Hilary Clinton was born on October 26th, 1947 in Chicago Illinois to Hugh E. Rodham and Dorothy Howell Rodham. She was raised in Park Ridge Illinois with her two siblings Tony Rodham and Hugh Rodham. Clinton attended Wellesley College and soon Yale University to earn her law degree. In between taking college courses, she was heavily involved in various jobs such as working on U.S. Senator Walter Mondale’s sub-committee for migrant workers in 1971 and taking part in western states for the campaign of the democratic presidential nominee, George McGovern, in 1972. Graduating in 1973, she went on to enrolling in Yale Child Study Center to study children and medicine, later earning a post-graduate year of study. She went on to become the first lady as her husband Bill Clinton won the presidential election of 1993 and appointed her as the head of the Task Force of National Health Reform. In 1998, her husband was impeached due to a sex scandal, involving Monica Lewinsky, but remained in office. After her husband’s presidency was restricted to 2 years, Hilary became the first female U.S. senator from 2001-2009. She took part in running for the presidency of 2008 but lacked the amount of delegates to win.
Barack Obama, who won the presidency, nominated Hilary Clinton as secretary of state. She was soon permitted as the 67th U.S. secretary of state. Clinton used her secretary of state term to focus on issues relating to women’s rights and human rights. She led U.S. efforts in relation with Arab Spring and military intervention in Libya which backfired leading to her being under investigation due to a deadly attack upon U.S. ambassador, Christopher Stevens and three others.
