Many years ago ancient civilizations such as ancient Egypt used a type of warfare known as archery. Archery is the act of firing a bow and arrow at a target. It can be used as a sport, for fun, entertainment, or to kill a target. Archery dates back to many ancient civilizations and possibly even the stone ages. Today, we adopted the practice of archery with improved bows and new methods of practice.
The sport of archery dates back to the ancient Egyptians about some 5000 years ago . There they used it as a hunting method and a form of warfare. The ancient Egyptians were possibly the earliest to use archery. It was also used during the Shang Dynasty in China during 1766-1027 BC. There it was used as a type of entertainment. People would gather with music to watch the archers compete. The Chinese introduced archery to Japan in the 6th century and there it had an influence on many things such as martial arts. Numerous other civilizations used archery as a type of fighting and hunting as well.

The Archer's Paradox can be defined as, an arrow traveling in the direction it is pointed at full draw, even when it seems that the arrow would have to pass through the starting position it was in before being drawn, where it was pointed to the side of the target. In simplier terms, an arrow will fly in a straight line to a target when it starts off pointing away from the target. It states that when an arrow is released from one side of a bow such as the left or right its trajectory will follow a path that is different from its expected path. This phenomenon comes from the fact that an arrow oscillates, or swings back and forth at a steady and regular rhythm, when it is released because the string is using its pushing force at the end of an arrow. This causes the arrow to move around the bow shaft allowing it to fly in a path that is the same direction as the arrow axis at full

The bow and arrow was a reliable way for the Native Americans to hunt, as well as in some cases fight opposing tribes. Native Americans didn’t take the extra step in evolving their weaponry by modifying it to better the other tribes. The Europeans, on the other hand, used other countries weaponry and adopted it in their system; this was one of the big factors in the Europeans conquest over the Americas. The Native Americans, with only bow and arrows, stood no chance against the European’s guns and steel swords; this further proves their primitive
Thus, the bow and arrow held special significance performing such rituals, and serving as serving the warrior as a powerful weapon. During one battle at Katsuura, the Genji warrior Yoichi Munetaka was chosen to hit a fan that was placed on bow of a Taira warship, beconing any archer to show his worth by shooting it down. Munetaka, unsure, says, "I am not sure I can hit it. It would be an eternal disgrace to our side if I missed it.(p.367)" Ordered by Yoshitsune to fire on the fan and affraid to refuse, Munetaka closed his eyes in silent prayer. "Hail, Great Bodhisattva Hachiman and ye gods of my province at Nikko, Utsu-no-miya and Nasu Yuzen! Vouchsafe that I may hit the center of that fan. If I miss, I will smash my bow and kill myself; I will never show my face to others again. If it is your will that I return home, keep my arrow from straying." When he opened his eyes, the wind seemed somewhat gentler, and the fan looked easier to hit. (p.368) Warriors often conducted such prayers to bring them good luck and safety on the battlefield.
In “The Hunger Games,” the bow and arrow seem to become a sign of hope for the underdogs, Katniss and Peeta, which becomes a symbolic symbol. It’s an underdogs weapon which makes the outcome of The Hunger Games a bit surprising, which only adds to the story and deepens the meaning of the bow and arrow. I do believe it to be a bit over exaggerated as well, because of certain circumstances. Archery, in simple terms, is a weapon of weak people, not because they are physically weak but because they aren’t really anyone’s favorite.
Secondly, bows and arrows were most likely used for protection purposes. The two tools are occasionally made from wood and have been in use for a long period of
