My most memorable baseball experience came not when I was eight, beating several of my friends on the opposing Little League team, not when I was 15, against our cross-town rivals pushing my school team into the JV playoffs, but just a couple weeks ago, marking the first win of the team that I helped coach. It was just the second game of our season, and only an hour and a half long, but it was a representation of the backbreaking work applied by everyone involved. After my ninth grade year playing JV ball, I decided that I needed to focus on my school work, as it was tough to maintain my grades while juggling sports and other extracurricular activities. However, I continued to play club baseball, as my passion for the game never faltered. The trend continued in my junior year, as I needed to drop club baseball in order to keep up with the challenging courses I took. My coach, who I’ve been with since 6th grade, asked me to come back out whenever I was available so I could help prepare some of the younger boys in the program for the upcoming season. One of my core beliefs is that it’s important to give back to those who helped or supported you; the least I could do for all the years that my coach helped me, was to help him back. …show more content…
That day, I met a group of 13 boys, out of shape, lacking fundamentals, but willing to learn. I, along with a few other old teammates, understood that we needed to push these kids to their physical limits, and ran them until we got tired. The other coaches I worked with were both around the same age as me, but all came from different schools, granting us a multitude of drills to make sure the kids advanced as fast as possible. Although our viewpoints on how to manage the team may have differed at times, we had the same common goal, making these boys better at
The sun was shining and birds were singing as the 8th graders of Adair Middle School lined up getting ready for tryouts. Memphis Range was the new kid in town. He stood at about 5’10 with a muscular frame. He had black hair like the brand new easton mako beast Memphis had got. The new Easton Mako beast was the bat every kid dreamed of having. Memphis was kid who loved the game of baseball and never dreaded a moment playing it. Levi Garrett was the other kid in town who was good at baseball. Levi on the other had was a rich kid in town and was always bragging. He thought he was the best player in town. Levi knew that with Memphis coming in he would have to find a way to put Memphis off his game to be able to be the starting
When there is so much at stake in your baseball career, are you confident and strong enough with your pitch? Can you throw effectively? Is your throwing arm strong enough to endure long games?
Wondering upon a metal or lodged in the ground might come across confusing, yet not to mention the foreign objects stored inside it. The box, a capsule, is used to educate future explorers about past generations. What belongings would best be left behind to depict a vision of this generation? My capsule would include baseball gloves and baseballs, a record player, and a handful of coal.
After hearing this news about a mlb player who is korean just shocked and blew my mind. This is an ongoing investigation but chances are that he will go to jail for sexual assault. One thing that i do not understand in this world is that it's always the people who have millions of dollars, can be professional athletes, celebrities and many more that are always involved in these types of criminal offenses or sexaul assualt. People rarely see like for example “Homeless man rapes young girl,” because these homeless people are not going for the girls or whatever. All they need is money and a proper place to live. Where on the other hand, millionaires and people with lots of money tend to do these type of actions because money is no option to them since they have millions of them. I picked this news because the mlb player is Korean which is my nationality and honestly it was wrong for him to do this type of action.
