Growing up in a conservative household, Daniel Addison was nearly disowned when he started voting for the Liberals, and was kicked out when he started working for the Liberal party. For Daniel his life was on parliament hill, a place where he happily stays writing speeches for his party leader. But when caught his girlfriend of two years, Rachel, doing the nasty with the opposite house leader, Daniel left the hill right then and there. Moving to Cumberland to work as a professor for the University of Ottawa. But dedication to his party and fellow Canadians, Daniel had to find someone who would run for the Liberals in his new ridding, one in which the conservatives had a unanimous vote for the past five elections. Searching high and low he makes a deal with his landlord Angus McLintock that if he runs he would not win, will not have to do any work, would not even have to be in the country when the vote …show more content…
With only $157.23 in the campaign fund, Daniel team consists of Mariel the old Liberal candidate who lives in the nursing home, her beautiful granddaughter Lindsey, and Pete1 and Pete2, two millennial punk heads, engineering students who want to help out. Soon Canadians of Cumberland start realizing that Angus might be their guy. As most politicians are there for themselves first, party second, and the people third, Angus is different as he does not want to be there at all, he just does not want to teach English. With a shocking scandal that send voters into a tizzy, Angus might have a chance of winning, as Daniel fears knowing that parliament is not ready for this.

For those who believe that Canadian politics are less exciting than their
Dowd is not a fan of the Democrats and expresses his opinions by belittling the Democratic candidates of the 2016 presidential election. Dowd wrote the article to inform his adult readers about the candidates for the election. Dowd uses the rhetorical question, “Does anyone know his reason for running?” in order for the readers to actually think about why the candidate is running for president and if the reason is valid.

"We have something special here, something we don 't want to lose. We have a way of life, a way of looking at ourselves, a way of reacting to the world. Mr. Mulroney 's trade deal will change all that. It will make us a little more then a junior partner of the United States. I believe in a strong, sovereign independent Canada. I believed that we are now talented enough and competent enough and tough enough to make our own choices, for our own future, in our own way. I need your support on November 21st. You and I must not allow Mr. Mulroney to sell us out, to reverse 120 years of Canadian history, to destroy the Canadian dream."(6-7)
"The Progressive Liberals came first in the number of votes cast at the election, and while I most certainly congratulate them on this achievement, with the happiness and post-electoral emotion comes a great deal of responsibility. Having secured such result on polling day, and a considerable number of seats in Parliament, Mr. Thicke, alongside the leaders of the other two big parties, hold responsibility for providing this country with a stable government enjoying a workable majority in the Commons.
What most surprised me this week was just how similar, by the 1980s, the Progressive-Conservatives and the Liberals when it came to government policy. It is also an interesting commentary on the historical narrative when comparing how Pierre Trudeau and Brian Mulroney in contemporary historiography.
Leahy has positioned the audience in a position that we can see how Prime ministers actually are and has attempted to persuade up into believing that many of the promises that politicians make
My choice of whom my subject is isn’t as typical as the Popular choice of ‘Donald Trump’, or ‘Justin Trudeau’. This essay is about Naheed Nenshi, the re-elected mayor of Calgary.

Prime Minister Christie is confronted with the difficulty of leading a large majority in parliament. There's absolutely no guarantee of harmony in the corridors of power and politics. There's no evidence to suggest that the governing party is deeply divided, we bear witness to the political consequences of adding a new element of uncertainty to the mix. Any parliamentarian will tell you that YOUR worst day in government is a hundred times better than your best day in opposition. The Progressive Liberal Party are now learning that your worst day with a majority is about a thousand times better than your best with a minority. Political parties cannot ignore the influence of back-benches nor can they deny their significance. Where there lacks
The Independence of Eddie Rose starts in a house on Indian reservation. The very first things we get see is the destructive house hold that Eddie Rose, his mother Katherine Rose, and little sister Theia live in. It is early in the morning and Katherine has just finished yelling and kicking out her boyfriend Lenny Sharb. After which Eddie is left alone with his mother where they get into a bit of an argument and Katherine tries to kiss Eddie. Katherine upset that Eddie did not want her goes to her room. Aunt Thelma comes over then we see Eddie packing a sack of food. Thelma told Eddie that he was lucky that he was getting to go to school, explained to him that she and Katherine never had that chance. At that
The surprising voter turnout at these elections is a powerful example of the upsides downs happening in politics and it is illustrative of what makes politics interesting as we can never be too sure of what may happen: new government elected, fresh start for Canada, the path towards a new political future is activate in order to preserve an ideal democracy every citizen hopes
The best politicians out there, are often not the ones that have the best ideas, but rather the ones that can trick and then steal the hearts of their audiences. The people of the world will often support and vote for the candidate with the story that impacts them the most. The stories the candidates say may often not be true, this is what Hedges’ meant when he said that “the most essential skill…. Is artifice.”
For voters in the riding of Saanich–Gulf Islands, the 2008 federal election was, to say the least, unusual. The NDP candidate, Julian West, withdrew from the race after the media reported a bizarre incident from 1996, where it was alleged that West had exposed himself to a
Voting in Canada is more important now than ever. At the last federal election on October 19th 2015, there was an overall voter turnout of 68.3%. This was the highest voter turnout Canada had seen at a federal election in two decades. Out of 35,85 million people in Canada, 3,6 million people casted their ballots. However, with the overall increase of people that showed up to this election, the number of young people, especially those aged 18-24 that attended, was at an all time low. This has created a great deal of concern for when these people get to be older and more younger people will be eligible to vote, if there will be anybody in Canada who are still voting with interest and not just abstaining to. It’s important that the most amount of people in Canada vote as possible so that our government is solely represented by people who Canadians agree with their political statements and beliefs. There’s no point in the country being run by people and parties who Canadians don’t agree with because their main job as representants of the country is to voice the beliefs and concerns of those Canadians. It’s important for Canadians to be encouraged to vote young because it is the first years of being legal age to vote that are uninterested in doing so.
