Healthcare is so important and whether you choose to interact directly with patients or managing an organization, your position impacts healthcare and your organization. I have chosen the path to administration and I plan to become a hospital administrator. I would like to work in a small rural hospital that serves the small communities in its region. Health care administration combines my knowledge and experience in business and health care. My accomplishments are a result of my ability to assess situations, generate a plan of action, and work the plan. Following is my plan of action for my career in health care:
Organizations try to stay away from the Abilene Paradox because it causes trouble in organizations to the point of collapse. Their are elements and symptoms to the Abilene Paradox. One element and symptom of the Abilene Paradox is the employees in the organization agreeing privately as individuals in regard to the problem the organization is facing. Another is the employees in the organization agreeing privately as individuals in regard to the steps that are needed to deal with the problem the organization is facing. The failure to communicate with one another is an element and symptom of the Abilene Paradox because it creates a misperceive collective reality.
A. Case Study 4 - Health care administrator's main function is to manage the entire facility or institution. They too are on top of managing his/her subordinates or employees which includes all the medical staff (Doctors, Nurses and etc.), to hire the needed manpower, to delegate tasks and to develop strategies that will be able to reach the company's goal ("What Are The Duties Of A Health Care Manager & Administrator?"). As a Carteret County native, born at Sea Level Hospital, I grew up, married and had three children while living in the Harkers Island community. Living in the down east community, I quickly learned the importance of the diverse cultures and how to interact appropriately. In addition to the internal leadership they provide, health care administrators are leaders within the greater community as well. They partner with other health care organizations, comply with government regulations, advocate and testify on behalf of health care
Finally, the services of the hospital are organized by the administration. The administration is responsible for managing and coordinating activities in addition to creating policies for the hospital.
Healthcare administrators have important impact in the world of medicine. They play a key role in shaping the future course for the both the general healthcare system and their respective facilities. The act of managing a healthcare facility can be compared to that of managing an entire city due to the dynamic environments in the two settings. Healthcare administrators serve in environments of specialized groups who have competing interests and both indirect and direct relationships with each other. Effective management of these facilities demands skills in tough decision-making. Additionally, the healthcare administrators ought to respect the values and choices of the diverse groups that they serve.
People see hospitals as a place where one goes for healing and medical care, but hospitals are businesses that healthcare administrators have the responsibility of maintaining. Healthcare administrators’ responsibilities include many aspects related to patient care. Some of those aspects are social and public policy and the technical management of healthcare delivery in hospitals. Unfortunately, healthcare administrators are faced with many challenges as well. One of the growing challenges that healthcare administrators are facing is the shortage of healthcare professionals.
Healthcare management is a great, complex, and dynamic field. Like any business, healthcare requires exceptional administration to keeps its operations effective and smooth.
