For every child that was adopted that year in the U.S., about five were aborted, meaning that for every one baby whose mother let them live, five babies were killed for that same reason. Not only that, but a fetus in the second trimester, the latest it can be aborted according to Roe V Wade, is no longer just tissue and is, in fact, a human life; women should be more careful with their actions and prevent the pregnancy before it happens so as not to take a life; and everything that allowed Roe V Wade to evolve into today’s law goes against it. A woman is more than a fetus. Though a woman might be pregnant with a child, she is still her own person and has every right to decide what she wants to do with her body. Many people argue that having an abortion can be emotionally damaging, however, so can abortion. Women develop an emotional bond with a child when they carry it through the full term and go through an experience of delivery. Giving up that child for adoption might be the only reasonable option for a young girl too immature or poor to raise a child. However, that woman has to live with a feeling of abandoning their child for the rest of her life. In my opinion, having an abortion can be psychologically damaging to a woman; however, giving up a child from adoption is a great deal worse.

Choosing to go through an abortion and placing a child up for adoption are quite different matters to analyze. Simply, going through with an abortion is murder by killing a child. Where as, if you were to put a child up for adoption you are giving that child a chance to live. Enduring an abortion may to some people be a convenience; abortion is a quick way of dealing with this problem. Adoption can be seen as a long and grueling process. However, they are both mentally damaging; in both cases the parents, or parent have to give up a child and a life. In some adoption cases some people choose to take back their child; but for others the decision is indefinite. Both situations must be seriously considered and measured.

Abortion is referred as the termination of a pregnancy or of a fetus that is incapable of survival (Dictionary.com). Abortion is morally wrong and illegal because the fetus is a person. It is the same thing as murder. The reasons people have abortions are they are not ready to handle the responsibility of another human being, the fetus may have a birth defect, mother’s heath is an issue, rape, or simply because they don’t want any more children (Abortioninfo). The majority of people that have abortions are teenagers. Abortion is flat out wrong and should be banned. Being that abortion is immoral no matter the circumstances, justifies the need for a law to make it illegal.

Abortion was legalized in 1973, since that time nearly fifty-six million unborn babies have been murdered, that is one baby aborted every twenty seconds. The child has no choice whether to be conceived or not. The techniques they use are awful, we would never put a living child through that so why would be put an unborn child that can still feel pain through this. An abortion is not only painful to the unborn fetus but also to the mother as well. She will face not only physical pain but physiological pain as well.

There is a saying that goes like this: “One man’s trash, is another man’s treasure.” Unfortunately, this quote is just as applicable to possessions as it is to children. Millions of couples throughout the world are unable to bear their own children for various reasons. Virtually there is no child who could remain unwanted with all of these willing, wanting couples. Adoption is an answer to the prayers of these individuals, as well as, the pregnant woman and her child. It provides an out for the mother, a home for the baby, and a child for the adoptive parents. The benefits that stem from this sort of arrangement are endless. If the mother wished, and it was agreed upon by the family, an open adoption could be arranged. This would allow the birth mother to receive photos and updates on the child if she so wished. Though traditional closed adoptions are more common. Many would argue that carrying a child full term into delivery would be far too costly for the mother and some studies would support that fact. “There are nearly 1.2 million abortions performed in the United States each year” (Operation Rescue, 2014). That was 1.2 million innocent lives that were ended before they even had a chance to begin. Abortion has been legal for decades now, and it is time to put a stop to all the murdering of unborn children. This senseless killing of an unborn child needs to be recognized for what it truly is, and that is legalized murder. Abortions should be made illegal in the United States because it is taking the life of an innocent person, there are other options out there and lastly abortions are not only harming the unborn child but also cause harm to the mother.

The reason abortion should be illegal is because it is an unlawful act of killing another human being, very similar to the word murder. The definition of abortion is the “deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” The definition of the word murder is “the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another.” Notice the word deliberate in abortion, purposely killing an unborn child. Murder is illegal and abortion is no different than murder.

The Washington Post article “Abortion and the Adoption Option: What the Numbers Show About Women's Choices” says, “The National Committee for Adoption said that there are between 1 million and 2 million qualified couples in the U.S. who have expressed interest in adopting a baby, which means at least 40 potential families for each baby offered for adoption.” (Reid). These parents could offer loving homes to these infants, which is a better alternative than to end the child's life before birth. Some people might argue that even if the mother’s life is at risk, she can give birth and let her baby have a wonderful life with deserving parents. Some people claim that abortion is a selfish decision, because the mother values her life more than that of the person inside of her. The choice between adoption and abortion changes millions of lives every day. Some advocates of abortion feel if the mother of the child thinks that she will not be a good parent or thinks she will harm the child, that she has the right to abort the child. Abortion is a life changing decision and has the reputation of being an easy way out of an unwanted pregnancy. Adoption, on the other hand, is one way for a woman who is not prepared to be a parent to provide her child the best life possible without being involved in the child’s life.
