Gun control is a continued discussion amongst both politicians and the American citizens. The idea of gun control has affected how people will vote for politicians. Sixty-one percent of United States registered voters say that gun control is one of many factors that influence their vote for a candidate. Besides the sixty-one percent of United States registered voters that say that gun control influences their vote for a candidate, twenty-four percent of registered voters will only vote for a candidate that shares their views on gun control. When asking the public about gun control, ninety-six percent of Americans believe that consumers need a background check for all gun purchases. Seventy-five percent of Americans believe that there should be a thirty day wait period for all gun sales. Seventy percent of Americans believe that all privately owned guns should be registered with the police. American citizens, gun owners and non-gun owners, believe that there should be increased gun control in America. They believe that gun should be distributed to the right people and that all guns should be registered. When people were asked about possible solutions for the problems of deadly shootings, only five percent of the people asked believed that banning guns and increasing gun control would solve deadly shootings in America.
