medical field, my own medical history plays a factor in my choice, and I love children.
Becoming a nurse has always been an aspiration of mine, I’ve always wanted a job that uses my caring nature and becoming a nurse seems like the perfect fit. Any job can be rewarding but working in the medical field where you can help save lives, make differences and be supportive at a person’s time of need is at the top of my list when I think of a rewarding career. I am choosing this course because I love learning new things and with a nursing career no day will be the same as the day before, so you will constantly be learning new skills, plus there are many different areas of nursing that you can go in to, so this will enable me to put my skills that I already have in to use but also learn completely new things.
