There is a controversial issue in regards to immigration. Some believe that immigration needs to be held at a controlled limit, and there needs to be stricter laws placed. Others believe that immigration has made America what is it today, and one should not be stopped for wanting to pursue a better life. Immigrants are a benefit to the United States because they provide cultural diversity, and major positive impacts to the economy on a whole.
Immigration derives from the word migrate, and involves when a specific group moves from one place to another. Immigration is one of the most talked about subjects In America today. There are many reasons why people choose to migrate. Some choose to migrate due to wanting a chance for a better life and getting a taste of the American dream; some flee their countries to escape wars, religious or racial prosecution, and are refugees, Etc. Some Americans believe that refugees should be accepted with open arms, and that it is the practical thing to do. Others, believe that by accepting refugees into America, it puts us at great risk for terrorist activities. On 1980, the Refugee act as implemented. A refugee is a person who was forced to leave their country of origin due to fleeing from war, persecution, or any other types of violence taking place. Some of these might be due to the confrontations of political parties, race, or religion. This law was put into place as an agreement to provide residential services and admissions into the United States for those fleeing from their countries. Refugees were granted many provisions upon entering the United States such as Cash Assistance, Trainings to learn the English Language, Employment, etc. Some of the refugee groups who were part of this act during the 1980’s were middle eastern, and Vietnamese, and
