I never would have thought of the story ending the way it did. It really took me by surprise and I would have never thought of the locket getting stolen or lost. Edmond who is Octavie lover was given the locket as a gift. I would have never predicted that to be the ending. The Locket was a short story that I felt like was kind of romantic.
I felt the story was romantic because the story took place up on a hill side and the story was about a precious locket. Lockets are always a precious piece of jewelry. In the story, the locket was a gift that Octavie gave Edmond to show her love for him. Edmond was now responsible for the locket since it was in his hands. Octavie trusted him now with the locket.
To me the ending wasn’t predictable because the couple seen to be happy and I would have thought that Edmond would have gave back to Octavie as a gift. To Octavie the locket was important to her because it once was her mother’s locket. The locket was described to be beautiful and antic with engravings that her mother had put into the locket. I would have predicted the ending to be Edmond giving the locket back to Octavie as a gift and the locket would have more engraved details on it about the two of them. I wouldn’t have thought of the locket being stolen.

The locket shows that all stories don’t have a happy ending. Edmond broke the news to Octavie and I all a sudden knew that Octavie had to heartbroken over that. If I was Edmond, I would try everything in my power to find the locket or even get a locket that exactly looks the same. I also think Edmond should have been more careful with the
1.) The ending did not surprise me; I think it may have if we hadn’t discussed it in class. I think I would have been very surprised and confused, if I hadn’t known the ending prior to reading it.
The locket is a great short story. It is well developed, unified and coherent. Its inspiring and touching and moving. Kate Chopin is a great author with well thought out ideas and creative writing. The ending in The Locket didn't surprise me. The author Chopin was foreshadowing through out the whole story. When Edmond came back to find Octavie, and lost the locket, is was predictable. One, By the amount of love he showed for her. To make sure she knew how much she loved him. Two,
When Ethan brought the locket home to Amma she freaked out and told him to get rid of it. He didn’t get rid of it and brought it to his great aunts house. He asks around and searches for information about the locket. “’We found this locket in the garden behind the great house. We don’t know who it belonged to, but it looks really old.’
The ending of the Lottery was a surprise, because at the beginning the piles of stones seemed just like a children thing. However, the stones were just a foreshadow about what was going to come later. It was a nice little town were at the beginning they were all together
The ending of “The Locket” was very surprising. Three reasons the ending was surprising was one, Edmon was still alive. Also, Octavie was always depressed so it was unexpected her husband was still alive. Lastly, Nick, his alli, stole the locket.
At the conclusion of The Locket Edmond told Octavie that he didn't lose the locket but that it was stolen from him. I found the ending confusing but after reading it over I found the ending predictable. The conclusion of the locket was predictable because of three major details. The locket being stolen was predictable because the lockets description, Edmond's messmates, and Edmond's battles as a Confederate soldier. The locket was stolen for its overall value.
In the short story The Locket, it is believed that the author Chaplains writing style has kept the readers guessing throughout the story. Many would agree that the ending of the story was a shocker and few expected that conclusion. They would agree that the father-in-law proceeding with the funeral arrangements supporting the assumption the deceased person in the coffin was Edmund because he had the locket around his neck played into the authors plot twist. People would also say that the end of the story was intriguing, especially when Octavia opened the letter from the priest, returning her locket to her expressing his sorrow of the death of her husband Edmund. Only to find out at the very end Edmund was not dead and he was waiting for her at the door.
The conclusion to this short story was interesting because in the end when Octavie thought about the boy that was found with the locket, she must have been thinking about if his family would ever know what happened to him. This ending keeps me thinking about if anyone would ever know he died. This ending ties the whole story together because it shows why the author described some things vaguely such as: the soldier lying in the ground with the locket, what happened in the battle, and the “children playing”.
So this book was good. I liked it. It was very dark, deep, and depressing but it was very interesting as well. The last sentence in the book makes me mad, I don't like the ending because it ends as a cliffhanger. Like the way it ended made me think that there was gonna be another book about it. I don’t really think that the book should be changed at all or make any edits to it because it's pretty good. It pulled me into the book at the beginning of the
If I had not been blessed with a sufficient amount of sleep the night before, I may not of stayed awake to see the ending. I think that Annie would have been happier if she could have stayed in the mountains with Hector for the rest of her life, whether he was actually there or not. She is an old woman. Why start a new beginning and a life somewhere else when she is perfectly content where she is? Let her finish her life where she is happiest.
I enjoyed the novel’s open ending because of all the possibilities. Phoebe and Paul’s story continues after the truth is revealed to Norah. It is not a seamless transition into shared traditions and memories; they are strangers that happen to be related; Paul and Norah do not know what to expect and Phoebe is the glue that joins them together just as it once tore them apart. The ending was not some happily ever after but a promise for a better tomorrow and a chance to heal and grow. Edwards’ structure of the novel ended on a sentimental and beautiful note, quite literally, with the twins singing while visiting David Henry’s grave. Paul heals and realizes that he stopped being angry at his father and now he just misses him and all the opportunities
The ending was a definite surprise for anyone that watched the film for the first time, but after going further and analyzing the film it is obvious that the events that took place were symbolic for what was going to happen. The film, An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge did not give nearly the same amount of information as the short story, but both tell the same story and share the same theme. We as an audience got to see the true definition of one’s life flashing before their
Refutation: The story line actually has a very basic plot, and as for the ending the author made the decision to leave you wondering. The author is smart about his ending where he plays with characters emotions towards the book which is actually a respectable technique that he uses in order to create elevated anticipation for what is to
The ending of the book was very disappointing to me. I really enjoyed reading about how his mother was in pure denial and wanted to keep her son near her forever and how his father knew how hard it would be but he also knew that
the feeling I get when I read this short story is one of mystery. The author sets the stage for this right from the very beginning when she describes the locket as some sort of good luck charm. When one of the men says "That's a charm; some kind of hoodoo business that one o' them priests gave him to keep him out o' trouble."
