Marine Biology
Only five percent of the world’s ocean have been explored, want to help discover the other ninety-five percent? Want to help save the planet by keeping our oceans clean and keeping residents aware of the problems in the ocean? Help save endangered species? There are several areas of studies in the marine biology field. However they all look at completely different areas of Marine Biology. Becoming a Marine Biologist can be very difficult. Marine biologist study a wide range of topics. First, “They may investigate the behavior and physiological processes of marine species” (What Is a Marine Biologist). They might observe a group of whales and how they react with each other or other groups of marine animals. Also, marine biologist

The first would be Micorobiology- which is the study of “microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, protozoa and algae”( What Is Marine Biology). They look at marine ecosystems and how microorganism play a role in the them. Another field of study would be aquaculture and fisheries which is where biologist “protect biodiversity and to create sustainable seafood sources because of the world's dependence on fish for protein” (What Is Marine Biology). Researchers keep tabs on how many fish are anual caught and the decrease in the fish population due to fishing. The Field that many marine biologist are interested in is Marine Mammology. This is “the study of cetaceans—families of whales and dolphins, and pinnipeds”(What Is Marine Biology). These animals are the most amazing species and that is why this field is very …show more content…
First, “A bachelor's or master's degree typically is required for entry-level marine biology research jobs”(What Is a Marine Biologist). Along with the master’s degree, some jobs require a doctoral degree as well. While many schools have classes for Marine Biology, most entry jobs require “many students graduate with bachelor's degrees in biology, zoology, fisheries, ecology, or other animal sciences”(What Is a Marine Biologist). Finally after all this, most jobs want “Classes in chemistry, physics, mathematics, and statistics”(What is a Marine Biologist). There is a lot of degrees you can get to be a Marine Biologist however, students should just specialize on one or two fields of
Although there can be certain cons to pursuing marine biology as a profession, there are an abundant amount of pros to living this life. In addition to learning about marine creatures, marine biologists also help develop medicines and find different cures for sicknesses ("What is Marine Biology?”). Marine biologists get to see amazing aquatic places and animals that are very astounding and beautiful. I have wanted to be a marine biologist since I was five years old I never saw myself being anything other then that. After reading five articles and writing this essay, I cannot wait to go to college and become a marine biologist. The ocean takes up 96.5% of the surface of the earth. There are numerous amounts of mysteries that make up the deep-sea and without the help of marine biologists they would all be
Hello, I’m a student from Vaughn International Studies Academy. We have been given the opportunity to be a part of a job shadowing project in our school for us to know what we want to be in the future. For me it will be an amazing opportunity to job shadow a marine biologist at the aquarium of the pacific because it can prepare us for the future.Doing this project will inspire me to know what I will want to do once I get older, so when I go to college and then get a job as a marine biologist. I would want to see what exactly marine biologist do and what is required to go into this particular field. According to the aquarium's website, the marine biologist there, study and take care of the animals in the exhibits in which I would like to do
A Marine Biologist Will be a Right Careen Scientist for You ! Marine biologist are scientist that study water bodies, performing a number of duties that vary by the specific job. They may research experiment or create plans for action to improve and sustain aquatic life, healthy, and productive. Marine biologist spend many hours in oceans, lakes and rivers studying plants and animals, in addition to the time spent in the classroom learning about the sciences applicable to marine biology. Marine scientist study and analyze ocean ecology and aquatic life.
Some schools offer a marine biology degree and most of these are located in coastal states, but the undergraduate degree need not be in marine biology. It can be in biology, zoology, fisheries, or one of the other animal sciences. Physical oceanographers, who study the physical as opposed to the biological aspects of the sea, may work toward an oceanography degree, with coursework weighted heavily in physics, mathematics, and computer modeling. Biological oceanographers study both the biological and physical aspects of the sea and their interactions. Your best bet would be to refer to the guides mentioned above and contact the schools that interest you and learn more about the programs and degrees they offer. A bachelor's or master's degree is usually required for most starting marine biological research jobs, but you should also be aware that the usual level of education required to carry out independent research in biology is a Ph.D., so if you are serious about a full-time career and want to organize your own research projects, you should get your doctorate.
I knew that they worked with animals and that they studied the oceanic environment. They work on in the ocean and on land, depending on the task they work in groups or alone. Also, with marine biology I feel like one of my strengths is that I love being around the ocean and I love working with people.
A major in either biology, chemistry, or physics is required. Biology is the preferred major though. Chemistry or Physics will still be able to get you through. A few of the classes required that you take in college are Ecology, Genetics, Molecular and Cellular biology, and Evolutionary biology. There are also a lot of other classes you could or should take.
Oceanography also called oceanology or marine science, is the branch of Earth science that studies the ocean. It covers a wide range of topics, including marine organisms and ecosystem dynamics; ocean currents, waves, and geophysical fluid dynamics; plate tectonics and the geology of the sea floor; and fluxes of various chemical substances and physical properties within the ocean and across its boundaries. These diverse topics reflect multiple disciplines that oceanographers blend to further knowledge of the world ocean and understanding of processes within it: biology, chemistry, geology, meteorology, and physics as well as geography.
The dream of having majored in marine biology is one thing, but to get to have a marine biology degree is a fifth grader’s dream come true. The environment is heading in a rough direction. For example, ocean acidification is already a problem. The decrease in pH of our ocean acidity is causing coral reefs to die out—which houses thousands of organisms’ homes and food sources. Due to the contaminants, we release into the natural environment, we are slowly losing ecosystems every day. Therefore, I want to be the researcher to help save the oceanic life from these horrible conditions. Also, the career of marine biology can take a person anywhere, from the coasts of the Bahamas all the way to the depths of the Arctic Ocean. This provides the advantage
As I've researched, marine biologists must achieve at certain skills, such as: public speaking, science, critical thinking, reading comprehension and active listening. I succeed very well in all of those skills, yes, some more than
If you are interested in adventuring the depths of the ocean, being a marine biologist is the job for you. As a marine biologist you will need to have several years of schooling in order to have a successful career. Being a marine biologist can be an enjoyable and dangerous job, but the journey is worth the ride.
When I was first interested in marine biology it was because of my fascination with the unknown. Now, almost ten years later, it has evolved from a fascination to a fire. I want to make new discoveries that change the face of marine
The idea of being a marine biologist attracts me surely because it seems like an intriguing job; however, it was when I had done the research necessary to complete the business portion of this project, it drew to a conclusion: me becoming a marine biologist may not be worth it.
For example, To become a biologist, you will need to able to analyze data, and to have problem solving skills (Baylor College). This is an important requirement, because biologists need to be able to solve problems, whether it be solving a problem that could affect the ecosystem, or simply solving a problem in your workplace. You will also need to able to interpret information given to you be researchers so you can correctly do your job (Marine Biologist). It heavily varies from job to job, but many positions require prior experience in the field of biology, such as a prior employment as a biologist (Jumbo Squid). This is important because, you will need to know where to start, and where to work, to be successful in the field in of biology. Lastly, you will need to able to travel and to work as a team to become a biologist. This is important because your job will require you to travel to different parts of the world, and work with a team to research different living
Growing up and being an aquatic biologist isn't something you would ever regret. Aquatic biology is so complex and there are so many things to know and do with it. The environments in which aquatic biologist study are probably
Marine biology is the study of organisms in the oceans and other saltwater environments. Including their behavior and interactions with the environment. All plant and animal life forms are included from the microscopic pico plankton al the way to the majestic blue whale. Marine biology is a very broad area so most researchers select a particular area of interest and specialize on it. The specializations can be based off on a particular species, group, behavior, technique, or an ecosystem.
