advocacy response to the problem.
The effects of asthma do not discriminate against socioeconomic levels, or race, but families living in poverty or isolation, have been found to place children who are ill at greater risk (Gizynski & Shapiro, 1990). Working directly with Charlene who suffers from asthma, we would apply to PPA to try and get her matched with an assistance program to better suit her medication needs. Secondly we would take precautions to create a healthier household for Charlene by investigating different air filters that could help decrease her symptoms. Social work interventions regularly include referring clients to public resources, providing financial assistance, and should also include advocating within the medical system
R.J. is a 15-year-old boy with a history of asthma diagnosed at age 8. His asthma episodes are triggered by exposure to cats and various plant pollens. He has been using his albuterol inhaler 10 to 12 times per day over the last 3 days and is continuing to wheeze. He normally needs his inhaler only occasionally (2 or 3 times per week). He takes no other medications and has no other known medical conditions. Physical examination reveals moderate respiratory distress with a respiratory rate of 32, oximetry 90%, peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) 60% of predicted, and expiratory wheezing.
In an emergency situation, why is a drug most commonly delivered via injection versus an oral route?
From the information gathered from the case study above, SE asthma is not well controlled because, she has been using her albuterol metered- dose inhaler approximately three to four days a week over the last two months. She has been awakened by cough three nights during the last month. She has shortness of breath during exercise, which does not usually occur to her during exercise. She has been hospitalized two times in the last year due to her asthma exacerbation and SE has visited the emergency department six times for the past six months due to asthma symptoms and exacerbation
Chris reported that his asthma is under control and his school has his asthma action plan.
“Final call girl’s four by eight-hundred-meter relay” called the official. The Ontario Track girl’s four by eight-meter team trooped up to lane one, in unison. I would not have wanted to be racing with anyone else but my relay family. We had trained all season for this one race. Every workout, asthma attack, tear, and shin splint has lead up to this one race to break a twenty year old school record. As we jogged with the official from the bullpen to the starting line, the crowd had uproars of excitement for the athletes. An immense smile grew across my face, not only from the ecstatic crowd, but from the anticipation to race. I approached the starting line, in the first lane, while my teammates arrayed along the fence with the other second,

I am the manager of the Asthma Foundation of America. The organization is a non-profit company established in 2011 and located in Atlanta, Georgia. The main goal of the organization is to provide educational programs for asthma patients, healthcare providers, and communities affected by this chronic disease. The organization will also help to raise funds for asthma facilities throughout the state and invest grant awards to researchers to enhance the overall prevention and control of asthma disease. This will help to improve further treatment to manage this disease and assist with groundbreaking research for cures. However, the organization has expanded nationwide to make sure all people over the United States get assistance primarily over asthma disease and live sufficient life.
Asthma is a disease that affects your lungs. It causes repeated episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and nighttime or early morning coughing. Asthma can be controlled by taking medicine and avoiding the triggers that can cause an attack. You must also remove the triggers in your environment that can make your asthma worse.
In this paper, I will explore asthma prevalence of children living in New York City. Asthma is an existing serious public health concern in inner cities and urban environments. Especially children with asthma from low SES families or minority groups face difficulties accessing health care, receiving high-quality continuous care, and preventative education. In other words, there is a disparity in the asthma prevalence and care in New York City.
Asthma affects 1 in every 12 Americans. According to the American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology, Asthma is affects “About 1 in 9 (11%) non-Hispanic blacks of all ages and about 1 in 6 (17%) of non-Hispanic black children had asthma in 2009, the highest rate among racial/ethnic groups.” As a mother of child with asthma, I know how scary it can be to deal with asthma attacks and learning how to treat the symptoms and minimize risk factors.
In this section of the report the support available for Asthma and Influenza are discussed. There are many different people with different roles who provide support to patients who suffer from these diseases. Support is about providing the right care, treatments and assistance for those people who are experiencing your chosen diseases (classroom notes, 2015). Both individuals who were interviewed stated that they got some statutory support this was more the case in the individual with asthma, but the main support for both cases was informal support from their families (Detail of this interview is available in appendices).
Asthma is a lung disease characterized by variable and reversible airway obstruction, airway inflammation, and bronchial hyper-responsiveness. Causes recurring periods of wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing; coughing normally occurs at night or early morning. Asthma affects people of all ages and mostly starts in childhood. In the United States, more than twenty-five million people are diagnosed with asthma and about seven million of these people are children.
The pathophysiology of Asthma includes inflammation of the airway. The way in which this works is from an irritant which can include dust, pollen, cedar, or cat hair. When a reaction occurs, the airways become inflamed and narrow. The narrowing occurs because once the inflammatory response is triggered by an irritant, histamines, immunoglobulin E antibodies, and leukotrienes are released. Because of this, mucous production occurs. Since the bronchioles are inflamed and narrow, breathing becomes difficult. Wheezing sounds can be heard due to the lack of air being able to easily move in and out of the narrowed bronchioles.
What I found was that Leonardo da Vinci was constantly being challenged for his unique paintings and the choices behind his creations. He wanted people to feel his art just as much as he wanted them to see his art. Because of this, he was categorized under a “negligible” role in the history of science… He believed painting was science; this belief gave significant consequences for the history of art.
I am cared for by a single hard working mother. She works over 72 hours consecutively as a certified nursing assistant (CNA). Our household consist of my 2 month old brother, my mother, and myself. I have an older brother who passed away from a fatal motorcycle accident approximately 3 years ago. We reside on Martin Luther King Jr. Street on the east side of Boynton Beach. Many would label my community 'ghetto', unstable, and non prosperous. To top it off, I am a young, black, woman. Throughout my time on earth I've never let these factors define who I am and what I am capable of accomplishing; however, my society does. We live in a world today where the most malicious people hold power and the justice of laws aren't enforced. I am aware of the criminals
