Future President Pant Suit Hillary Clinton has been interested in politics and justifying human rights for quite a while. She has many accomplishments and is a hopeful presidential candidate. Here we will explain how Hillary Clinton has evolved into her political self, her accomplishments, and her aspirations for being president in 2016.
Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton was born in Chicago, Illinois October 26, 1947. She grew up in a middle class home in the Chicago suburb, Park Ridge. Her dad, a World War II navy veteran, owned a small drapery business. Her, her mom, and two brothers helped out in the drapery whenever they could. She met her husband, Bill Clinton, while she attended Yale. She later served as a lawyer for the Congressional Committee investigating President Nixon. Afterwards, she moved to Arkansas where she taught law and also ran legal clinics representing poor people. Hillary actually co-founded Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, this was one of the state’s first child advocacy groups.
She married Bill Clinton on October 11, 1975, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Being First Lady of Arkansas, she improved educational standards and health care access. Their daughter, Chelsea, was then born in 1980. Bill was elected for two terms starting in 1992. As first lady, Hillary continued to lead the fight to reform our healthcare system so that all families could have access to affordable healthcare. Insurance companies and other special interests defeated that effort, but Hillary did not quit then. She began working with Republicans and Democrats to create the Children’s Health Insurance Program that provided health coverage to over 8 million children and cut the rate for uninsured children in half.
In 1995, she led the U.S. delegation to Beijing to attend the UN Fourth World Conference on Women, even though some officials told her not to go. She gave a very noteworthy speech, and spoke these famous words, “human rights are women’s rights and
