“How could you live in such a dreadful place?” The sun poured down on us like you were in the desert the shade of the trees tried shying away from the sun. However one great man said, “It is just as hot for the other team as it is for you.” So we competed each game as if it was our last. We were in the land of Omaha, Nebraska. This baseball tournament taught me that baseball is a lot like life. There will always be a friend right beside you, someone trying to stop you and a new place. Thus, I used the following archetypes, cross into an unknown world, have great sidekicks and a destructive force trying to stop you from your goals to teach me this was a lot like life. Crossing into the unknown world was very tough, everybody has been here …show more content…
He has been my catcher for as long as I can remember. The catcher is the holder of the game plan, and the pitcher's job is to execute it. Some say it is a match made in heaven. Although you can change the plan, he may have the best knowledge of the field. Denny helped me and the team be capable of being heroic. If you through a bad pitch, you were confident that he would be able to make a play to stop it. Denny saved me a couple times. When I buried a ball in the dirt, he would block it. We were up by one in a game, and he saved me from a wild pitch because he blocked it. So, we ended up winning the game. This connects to the archetypal sidekick because when you need someone to help they will be there. Also, everybody on your team is your sidekick. While they might not be as important of a sidekick as the catcher, they still make plays for you. Sometimes if they don’t make a play that will anger you, but it is a lot like family. They will try their hardest to help you, but they will always make the play that matters most. This team was the closest to family, excluding my …show more content…
Our last game came as a coincidence. We were playing a team from our home town. This game was for bragging rights. I had to pitch in this game, and it may have been the most fun I have ever had. Everybody knew who everybody was. Although none of us were friends. We all had one goal, to win this game. This game was different than any other game we played. We weren’t nervous about losing. We were nervous about not winning. Although this team tried to stop me and our team from being heroic, they shaped me to be who I am because they force you to see everybody's struggles. This connects to the archetype destructive force because they were the team trying to stop us from going on to the next game. We did win this game and we got the bragging rights for years to come. This archetype also connects to life because there will always be someone trying to stop you from going on. You could be competing for a job with another person. You just have to outwork the destructive force if you are going to be able to beat
This passage is important because Michael is ineligible to play because he doesn’t have a birth certificate so he coaches 3rd base. That reflects the theme because he finds a way to stick with baseball, even though he is not allowed to play. It might not seem like it, but this play won the game. The bottom of the lineup was up and everyone thought they would lose the game. The head coach told Bobby to just hit, but Michael gave him a different sign, he told him to bunt down the third base line. Everybody thought the game was over and the chances of going to Williamsport ( Little League World Series) was over. Bobby missed the first two times. Cory Allen, the pitcher thought he couldn’t touch the ball so he lobbed it in as soft as he could. Now instead of bunting Bobby was swinging as hard as he could. The ball didn’t even get past the infield, but he still had a chance. Bobby was running faster than he ever has when the shortstop threw the ball it was wild and it went over the first basebmen, which ment Bobby was
At the end of the eighth inning we pick up the game with Kansas City leading the Minnesota Twins one to zero. Steve, sitting on the bench in the corner with a towel over his head in the Kansas City Royals dugout as his team is batting in the eighth inning, has thoughts that go back to his Little League days when his father Joe Ballard would say. “Don’t worry about the batter, play pitch and catch with the catcher. That’s how to win a game from the pitcher’s mound.”
Only being the bat boy, Stanton had to bring his equipment to the ballpark everyday and go hit in the batting cages before the team showed up. Stanton thought to himself, “Why is coach asking me to swing in batting practice today? He has never done that once since I became the bat boy.” Stanton walked back onto the field and stepped into the batter’s box. Before Stanton even took a swing, he looked at the beautiful Marlins Park. Straight ahead was the bright, colorful outfield walls that were painted green. Stanton soaked in the atmosphere. While the batting practice pitcher went to throw the first pitch to Stanton, Johnny Field, the Marlins seventh round draft pick said, “Come on coach! You’re giving the bat boy a couple swings? Ha-ha that’s funny.” Just as Field finished his sentence, Scotty Stanton crushed the first pitch he saw into the left-center field gap, landing at an estimate four hundred feet. Coach Mattingly said, “Sit your ass down Field, we should have drafted this kid over you!” Stanton gave Mattingly a smile. Stanton continued to punish balls, smashing them all over Marlins Park. To others, it was just batting practice, but to Stanton, it meant more. It felt as if he had the game of baseball back in his life. When Stanton’s round was over, the Marlins players were impressed, besides the envious Johnny Field. One Marlins player even told Mattingly that this kid needs to be in the lineup. Mattingly
Chris Givens was a middle school boy and he loved to play baseball. Chris lived and breathed baseball. He would watch every game he could. Also, the only sport he played was baseball so he was the best at it. However, there was one problem for Chris. He was not one the most popular kids. Only the most popular kids were picked onto the school's baseball team. Chris had tried to act cool and even hang out with cool kids, but it never worked out. Even though Chris was not like everyone on the baseball team he is determined to be the first kid to make the baseball who wasn’t popular.
