What do these three things have in common, a party bus, a skate park, and Nerf wars? If your answer was they were all part of the exclusive listening party for Andy Mineo's latest album, you were correct! The promotion for the listening party was advertised via Andy's social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. The fortunate ones who responded and and confirmed their attendance were treated to a fun-filled day by Reach Records. As the party bus from Brooklyn arrived at 50/50 Skate Park in Staten Island, we watched a few professional skateboarders doing their best tricks. The next portion of the day involved huge blow up bean bags of Andy Mineo from the new album cover, protective glasses, and Nerf guns. Andy appeared out of some …show more content…
Andy talks about the real love that no one truly refers to in today's society and gives his perspective. The beat on "Love" is sure to have all who listen nodding their head with serious fervor. We all had the proverbial "stank face" as we listened to the track blast through the bus' sound system. Andy Mineo has taken his lyricism up a notch on Uncomfortable, providing very thought provoking scenarios alongside witty bars and one-liners. "Rat Race" which features acclaimed singer/songwriter Jon Bellion, causes the listener to truly evaluate the way this world runs. Andy offers a very candid and realistic look at life, proclaiming in the hook he is okay with being in last place. The true worth of life is not wrapped up in all that one acquires in this life. A sobering message that is very anti-present day culture. Andy has been known to be a very transparent artist, detailing his life through his music. The next single from Uncomfortable will be "Hear My Heart", a song he wrote for his sister Grace. The song is a touching track that sheds light on his family dynamic and some of the struggles his sister went through. The musical accompaniment fits the subject matter beautifully and one can feel it was a therapeutic piece for

Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, written by lead singer Freddie Mercury, is an elaborate and intriguing best-selling song from 1975. There is much speculation about what this song could be about, but there is a general understanding that no matter it is about, the song is used to express Mercury’s feelings. Throughout the song, there are various shifts in tone and music style, which are very important in demonstrating Mercury’s emotions toward himself and others. The song is symbolic of Mercury’s emotional struggles, and through various rhetorical strategies he conveys his confused and fragile emotions to the listeners.

With more than 16,000 jumps to his credit, professional skydiver Luke Aikins has performed many heart-stopping stunts, but his latest feat tops them all. On July 30, 2016, the 42-year-old daredevil became the first man in the world to leap off a plane from an altitude of 25,000 feet without a wingsuit or parachute! Instead, he relied on a net that measured 100-by-100-feet, or less than one-third the size of a football field, to break his fall and help him land safely.
During my lifetime I encountered many amazing people. One man who I admire most is my friend, Billy Selingo. Billy is twenty-seven years old and currently attending Manhattanville College to receive his master’s degree. Billy always been a very talented hockey player, as a freshman he began at the Holderness School then attended a post grad year at the Selects Academy at South Kent, which totals five years at the competitive prep school level. Next up for him was a scholarship to continue his hockey career at Manhattanville College, where the team competed at the division three hockey level. Billy had more skill than most of the team, he thought by playing at the division three level he would receive more playing time than he was actually getting. Halfway through the season he grew very upset, this

Each year, the Jerusalem Post names 50 Most Influential Jews in various categories and this year, Israeli-American Adam Milstein made the list for his support of the State of Israel, as well as U.S.-Israeli relations. Milstein is in good company, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and two U.S. Supreme Court justices are on the list as well. Honored for his work with Jewish organizations, Milstein stands out as a tireless activist and philanthropist. One of the major reasons Milstein was recognised was his work at the California-based Israeli-American Council (IAC), which Milstein co-founded. He also serves as the Chairman of the National Board of Directors, where he promotes the organization's goals of cementing the U.S.-Israel alliance and
This is most noticeable in the song “White Ferrari” where Ocean sings in a rhythm that sounds almost identical to the popular song “Here, There, and Everywhere” by The Beatles. The album starts off with “Nikes,” a slow, hypnotic song, featuring high pitched vocals from Ocean, and a very dreamy sound, somewhat creating a mood for the rest of the album. The next songs, “Ivy” and “Pink and White,” are polar opposites about love, where in “Ivy,” Ocean talks about how he failed to keep a relationship going on, and in “Pink and White” he sings about intimate love and good long-term relationships. The album also contains skits like “Be Yourself” where Frank’s mother leaves a phone call for him telling him not to consume alcohol, not to get in the car with someone who has consumed alcohol, or is impaired by smoking marijuana, and a skit called “Facebook Story,” about a man who lost his wife because he didn’t friend her on Facebook. Although short, this skit has a powerful message: social media can and will destroy long-built relationships with somebody you love.
In this paper I will evaluate two songs that deal with depression and discuss their similarities and differences. The songs under evaluation are the early nineties hit Jeremy by Pearl Jam and the recent hit Adams Song by Blink 182.
The song “Where is the Love?” has many sociological concepts put into the lyrics. It is the first song that popped up in my head when seeing this assessment and if you have ever heard the song then you would know why I chose this specific song. The band in this song expresses the the world's issues and they express their view on the world and the actions others make. The main idea of the song is concentrated on the reality and how the world is changing.
The chorus is a repetition of the title and suggests complete apathy to the perception of others. The singer also updates twitter on the elevator, which illustrates the proliferation of media in US culture. A notable portion of the song also consists of complaints between husband and wife—an inclusion most likely inspired by the upward trend of divorces in recent years. This song, albeit in some places misleadingly vulgar, reveals the source of dissonance between US culture and those around the world. While it is commonplace to be communally uninvolved and a divorcee in America, such situations are a rarity in many other parts of the world.
While the set is relatively brief the evening encompasses so much that come back at unexpected moment in the days and weeks to some from ‘mooshy peas’, raucous seagulls to Ed Sheeran and drag queens. As Hopkin’s shares “Thank you for being respectful of each other’s space and having a great night. It’s easy to think sometimes that punk shows are a place to go and beat the shit out of each other and whatever – obtain physical supremacy – when the reality is it is about sharing the space and resisting oppression through weird art and shit.”
