My goals for the next ten years include becoming a Grammy award nominee, releasing a platinum solo album, and opening up my own recording studio. Upon completion of my goals I will be financially stable and content with the direction my life is headed. In order to establish myself as a successful recording artist I must maintain a strong work ethic, I must remain creative, and I must have an enormous sense of determination. These three traits are crucial to me achieving my goals as an artist. First of all, building a career in the field of entertainment is not a simple task. My hunger as an artist must be insatiable. I can expect to work at least twelve hours a day, whether I’m indulging myself in my writing or spending countless nights in …show more content…
Doing so will result in improved writing, along with a more stable view for the career choices that I must make. At this point it has been made clear to me that writing and recording music alone will not currently financially support me as an adult. In order to overcome this roadblock it is imperative that I form a plan B. A successful secondary plan needs to have some association with my original plan. In this case, my plan B is to open my own recording studio to work as an audio engineer for myself in order to save money and to work as an audio engineer for other artists in order to create a positive …show more content…
The competition for a job in the entertainment industry is intense. There will be a constant struggle to remain relevant and to stand out in my preferred line of work. I will remain determined and focused on consistently producing new music that sets me apart from other artists. In conclusion, my goals for the next ten years can all be accomplished by remaining focused on my future and continued hard work. Along with my work ethic and my creativity, my determination is what will set me apart from the thousands of other people attempting to enter the entertainment field. My research has taught me that in order to become a successful artist it will require a lot more than talent. My commitment, as well as my motivation will be
Your manager also helps you develop who you are as an artist; your personal image is being developed here. Do you begin to appear in public with other artists of the same level of success? Do you volunteer time and services for charitable purposes and do you begin to identify those charities whose interests you feel you can advance by your involvement? (Thall, 2006) This image will develop and change overtime due to the music industry environment and the people you become associated with along the way.
My goal in life is to pursue a career I will love participating in and commit to fully.
“You’ll never make a living as an artist,” a phrase I have heard nonstop from family, friends, and just about everyone growing up. A phrase I constantly told myself while trying to pick my major when I made the big transition in going to college. Coming from a family of doctors, veterinarians, and other various medical careers, it was almost unheard of to pursue a career in the arts. I explored business, advertising, teaching, and many other careers, but in the end, I decided to place happiness over wealthiness and I chose to go through with a career path in Visual Communication Design. Looking more into an art major and questioning if I had made the right decision, I learned that so many of the things people say about artists are just rumours or myths. In today’s society, artists are not starving, they are thriving and we need them to keep the world running. Unlike myself, many people decide to not get a job in the arts because they listen to the false claims of the people that tell them that they will become a starving artist and have no money. In reality, creative jobs are extremely needed in today 's society, and there are actually very many perks in pursuing an art career. Some of the many perks include, being known to make an average amount of money, have little to no decrease in job outlook, being statistically happier than other careers, while making others and the world around you a much more positive place.
Initially, I thought I wanted to be a singer but I eventually came to the realization that singing was too comment and that most singers were a dime a dozen in the industry. So I decided that in order to save on the cost of hiring producers and to have more control over the music, I’d learn how to produce music myself. I purchased my very first
As an artist, there are three current self-promotional career goals I have to achieve. My first goal is to be a freelance artist by selling my own artwork online. Most of my artwork consists of concept arts and traditional drawings. My second goal is to publish a children’s illustration book that I made before attending Art School. My aim is to sell my book towards children between 7-12. My final goal (and most important) is to apply for an intern at Pixar animation. I already saw a couple of interns that worked at Pixar and they said it was the mostly enjoyable career they ever have. These are my three goals and there are many steps to take in order to fulfill this dream.
I was inspired by an instrumental math rock band called Chon whom I went to see perform in august. The band were astonishing performers and I thought it would be an exciting and challenging opportunity to write for an instrumental act. I have been composing songs since I was around fourteen years old and my methods mostly consist of listening to music and “jamming” different musical Ideas. I use a mix of a Boss loop pedal and Logic pro X as well as 6 string bass guitar, Electric guitar & programmed drum loops. The process is messy but is mostly just constructed around the timed point of improvisation I found by spending time playing and having fun with my riffs and song structures I would never struggle to find ideas. The main perimeters of this project were I wanted the songs to be written mostly for a trio I find trio’s really exciting to watch live and feel they are a well balanced musical engine. I also spend time writing and performing in a 6 piece called Pronto Mama and my experience from this is that it’s very time consuming to write with six people trying to contribute. I have been writing and performing with Pronto since 2012 s I have a lot of experience writing with a group of people I knew this project would be an opportunity for me to write whatever I
Many people have dreams of being a part of the music industry and becoming successful musicians, but do not seem to do the research necessary to make the dream come true. The music industry is a branch of the entertainment industry and is where music, whether it is recordings or performances, is distributed and sold to the public. One of the problems is that people do not realize the risks that come with being a part of the music industry and being a musician. There are many factors that come into play when deciding to pursue a career in the music industry. Factors would include having noteworthy knowledge of music, originality, publicity, and business entitlement.
The strategies I bring is that I am very passionate about what I do. I always give it my all. I will not get mad about constructive criticism. I feel like me and Kanye West if alike. He is my favorite artist. First it was the music, but when I see how intelligent he is it made me look at him another way. We are alike. We want to do the music nobody wants to. I would love to work with Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and Elton John. I don’t want to stay limited in just doing Hip-Hop and R and B. I would love artist to be comfortable in expression themselves. I want them to know that I am here for them.
Now that you have a home recording studio, the hardest part begins. You have to learn how to
I love working with talented people from any of the artistic disciplines, it is always a thrill and also very challenging. I want to continue doing this composing for festivals, film, and theatre. But mainly, I want to make a living working in the music industry. Therefore, I foresee that the projects the I do will always be varied from writing pop arrangements to composing for symphony orchestra's.
You don’t need a lot of talent or good music to make it big in today’s recording industry but that doesn’t mean that it’s easy for everyone, regardless of your talent to be successful. Nowadays you don’t need a million dollar studio to produce your own music and because of websites like Sound cloud and Facebook you don’t need studios to promote your music. There are a lot of artist who have found success using these resources that it has created this false sense that being successful in the industry is a reachable goal for anyone who thinks their music is good.
Some of these abilities are “public speaking skills” (“Traits and Skills”), it is important to have public speaking skills because they are necessary for life. People always talk about being shy and that makes it harder to get jobs and to work with other people. Also while working with other people you have to “act with maturity and discretions in sensitive issues” (“Traits and Skills”). This is very important while working with people, bands, and artist because if you are not serious with them then they are not serious with you. An other needed abilities that ties in with speaking is to “be an influential community advocate for music and music education” (“Traits and Skills”). This is crucial because right now people get to do this profession but people have to encourage and pursue the next generation of children so this keeps going on. To be a good music producer you have to be a good politician and diplomat (“What is a Record Producer?”). At first it is confusing why a music producer has to be a politician, but it is important to know this because politicians represent a race or candidate and that is in a way what music producers are. They represent their music and the people that listen to that music. With the responsibility of that you must also have the confidence and integrity to make difficult decisions (“Traits and Skills”). This is very important because a producer needs the confidence to hire or fire people
We are defined by the impact we have on the world and the vision we leave behind for others. With art, I know that all things are possible, but to be a true artist is to truly understand what art is and how to communicate beauty, pain, struggle, laughter and love to the world. I am pursing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre, Performance and I believe this program will allow me the opportunity to grow as an artist and a person.
