Art galleries and museums are visual spaces used exclusively for an exhibition and education of art. Galleries and museums are an essential part of our society as it promotes cultural diversity and differences. The galleries and museums display art to present the viewer an insight into a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and communities. On the third Friday of every month, an event in Downtown Brownsville called Noche de Arte takes place. Noche de Arte consists of 13 local buildings and galleries that showcase artwork to support art and artists within the community. Although “La Rosa” is a digital photograph, the viewer can still see that it is a mixed media piece. While examining this exquisite piece in person, it is abstractly profound by a technique of how everything is placed together by a collage type of form. The way the emphasis is on the flower is quite beautiful that brings this photograph together. The variation of colors, writing, and cut-outs shows movement in the piece, yet flows around the flower. The second piece that stood out the most to me was also another photograph by Mari Ortiz called “Loving the Architecture.” Architecture, especially in the downtown area, is antique yet interesting to look at. This picture’s medium required various techniques such as color correction, sizing, cropping, viewing, and printing in a dark room. The color of this picture defines the boldness and texture of the building in a naturalistic way. Although printing digitally in a dark room prints the photograph in black and white, the way the shadows captures depth and tones is absolutely
