If there was a massive battle happening a mere three days drive from you, would you notice? The answer may seem obvious, but in the book Diary of Anne Frank, Anne Frank, the youngest daughter of a family in hiding from the Nazis, does not notice the devastating battle that is occurring less than 72 hours away in Russian territory. By reading the book, the reader would not notice the action happening in Russia. There was no mention of the Anne Frank was unaware of the Soviet Union’s efforts to stop Germany, the contributions they made, or the sacrifices they faced in order to stop the war. First, Anne did not mention the war in Russia. It was a big war so it was hard to miss. Textual evidence for my claim that the war was a big deal is “Russia is estimated to have lost close to 30 million people to the Germans during the war. The true tally could be even much higher” (The Washington Times). Further proof that the war waged in Russia was large, is “Following the conquests of Greece and Yugolavia in the spring of 1941, Berlin prepared its most ambitious campaign; the destruction of Soviet Russia. The ensuing war would result in a staggering loss of human life, and in the final destruction of the Nazi regime” (The National Interest). Finally, more evidence that the war in Russia was crucial to World War II is “Between June 1941 and May 1945, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union engaged in a cataclysmic struggle on World War II’s Eastern Front. The resulting war was one of the
The Holocaust was a time of war where many families were separated from one another and many had died from this tragic event. Although, from the book “Diary of Anne Frank” a Jewish girl named Anne that had been affected by the Holocaust had said, “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” Even though Anne and her family faced many hardships during the Holocaust Anne still saw the good in it all, and after reading the book I have to agree with Anne’s quote. One of the main reasons of why I am siding with Anne is because of Peter’s actions throughout the book and how his actions rapidly changed once Anne showed kindness to him. However, I can see how some people may disagree with Anne’s quote throughout Mr. Van Daan’s horrible actions throughout the book.
Have you ever heard of the Holocaust? The Holocaust was a terrible time in history when Adolf Hitler was torturing many innocent Jews. He put them in concentration camps, but many tried to hid just like Anne Frank and her family. Anne Frank who was Jew, has a famous quote that says “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” Even though throughout the “Diary of Anne Frank” we see that people are not always the best they could be, I agree with Anne and believe that everyone is still good at heart. One overall reason I chose that people are really good at heart are the acts of kindness Peter has throughout the book to Anne. However, I do know that there are two sides of an argument, I can see how some might
Anne Frank and her family followed the war closely via the radio. They knew of the efforts of the Allies and their progress, though she didn't know the plans of the Nazis to kill more and more Jews faster and faster as the Allies progressed east. When she was captured after several dark years in hiding, the people at the concentration camp took all that was left of her identity. He hair was shaved, she became a number, and her last hopes were crushed when she was told that all the men had been gassed and killed. Her despair was a large factor in her death, as she had nothing to hang onto anymore. She died without the knowledge of how close she had been to surviving.

It was worth it for Anne to go through those harsh moments for her diary to be published. If she lived through the war she may not have wanted to or thought about publishing her diary. Therefore people around the world wouldn’t know this

Ultimately , Anne Frank Story and the Holocaust is one of the events that impacted our lives in many ways. ” We aren’t allowed to have any opinions. People can tell you to keep your mouth shut, but it doesn’t stop you having your own opinion. Even if people are still very young, they shouldn’t be prevented from saying what they think.” - Diary of Anne
The events recounted in Anne Frank’s Diary took place during World War 11. By 1933, the strongest party in Germany had gained ultimate power with Hitler under their command. Hitler was Germany’s dictator who spread his gospel of racial hatred through politics. While poverty and unemployment were at an all time high he launched a campaign of anti-Semitism. Hitler’s main target was the Jews, claiming that they were “racially inferior.” He developed an idea of a Master Aryan Race, the need to rid Germany of “inferior people”, such as Jews and Gypsies, and the need to expand Germany’s borders. In doing this, he caused many Jews to abandoned their homes and go into total isolation. The Frank family
Do you ever get mad when your parents say you can’t do something or go anywhere? Well, imagine how Anne feels being isolated in that room all day long, every day. The story "Diary of Ann Frank" reveals what it’s like to transition from childhood to adulthood in the modern life. The theme of the story is living in oppression and how it affects Anne as a person, both physically and emotionally. For two years, Anne and her family along with another family are locked up in hiding in a secret loft. “The diary of Anne Frank” shows us that sometimes family is all we got but we have to make the best of it and be thankful we have our family. Anne Frank quoted “we all eat and read like one family” (page 230) This statement tells us that no matter what
"The Diary of Anne Frank" tells us a story about how her life as a Jew was drastically changing during the Holocaust and the start of World War II (WWII). She was a very intelligent young woman that had hopes and dreams. Anne was a normal teenager trying to find her way in life. All of that changed when the Nuremburg Race Laws were formed. Her father who was a World War I fighter hid his family and friends in a Secret Annex that was blended in with a normal neighborhood. As she lived for months in the Secret Annex, Frank had written her diary, full of her experiences in the Annex. Everything changed though, when she reached the end of her times in the Annex. Hitler's men had found Anne and her family and friends. This memoir adds in to the
The Nazi’s used propaganda to get people to go to the camps, like showing them videos of family playing, eating, and children laughing. That...was not the case, Anne didn’t know about the death in the camps, about them killing all those people her friends and loved ones, she just thought they disappeared.
Like I read to escape, Anne Frank uses her writing both as an escape from people and as a path to close the gap between her and the outside world. Anne Frank, to me, is an inspirational young Jewish woman and everything about her shines with vitality and buoyancy. Yet, unlike others such as Josephine Alibrandi, Anne is restricted from being able to show her full potential, and is never given the opportunity to become the young girl, daughter or friend that she wants to be, due to the unimaginable circumstances she is forced into by the Nazis. The last extract from the Diary of Anne Frank jumped out to me and caught my attention, leaving me in a glimpse of despair. The passage conveys the message that Anne’s identity as a Jewish girl was hard
During the devastating time of World War II, a Jewish teenage girl wrote a diary about the gruesome events she witnessed, this diary was named, Diary of a Young Girl, Anne Frank. Anne Frank lived in Holland and went into hiding when her sister, Margot, got a letter to go to a reception camp. The Franks faced terrifying moments during hiding. They witnessed war outside their window and stayed in the same house without even going outside for about two years. To add on, the Franks had to keep in mind how every day they could be arrested or even die. Sadly Anne and her family are arrested and are sent to Auschwitz, a concentration camp where she would later die. While in hiding, the Franks and the Van Daans, who were also in hiding with them,
