Throughout fashion history, certain sartorial and manufacturing trends that eventually spread like wildfire can be traced back to a particular designer. Think of Christian Dior’s silhouette defining New Look or Yves Saint-Laurent’s radical push towards prêt-à-porter. Streetwear, the ever-popular genre of high-end casual wear, is not one of them. Instead, the style is something of a chimera, growing out of several different subcultures and geographic sources. Starting in the late 70s with the rise of skateboarding and surfing culture and their associated fashion trends, streetwear has grown to encompass a wide range of stylistic origins ranging from hip-hop culture to Japanese street fashion. Looking at where current trends and styles are going,
These past year’s fashion forecasts were on point when predicted that women’s clothing would emphasize summer bights and spring pastels—trends that became widely evident in both retail stores and on the streets. Due to the popularity among bold neon colors and light pastel shades in the women’s category of apparel, this influence has sparked the idea to emphasize the same styles in the men’s industry as well. According to the Denver Post, “these are among the trends you will be seeing a lot of in menswear, judging from the lines previewed to retail buyers in Las Vegas.” With an emphasis on menswear, these trade shows previewed similar trends found in women’s apparel this past year—short-sleeves, colored jeans, and colored shirts varying in colors from mint green to pink and yellow.
Ashley Taylor Collections is introducing an eight-piece luxury collection, hitting Nordstrom stores Holiday 2018. This collection represents an array of styles that would benefit every client, including price points from $500-1200. The collection seizes to illuminate a women’s curves and provides sexy neck-lines for leisure. The inspiration in designing my collection was seeking out traditional lingerie styles and pairing them with trendy pieces that were predicted in A/W 18/19 (WGSN). I incorporated a variety of lace detailing, nylon and polyester blends, to show a more feminine attire. Other fabrics I used was silk, cotton, and mesh. I tended to use more natural fabrics with synthetic combinations to produce quality pieces at the designer price point. The traditional
Plaid made a serious comeback on the New York Fashion Week runways, and designers gave the trend their very own twist. Gone are the days when plaid is just for grunge and rock and roll styles. With Calvin Klein Collection, creative director Francisco Costa gave a ladylike interpretation with loose-fitting dresses belted at the waist and featuring asymmetrical hemlines. Jackets in plaid for an edgy take on the print accented a selection of street style ready looks at the DKNY’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection. In addition to this, designers like Victoria Beckham, tried to walk the line between masculine and feminine by exploring the checkered print with large and miniature
This design is both amazingly comfortable and the statement piece of the season. You can pair it with jeans to look like a million bucks while feeling crazy comfortable or toss in over a leather skirt to look drop dead gorgeous while staying toasty

Elie Saab’s 2018 Spring Ready-to-Wear show was in Paris this year. There was a wide variety of maxi and mini dresses. The fringes were able to play different roles to give the looks many different feels. Some outfits felts as if they were ready for the beach or Coachella, while others were ready
While muscles are the driving force of the movement of the body, they can also become infected, damaged, and negatively affected by many different illnesses and genetic defects. An example of an inherited disease that affects muscular function is congenital myasthenic syndrome. According to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, congenital myasthenic syndrome causes the weakening and reduced function of muscles (MDA 2015). Life with CMS can be extremely difficult, as muscular function and contraction controls many parts of movement, including respiration. According to the Genetics Home Reference of the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the effects of CMS can be varied depending on each individual case; some individuals may only encounter weakening
When, it comes to fashion in the urban world I've noticed a big change in men. They're taking out the time to put things together and are going for a cleaner and fitted look. Guys have become more involved in fashion than in past years. This season some trends I've noticed are long lined t-shirts (one of my favorites), ripped jeans, bomber jackets, pea coats as well as trench coats. And even though the long line t-shirts have been around about two years they've become more popular this past season. This is one of the items that you can get from almost anywhere from your local H&M for $8-12 to your high-end designers such as Givenchy for about $558. (I've included some pictures below) For an item like this, I wouldn't go and spend the money
Fashion trends and casual wear can be easily spruced up for fancier occasions if you know how to utilize the accessories in front of you. Be creative and don't let the "rules" of fashion dictate what you believe is attractive. There is no wrong way to accessorize and trial and error is the best way to learn how to accessorize
Fashion is very important in modern day society, and can be seen all around. Most of what people know about fashion today came from the fashion during the renaissance. From the vibrant fabrics to the spectacular jewels, renaissance fashion has been thoroughly threaded in the fashion of modern society. Modern day women often wear shorty, fun gowns, tightly fitting jeans, and lower cut tops. Popular fashion trends for men in modern society include saggy jeans, V-neck shirts, and stylish watches. “A fashion is merely a form of ugliness so unbearable that we are compelled to alter it every six months” (Oscar Wilde). Fashion in modern day society is ever changing, but most changes do not stray too far from the original product.
For decades to even centuries, dress codes have been established for people of every single era. Whether it may be the 1990’s and 2000’s, the people of that era created a new sense of style in which was passed down to other generations until this very modern day. New patterns and colors were added to clothing bringing in a new dress code for that time period. The styles, we as individuals “ come up with”, are our presumptions that we have created them. The styles we may have in our modern day may seem unique and authentic, however they are an accumulations of pass styles added with a unique twist to it. Unlike the 1990’s, the 2000’s introduced a new sense of style to people allowing them to express themselves through their clothing.
We look to the television, magazines, and billboards to find what is trending. This shows us what should or shouldn’t be worn, whether it
My country of Origin is America. Fashion is one of the heartbeats of this country and America runs on it. I am from New York City and in New York fashion is everything. Whether it’s in the blogs or the newspapers the trending topic is always who’s wearing what and what’s new in fashion. America and New York especially is perceived as being more financially well off than other countries. Fashion has always been a top priority for Americans. Americans are very specific about what they wear and when they wear it. They are cautious of whether things are in or out of season and in or out of trend. As oppose to another country like Italy, where I learned that in Italy the people are more care free about what they wear. They pick up anything
