Society is ever-evolving, tangled and organized complex system that I, one out of a 7 billion and counting people, morphs it governs our my life. Since the Ancient Sumerians stretching millenniums back in history to this present day, we needed leaders to maintain order among the civilizations that we live today. Scaling back into small communities and school, somehow, through my speech, actions, and participation, I have done something to either damage or benefit it. It’s not easy to become a leader today, especially with competition extremely fierce among rivals and prominent citizens who have every right to become a strong leader with his or her’s immense popularity amongst the general crowd. To be honest, I haven’t been elected to any “class
I am infatuated with reselling sneakers, trading within the stock market, and researching political topics rather than going to parties, playing hours of video games, or scanning social media constantly. I have never fit in with my peers, and truly have felt belittled in many ways about my grades, standardized test scores, and general intellect. Though these things cause rifts, I still enjoy social life here because I am an outgoing person. I am socially involved and was even elected by my peers as vice president of the senior class. Even though I feel like I can never relate to those around me, I find ways to be a great leader. Along with being elected as vice president, I have also been elected to the outstanding delegation of the Alabama Lions High School Forum, going on from the outstanding delegation to win the exclusive title of elite delegate. I received a scholarship from this title that all 120+ of my fellow males from across Alabama competed for. In another instance, I was part of a program called Youth Leadership of the Shoals which is a selective leadership program that selects a small delegation from each school in the
There were many civilizations that inhabited Mesopotamia, but the first, and most important civilization were the Sumerians. The Sumerians were the base of civilization. They set the foundation for future civilizations to come, and had great influence over all other civilizations, whether culturally or technologically. Although there were many important ancient civilizations, the most significant were the Sumerians due to the fact that they created important mathematical concepts that we still use today, invented technology important to almost all civilizations and is still used today, and developed the first writing system in history.
All I want, and all I have ever wanted, is for people to view me as a leader. Someone you can come to for advice when needed, or one of my best qualities, to make people laugh when they are feeling down on themselves. In September of this year, 2017, I was chosen as one of the candidates for Homecoming King. In October, I was chosen to be the Homecoming King. I could not have been more honored to be a representation of my school. A teacher had seen me working as a student helper in the main office, and just had to tell me, “Kurt, congratulations,” I replied with a gracious thank you. She then went further to tell me, “ It is so nice when good things happen to good people,” replying again with a compassionate thank you. Then, it had become apparent
“As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others” according to Bill Gates, while John Maxwell tells people that “Leadership is influence - nothing more, nothing less.” Neither of them completely capture leadership, but at the same time, neither of them are wrong. To be a leader, one must empower and influence those they lead in order to get the results they want. Neither one mentions that a leader must be confident in themselves and show others that they are confident with the decisions they make for themselves and others. As president of the Italian National Honor Society at my school, it is my job to promote excellence in the course, as well as in the community. Since our society values giving back to the community, we put an emphasis on community service. Many of the other students in the society worried about completing their hours. I showed them that they did not need to worry about getting their service hours by completing all of my required hours for both National and Italian Honor Societies before the end of November.
Mesopotamia was the foundation of western civilization. This was around 3500 BC when cities started evolving in world history. It was also known as the “land between the rivers.” The first city-states developed in southern Mesopotamia by the Sumerian citizens around 4000 BC. The history begins at Sumer; this society brings many things to the table for a starting civilization. In 3500 BC the Sumerian people learned their own writing system. They would write on cuneiforms, clay blocks which were easy to be transported but they were very fragile. The Sumerian people had an independent government which was ruled by a king, Sargon. The cities as well as
The Epic of Gilgamesh is generally regarded as the greatest literature about tales of a great king. The Epic of Gilgamesh served to show us a lot of things. The time period of BCE is very blurry, and this story attempts to describe many different things in not only Sumerian beliefs, but also Sumerian's culture as a whole. Like many stories from BCE the truth itself is questionable, even though a lot of the information is fact. The factual information that Gilgamesh teaches us about Sumerian Civilization is that had had many craftsman and artistic skills, and also a strong belief in Gods.
Evolutions of civilizations can occur because of differences in people’s religion, culture, or geographic setting of the settlement. The relationship between the world of the gods and that of men was perceived differently by the Sumerians, Egyptians, and Hebrew ancient civilizations. This is demonstrated by the way each group viewed the process of creation. They had different thoughts on the creation of their gods, the universe and of man. This essay will discuss the relationship between humans and their gods in three different ancient civilizations: Sumerian, Egyptian and Hebrew.
Leading a country takes more than just having a high status. Being a leader of a nation incorporates abilities that can make or break an administration. The life of a leader leaves little time for oneself. From the time of waking up, until the time to return to bed at night and that is if sleep can be permitted due to the hectic schedule to be kept while the leader is surrounded by servants. In today’s era, it is like being a celebrity and the paparazzi is everywhere taking
Being a notable leader doesn’t just mean your name was the one spoken when help was needed, but you were there before the help was needed. In the case of arranging my school going to a competition I was the default leader. Muslim Interscholastic Tournament (MIST) is a nation wide tournament where thousands of Muslims in high school compete against each other. I was the elected Vice President of student council and took it upon myself to voice the student’s opinion. After much back and forth, the school allowed us to go on the condition of the school not arranging anything for the tournament. Being the one who took the initiative to convince the school, I started arranging the teachers, transportation, and funding for this tournament. Like any
The society of early Mesopotamia was laid out in a hierarchal manner. At the top of this hierarchal pyramid was the king, Gilgamesh. The people of early Mesopotamia worked to not only appease Gilgamesh, but also to appease the gods. In this society, there are also trappers, herders, and a harlot. The job of the trapper is to trap wild game for the people to eat the meat of.
Many people recognize the pyramids of Egypt as some of the greatest treasures of the old world. But most people don't wonder where the ancient Egyptians got the idea from. There were many cultures and civilizations before Egypt that could've influenced the idea of massive pyramids, but most think that one civilization in particular, the Sumerians, had the most influence on the pyramids that stand today, because of their pyramid like ziggurats. The Egyptians probably did base the pyramids off of the Sumerian ziggurats, because they had the same basic structure, the ancient Sumerians had lots of influence on Egypt at the time, and they both displayed the same symbols and meanings for their people.
The cultures of Sumerian society in general fascinates me, but what really fascinates me is their religion and practice of medicine. In 3000 B.C.E. Sumerians basically appeared out of thin air because no one knows where their origin starts. Sumerians established numerous towns in southernmost part of Mesopotamia, which became known as Sumer.
The ancient history of the world is very alike, but also very different. There are stories which bear great resemblance, and one would think civilizations would trade stories, but the different civilizations were miles upon miles apart, so some would have no form of contact such as the Sumerians and those in the Americas. There’s also the stories of each civilizations kings, and who they were. Most have a similar background such as being a demigod. There are also some differences, though. This would include how a civilization would record their history, their tactics, and even how they acquired food. Humans are very alike, but we all have a unique take on how we approach things and situations.
Ever since I was young, I have had an inkling for leadership and taking charge in turbulent situations, this is why from a young age it has been my aspiration to one day become a great and reputable leader. This factor and many have contributed to my decision to contest for the post of class governor.
Uta-napishti, survivor of the Flood, is a God that lives . He is the son of Úbar-Tutu lived in a city named Shuruppak and is a forefather of Gilgámesh, the king of Uruk. Úta-napíshti was commanded by Princely Ea to abandon all his possessions and construct a