Baseball is a common sport that is played as a team. The goal is to win by having more runs scored than the opposed team. There are nine positions on the field and each has a different job to do. The catcher is a very important position and played by the top skilled people in the MLB. One of the best catchers of all time, Gary Carter, was a greatly skilled man and lived to the fullest he could be in his career of baseball.
The sun has risen and a young boy jumps out of bed with excitement, as he knows today he gets to go to his first professional baseball game. His father had bought him the tickets for his birthday months ago, and the boy had been counting down the days ever since. He put on his favorite ‘Cleveland Indians’ shirt, and ran downstairs to eat his yogurt and waffles for breakfast. As he ate, his mother saw him happily drawing Jacob’s Field, using his brown crayon to put the finishing touches on the base paths. The boy had a penchant attitude for baseball, as it was the first game his father ever taught him to play, and because of that, he would play whenever he could; with rocks and a stick, with his friends in the yard, and in his head when he

Baseball has been an American essential since the 1830’s although it was not until the early 1900’s that baseball became a recognized profession. Baseball fans credit traditional media for permanently establishing the sport itself through an objective style of writing that became hero crafting. Heroics in baseball are defined by players that not only headline the news with their athletic prowess, but also represent the game of baseball well and carry high character. A hero’s actions change the way the game is played and viewed. Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson, Babe Ruth, and Mookie Betts all boast different traits of heroism. While Cobb, Ruth, and Betts all bring unmatched ability to the plate, Christy Mathewson best represents a baseball hero due to his on field dynamic performances and exemplary character.
The archetypal definition of a circle is wholeness and unity and that is exactly what shines through in the baseball team. Because baseball is the only sport where the runner ends up at the same place he started, thus making a complete circle, the team experiences it daily and more than anyone else. Roy is the missing link to form the circle. The team uses teamwork throughout the movie, therefore showing unity amongst themselves. Also, the movie begins with Roy’s playing ball in a field with his dad, and ends with him playing ball in a field with his son. This shows Roy’s journey as a circle, which shows wholeness of his soul. In the beginning, he is very thirsty for fame, but in the end, he is complacent.
But this all changed when a day before the season opener with the Iowa Cubs, Javier received a phone call from his brother stating that Noely had finally passed away. Van Valkenburg uses this to really pull at the reader's emotions, showing how similar to his father’s situation, he copes with the loss of another loved one, and has to battle through it. But battle through it he did, as he “channeled that sadness into baseball” and uses the tough experiences to motivate him, because he was no longer playing for just himself, he was now playing for his father, his mother, “and especially
Maggie pitches for her team and use to catch for her team. She is a 3-time pitcher in ACC, she has only had to be taken out of a game of pitching twice. Her team collected 23 wins, because of her “pitching”. During 2016 she has thrown 245 strikes, she has pitched 242 innings. She
Great person, everything he does is the right thing. He's out there playing hard. He's great with the community. He's a great role model." (Spencer) Mike Trout who is maybe the best player right now and is slowly becoming a great role model tells us Derek Jeter is a great role model.
I delivered every single time. My cousin Tristan was a beast. Every time you looked for a deep hit ball you looked towards him. He always knew had to turn a 0-2 count into a third base hit. He may not have been fast on the base paths but he knew how to work a bat.
As a catcher you are the only one there to catch the ball behind the plate. When people are running the bases, they are allowed to steal once the pitch is thrown. You have to make sure that if the pitcher's ball doesn’t get hit that you're there to catch the ball, or else they will take off and steal that base. When a wild pitch is thrown, you have to block it from going past you, or else that leaves a big opportunity for the runner to advance. When the pitcher throws a ball that is heading for the ground, you have to make yourself as big as a target as possible to stop the ball from bouncing past you. To do this you should switch to your knees, “Your glove should move from your target position to directly between your legs
