In today’s society, there are many responsibilities that pertain to becoming a healthcare manager. These responsibilities not only consist of physical requirements, but also, must have mental requirements. When we think about what a good manager entails, we already know that they must have the proper training and knowledge, but, they also must possess the characteristics to become a good manager as well. Anyone can train and become a manager of a business, but, it takes a special kind of person to work within a healthcare facility and have compassion for patients. Healthcare is one of the largest growing fields with increasing demands every day. I spent the first two years of my undergraduate education in pharmacy school but through my many job shadows I fell in love with the business side of the health industry. I became fascinated by healthcare administration because of the potential opportunities such as: the ability to combine my talents of leadership and organization with my passion of health; the capacity to analyze and predict future trends to help my organization stay ahead therefore becoming a leader in industry; and the capability to understand medical professionals and their skills to lead and direct them in ways that will create a super-team.
I found that the plot-twist of Hazel's Hero, the author of The Imperial Infliction-Van Houten, being a drunken jerk really interesting because it added to the depressingly realistic theme of the story but at the same time, it unexpectedly crushes Hazel's expectations and nearly ruins their trip to Amsterdam. Even though I knew (Well, hoped at least) that things would turn out fine, I still felt fearful that Hazel wouldn't get the answer to the questions she had been holding onto for so long. The quote: "They are fiction, they cease to exist the moment the novel is over.," was Van Houten's response to Hazel questioning him about why he ended The Imperial Infliction in the middle of the sentence.
