APPENDECTOMY
An appendicectomy (or appendectomy) is the surgical removal of the vermiform appendix. This procedure is normally performed as an emergency procedure, when the patient is suffering from acute appendicitis. In the absence of surgical facilities, intravenous antibiotics are used to delay or avoid the onset of sepsis; it is now recognized that many cases will resolve when treated non-operatively. In some cases the appendicitis resolves completely; more often, an inflammatory mass forms around the appendix. This is a relative contraindication to surgery.
APPENDICITIS
Appendicitis is inflammation of the appendix. It is thought that appendicitis begins when the opening from the appendix into the cecum becomes blocked. The

Ultrasound can identify an enlarged appendix or an abscess. Nevertheless, during appendicitis, the appendix can be seen in only 50% of patients. Therefore, not seeing the appendix during an ultrasound does not exclude appendicitis. Ultrasound also is helpful in women because it can exclude the presence of conditions involving the ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus that can mimic appendicitis.
Barium Enema
A barium enema is an x-ray test where liquid barium is inserted into the colon from the anus to fill the colon. This test can, at times, show an impression on the colon in the area of the appendix where the inflammation from the adjacent inflammation impinges on the colon. Barium enema also can exclude other intestinal problems that mimic appendicitis, for example Crohn's disease.
CT Scan
In patients who are not pregnant, a CT Scan of the area of the appendix is useful in diagnosing appendicitis and peri- appendiceal abscesses as well as in excluding other diseases inside the abdomen and pelvis that can mimic appendicitis.
ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
The appendix (or vermiform appendix; also cecal (or caecal) appendix; also vermix) is a blind-ended tube connected to the cecum (or caecum), from which it develops embryologically. The cecum is a pouchlike structure of the colon. The appendix is located near the junction of the small intestine and the large intestine.
The term "vermiform" comes from Latin and means "worm-shaped".

Abdomen: The lipases appeared unremarkable. The liver, spleen, gallbladder adrenals, kidneys, pancreas and abdominal aorta appeared unremarkable. The bowels seen on the study appeared thickened. Dilated appendix seemed consistent with acute appendicitis. All the structures of the abdomen appeared unremarkable. No free air was seen.
Abdominal Sonographers examine he abdominal cavity to diagnose and treat conditions relating to the gallbladder, kidneys, liver, pancreas, and spleen. They are able to scan areas of the chest although most issues with the heart are done by echocardiographers. Obstetric and Gynecologic Sonographers specialize in the female reproductive system and the development of the fetal. Breast sonographers study diseases of the breast and track tumors, bloody supply conditions and assist in the accuracy of the biopsy of breast tissue. Neurosongraphers main attention is the nervous system, including the brain. They also diagnose disorders that have to do with premature infants such as infants with sickle-cell

For her goals are painless form her appendectomy surgery, make her comfortable feeling staying in bed and trying to encourage for fluids for QNS (quantity not sufficient) lab. Intervention for miss potts is provide ice bag for the pain, keep at rest in semi-fowler’s position for make her comfortable feeling. Monitor Input and output for urine; provide the clear liquids in small amount s for QNS (quantity not sufficient).
Order abdominal X-rays. A test that uses sound waves to take pictures of the inside of the body (ultrasound) may also be done.
• Surgery. This may be required if other treatments do not work. Bowel obstruction from a hernia may require early surgery and can be an emergency procedure. Scar tissue that causes frequent or severe obstructions may also require
This involves removing the inflamed area of the intestine and stitching the healthy sections together. This treatment has been known to be successful, but the use medication is advised to help maintain this.
My freshman year of high school, I displayed symptoms of appendicitis and an ultrasound had been requested by my doctor. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that ultrasounds were not just for when you were expecting a little one, they serve diagnostic purposes as well. Interested, I researched the different fields of ultrasound sonography and had a specific attraction to obstetric sonography. Obstetric sonography, is specialized in capturing the inside of a woman’s uterus and reveal the growth and development of an embryo or fetus if she is pregnant.
Diverticulitis is one part of the Diverticular Disease, the other being diverticulosis. In order to understand what diverticulitis is, we need to first define diverticulosis. Diverticulosis is when diverticula, which are pouches that form in the intestines, most commonly found in the sigmond colon (Winkelman, Ignatavicius, & Workman, 2015). Diverticula are usually formed due to an increase in pressure on the lining of the intestines, usually in a weakened part of the lining (Winkelman, Ignatavicius, & Workman, 2015). These pockets can be caused from constipation due to straining themselves. When these pockets become inflamed or infected this disease is considered diverticulitis.
Patient might experience mild or sever pain, crampy, and aching that is similar to appendicitis. Passing of gas or stool elimination may reduce the adverse effect of pain. According to spivak & deSouza (2008), patient that are of high risk are those with the history of low-fiber diet, constipation, high intake of red meat, severe dehydration, and aging. The diagnostic tests are barium enema which determines number of diverticula, CBC indicates present of anemia, colonoscopy exposes present of diverticula, CT scan reveals changes in the colon wall, GI bleeding scan that identifies active bleeding, and CBC with differential reveals leukocytosis.
In a hemodynamically unstable or septic patient with large bowel obstruction and a presumed abdominal source of sepsis, rapid access to the abdomen is best achieved through a laparotomy. In the more clinically stable patient, laparoscopy may have a role. There is a growing body of data to support the use of laparoscopy for the surgical management of large bowel obstruction due to
Ultrasound can measure heart chambers, it can detect heart valve problems, and determine blood flow to the heart. This is beneficial to medicine because it can measure the risks of someone having heart disease. Heart disease is the number one killer is women in the United States (SDMS, 2013). If more people had an ultrasound more lives could be saved from heart disease. If someone has bladder problems and is having pain an ultrasound can measure the amount of urine in the bladder and determine the problem and solution to eliminate the pain. Also kidney stones are detected by ultrasound if someone is having

For several years now, researchers have blamed common analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers), mainly acetaminophen (Tylenol) and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), as potential causes of asthma symptoms and new-onset asthma. However, more recent evidence seems to vindicate pain medicine. Here’s 5 things to know.
Ultrasound has become a diagnostic tool used in medicine over the past 40 years. This new imaging tool has helped patients and physicians. It has become commonplace in the medical community to order diagnostic ultrasounds for various conditions including pregnancy, cardiac disease and gastrointestinal diseases. Medicine continues to see many new advances for ultrasound.
PRO: "The crimes of rape, torture, treason, kidnapping, murder, larceny, and perjury pivot on a moral code that escapes apodictic [indisputably true] proof by expert testimony or otherwise. But communities would plunge into anarchy if they could not act on moral assumptions less certain than that the sun will rise in the east and set in the west. Abolitionists may contend that the death penalty is inherently immoral because governments should never take human life, no matter what the provocation. But that is an article of faith, not of fact. The death penalty honors human dignity by treating the defendant as a free moral actor able to control his own destiny for good or for ill; it does not treat him as an animal with no moral
