Why I Chose Nursing Research Paper

My academic career is based on the sciences, especially chemistry and biology. Throughout my childhood, I have been greatly exposed to the sciences. My mother was a nurse practitioner in a rural clinic, which was connected to our house. Consequently, the clinic became my playground and the stethoscopes became my toys. Therefore, I was always interested in how the body worked and what affected our health.

During my junior year, I fell in love with science, specifically Biology. My AP Biology class inspired me to pursue a career as a biomedical engineer. I was fascinated about the complexity as well as the simplicity of biology. When my AP Biology class was learning about biotechnology and the different ways scientists were using technology and medicine to cure patients, I was very interested in how technology played a big role in saving someone's life. That was when I started volunteering at the Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD.

I started volunteering at Boston Children’s Hospital that year and there is this one little girl, Lea, who was six years old, and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. A type of cancer in the blood that causes mutated white blood cells collecting in bone marrow. Lea was diagnosed when she was four and had been getting treatment ever since, although she never let it destroy her fun, bubbly spirit.

The career is chose is nursing, I chose this career because I love helping people, I am avid about making sure people are getting everything they need, making sure they get all of their medication so they can get better and can live a healthy life, Being a nurse you will record patients medical history and symptoms, administer patients’ medicines and treatments, operate and monitor medical equipment, explain what they do when going home. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills, talents needed salary and benefits offered and the duties for particular career when making this decision, with my help they could burgeon and get better.

The factor that made my decision to choose nursing as my major was mother, Esther. My mother has been a registered nurse for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, my mom would bring me to work with her on some of her night shifts at A.I DuPont Children’s Hospital. I remember going to each room and visiting the patients. It made me happy that my mom was their nurse, and was there to help them get better. As I got older, that feeling of me wanting to make a difference in someone else’s life never went away. There are many different types of nurses in the nursing field. My field of preference is to become a Neonatal Nurse. I enjoy working with babies, and studying closely on how they grow, and develop. Science has always been my passion. It started before Science Center of Iowa preschool and flourished throughout high school, where I took advantage of every advanced science course and enrichment opportunity. When I began college, I fervently pursued the biological sciences. I was fascinated with disease mechanisms and the functions of the human body. I began working at the Iowa State University Clinical Veterinary Pathology Laboratory where I delved deeper

During my early years at school, I liked the subjects of biology and chemistry. I remember how my obsession with the fine detail of microscopic structures and memorizing whole periodic table in ninth grade made me feel content. I chose to pursue a career in medicine as the study of human body fascinated me. I got myself enrolled successfully at King Edward Medical University to achieve my goal. I consider it a blessing to serve my community through a career in medicine.

I chose nursing as my profession because I always have had a desire to serve and educate others and nursing, which has given me an opportunity to do that. Nursing is a rewarding career that gives the greatest opportunity to save lives, comfort, and care for them. The nursing profession tends to run in my family and have inspired me to become a nurse as well. This profession is the most demanding and helpful profession in the world.

Some people have many kinds of goals. It is hard to give exact number people who are majored in nursing, but one thing that I know is that the demography is very wide and large. This is because people have different reasons for majoring in this career. I believe the best reason for majoring in nursing is because it has wide varieties of a career that one can major in. I find myself to be a pediatric nurse as my career. Pediatric nurses have great benefits, good salary, and I love spending my time with children.

Nursing has always been a natural choice for me. From the time I was a little girl I received satisfaction and enjoyment from providing care for my great-grandmother, ensuring my elderly neighbor wasn’t lonely, various forms of problem solving and all things science related. I choose nursing as my future career because I enjoy working with others, helping others feel better, and educating people. These three topics are all involved in what nursing is. I believe that nursing is focused on the holistic care of individuals and their families in order to achieve and maintain an optimal level of health, a great quality of life, and comfort. This is done through the promoting healthy living, providing a safe environment, preventing illness, and the caring for the individual and the family.

So many people say saving lives takes hard work and extensive training, but are they really dedicated to do the work it takes. Medical school takes hard work and so much time to do the work as being a nurse. Being a nurse you have to have the heart and the great skills to be the best care giver you could be to a patient in need for help. Not only are you impacting someone else life but you are also impacting yourself with the great benefits they offer you, the way the patients acknowledge you by your hard work. Nurses make sure they have the care they need. Nursing is one of the most longest working shifts in the medical field you will ever experience.

I was always undecided regarding the career that I wanted to pursue. As I got older and looked at many choices in careers I realized that I wanted to have a career in the medical field. Being a nurse interests me because it requires the study of the human body along with other great opportunities that nurses have in this career. I want to become a nurse because I like being able to help those who are in need.

I chose to be a nurse because this allows me to interact more with people. Nursing is a great profession; it allows people to influence and touch lives. I am willing to obtain this significant responsibility. I am keen to be there for the patients through illness, injury pain, loss, grieving, birth, growth, aging, and health. I consider myself as determined and vigorous. I have the desire and determination to accomplish my goal of being a nurse. I am also thoughtful, caring, and open. I believe that my desire and traits would reflect on me being a nurse and would make me successful one.

I chose this major because I like to help people. I chose nursing because I want to save lives. I’m interested in nursing also because of my mom. My mom has a lot of health conditions include diabetes, fibromyalgia, asthma, and gastritis. I help my mom on daily basis with her conditions. I love helping my mom. To me, being a nurse is far more than a job or even a career. It's an adventure, a continuous learning process that I embark on bravely each day, in search of life changing events and miracles. I consider myself to be a compassionate person who genuinely enjoys helping people, to positively impact people's lives by making a significant difference while achieving a lifelong dream, because of its endless variety and finally, I believe this is the best career path for me.
