This portfolio will show you the turmoil’s of my year in 9th grade English Honors. My assignments shown in this portfolio have been very mediocre and show the many mistakes I have made throughout. I have constantly had errors in my MLA formatting and basic grammar. I think that I have these constant errors because I am just not thoroughly proofreading my work. It also reflects on how many errors have escaped my proofreadings’ and I hope to improve this skill in the future. I have also had a lot of problems with analyzing texts and making through commentaries. Like my proofreading skills, I strive to really improve and strengthen my disadvantages. Strengthening these skills will greatly benefit me in the future if I shall take AP English 11
As the Fall 2017 term comes to end, I look back on what I have accomplished in this class. English 102 – Composition II was one of the most challenging and toughest class I have taken at UW-Stout, but feel as though it has helped me to improve my writing skills. Even before the semester started the feeling of anxiety had taken over, as writing has never been my strongest skill, but stayed positive and confident I would be successful. Much to my surprise, my instructor, Michael Critchfield quickly addressed that this class would not be easy and amazingly changed my views of writing throughout the entire semester.
When I was a young student, my first English professor taught me the alphabet. After one year, he taught me to put those letters together to make words, sentences, and finally paragraphs in essays. During the high school I learn to write short paragraphs, with ought putting in the correct structure .When I moved in America I stared the course of English as a Second Language and I finished with success last year. My professor advise me that when I starts the English 101 my writing it will be more fulfil and more structural. He has right as when I arrived in English 101, I realized there was more to do not just writing words on paper.
In English 111 I have struggled with many assignments over the course of the semester, picking myself up over time from countless mistakes on papers, to procrastinating on basic class work assignments. Before Fall semester, I had no idea what college would be like, or how hard it could be. Things were not the same as high school; it was different to a point where college seemed a lot harder than it was supposed to be. In English 111, I got the chance to meet new students and different professors that have helped guide me to success throughout the semester.
I have learned a great deal in ENG 110. I would like to summarize several of the key points from the session, including “Ockham’s Razor”, definition and process, writing a thesis statement, setting and reaching goals, and comparing and contrasting. Additional key points I learned from this session include making research relevant, avoiding run-ons, comma splices and fused sentences, the pro mind set and the key points of writing. When writing is best to use simple explanations and to define and explain the process. Goals need to be set and adjustments may need to be made in order to stay on track and reach them; in writing the thesis statement should be supported by the evidence from the paper. Comparing and contrasting presents both sides of an argument and discloses the whole story rather than just part of it. Words should be spelled correctly and if necessary clearly defined. Also

English 111 was the first class English class that I have taken since my senior year of high school in 2004. When I first signed up for the class I figured it was going to be a bit difficult with reading assignments, I was not expecting to be writing 3 to 5 papers every other week which I found to be hard at first.
The beginning of my junior year seems like it was such a long time ago. This may be because of how much I have grown since the start of the year. When I began AP English, my writing skills needed improvement. For instance, I often used incorrect grammar and struggled with staying on topic. In just one semester, my writing has improved immensely. The more than I write, the more I learn about how to craft a good paper. I have worked on improving my grammar, using rhetoric, addressing my subject, and many more elements of writing. In addition to improving my writing, I have gained many skills to become a better student. I have learned about effective study techniques and time-management skills that allow me to be the most successful. Since I always try my best, I know that over time I will continue to grow in my studies. This year I have gained countless skills that will help me succeed in English in the future.

As I have enrolled in the English 908 class for almost 3 months, I learn numerous methods which can help me to write better for essays in the future. From the beginning of the class, I really hated writing essays due to I did not know how to start writing the introduction. Moreover, I did not know how to make all the sentences connect to others which make the essays unappealing to the readers. Another problem that prevents me from writing is finding the interesting ideas to put in the essays. Especially, when my professor required me to write on the topics which I was not interested in, I just did not know how to begin writing on those topics and how to organize them. Moreover, I made quite often of the grammar errors such as comma splices, subject-verb agreements, as well as
In my English 111 class, we wrote four essays about various topics. In my portfolio, I will reflect on my writing in my narrative, literary analysis, compare and contrast, and cause and effect essays.
I have only been attending Cleveland State University for two semesters, and as this course comes to an end I feel like I grown and learned many techniques more than ever. I came to Cleveland State University with only my high school knowledge on how to format an argumentative essay, and throughout this course I now know how to write and format many other papers. Taking English 100 has taught me how to break down and analyze an article, it taught me how to find confidence in my work, and it helped me grow to an even better writer.
Ever since I was a child, I never really enjoyed the subject of English. Aside from me considering the subject to be boring my vocabulary always seemed to be lacking compared to my peers, and the time I spent on reading passages and answering questions about those passages was much longer than my classmates’. However, my literacy skills started to slowly develop, and I ended up appreciating English in my junior and senior years of high school.
No matter what, a person is always learning and throughout the course of my senior year, I have learnt more as compared to my rest of high school English class. I would also say that because of help and the pressure from the teacher I am used to now writing an essays. Now, I do not get frustrated writing any sort of essays. This class has prepared me for the college too.
As someone with a love for words and a talent for writing, I plan on majoring in English. I also wish to double-major in filmmaking, as I would like to screenwrite and eventually direct films. Succeeding in this course is a prerequisite to the creative writing and English courses I will take during my college education. Thus far, this class has taught me how to write persuasively, tie my writing into the overall context, and think critically. The first two skills aid me in reaching whatever audience I desire and asserting myself as a knowledgeable and trustworthy writer. The last item in the list, thinking critically, is necessary and applicable to all aspects of life. Those who can think critically have the strongest arguments, best problem-solving