Each and every week I would head out to the baseball park, not because the experience would always leave me with joy, but because of the joy and satisfaction that the players had when they came and left the field. Many of the player’s parents told my fellow buddies and I, that the players would start counting down the days until the next Sunday, as soon as they’d get into the car! Throughout the entire Challenger season, I was reminded of how easy my life actually is, and how a how much I take for granted daily. With this program having such a great impact, I was dedicated to making sure that the player’s experience was the best possible. Which meant that I would often get there early, and help our Challenger division coordinator, to set up and makes sure that everything was ready for when the players came. My hard-work, and readiness to help out obviously were apparent to the coordinator, Jeff Sandes, as he came to me at the end of last year’s season to thank me for all the hard work, time and effort, I had put in to make sure that the players' experiences were the best
The audience to which this paper is directed towards is the college aged baseball fan in America. They are interested in the game and love to go to the ballpark to watch a game, and if they can’t make it to the game they will try to watch it on TV or catch some of the highlights. They hear the stories about steroids and the various scandals, but don't possess a deep understanding of them. My audience’s attitude towards my culture is admiration for the players and teams. However, likely objections could include the steroid scandals and some fans may be hesitant to accept the fact the these players makes huge salaries each year. Professional baseball players come from all over the world, so while it is likely that my audience share similar backgrounds
Sports in a society bring people together and help aid in people making friendships or gaining respect for each other. Baseball isn’t a traditional game that minorities play in and possibly one of the most well-known sports for segregation with the Negro League being formed for African Americans before they integrated. Whites were perceived as the better baseball players so African American and minority baseball players weren’t allowed to play with them (Jiobu, 1988). African American baseball players weren’t worse baseball players and actually had better stats and success in the Negro League. Some even believed they were worse players because they were told so by the white people who were seen as the smarter race even though the numbers said
Growing up, my dad made sure that my brothers were involved in sports. Because he thought that football was too rough for them at a young age he signed them up for baseball. From then on out, we became a baseball family. Everything we did, all of our family friends were because of the sport. Even though, I did not play the sport, I still loved the game. It was the beginning of my seventh grade year when my dad informed me that it was mandatory that I participate in an extracurricular activity and because my dad was the authoritarian saying “no” to him was not a question. It was then that I decided to join a softball team.
There are three diverse ways a baseball player can approach a season in school. You can do it for the draft, trusting you can swing baseball to a profession. You improve the situation the adoration for the diversion, and simply thank god for another chance to play the amusement you cherish. At that point, there are the ones who do it with the expectation of complimentary training. You can be every one of the three, however, most folks are extremely one dimensional with regards to this approach. When you go to the locker space for training and you simply envision what every one of your colleagues does, you truly discover an alternate everyone is from each other. Be that as it may, on the off chance that you separate them into these three classes, it won't take you long to do as such.
Unfortunately, United States history has an inhumane past with regards to African Americans. African Americans have been subject to segregation, prejudice, discrimination, and other unfair practices imposed up until the latter half of the nineteenth century. These same factors even permeate into American baseball where African American baseball players were segregated and treated unfairly despite many of them being more talented than their white counterparts. However, despite decades of injustice toward African American baseball players, the integration of black players into the Major Leagues eventually occurred. By analyzing the effects of World War II for African American baseball players, Branch Rickey’s motives and signing of Jackie
To inspire is to fill someone with the urge or ability to do or feel something. Ever since I was a little girl softball was always a major focus. I didn't start taking the game seriously until I was in seventh grade. Once I started it and find my passion for it, I was unstoppable every weekday and weekend were dedicated to either practice or games. By looking at softball; I have learned that I can inspire others: which is important because of positive and negative experiences, having the ability to work hard, and having an effective attitude can affect the work you put in.

The beginning of baseball has had it twist on who started the game and who made the rules to the game. The sport we know as baseball was original name stickball before it became an organized sport. It was usually a middle class white -collar worker who played the game.
Once when i was four years old my mom and dad had asked me what sport would you like try i said baseball, so they had signed me up for t ball and my father coached me and my best friends Christopher, vincent, alyssa, and michael. We started training for our first sport earlier than expected my father Kurt mariola sr had us working 3 days a week mondays, wednesdays, and fridays just trying to teach us the fundamentals of baseball it was hard at first, he make us run, do push ups and get us mentally ready for game time situations, when we would train we would hit field and work on throwing by are first official practice with the entire team we were already the captain's me and my good 3 friends. We know are positions and how to throw and etc, our other players were really good to my dad we have a special team here and going into our first game of the year all of us were nervous. Well we won our first game and we were all happy but are coach made us run the hill after every game to keep are heads straight and teach us discipline and sportsmanship. I didn't care if we had to run i told the team it was for one good reason to keep us focused on are goals we want to settle. Going into our second game we faced a good team but not better than us we won that game again we play ten games and we won all 10, going into the playoffs we heard teams were gonna bring everything they could against are team we had the best team in the league.
