Automotive Service Technician
Cars are everywhere these days and most people wouldn’t be able to live their daily lives without one. Well, unfortunately nothing lasts forever, so these cars must be worked on and repaired. Do you ever wonder why it takes so long to get your car fixed at a dealership? It takes a lot of skill to properly diagnose and perform repairs on a vehicle, so it can take some time to get it back into your driveway. Therefore, automotive technicians need to be extensively trained to make these kinds of diagnostics and repairs quickly.
Educational requirements for automotive technicians vary by job location. “The odds of getting hired increase with formal or on the job training (McDavid).” Some dealerships require formal …show more content…

“Mechanics need to be able to inspect vehicles to determine overall condition, repair engine and non-engine automotive or vehicle components, replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts, and adjust vehicle components according to specifications (Career Opportunities for Auto Mechanics).” Automotive technicians are basically big problem solvers. “They use diagnostics and run tests to find the location of the problem. They also do routine service inspections, lubricate engines and other major components, and replace parts before they cause problems (Kennedy).” Technicians can perform tasks as simple as an oil change, or as complicated as an engine …show more content…

Experience is key in this industry and is necessary to provide substantial wages. This industry is appealing to many people because of the prolific activities it contains and the challenging competition against time. This career is not easy easily achieved, nor is it for everybody. Appreciate automotive technicians, because without them our vehicles would be toast! Works Cited
