“The Calf-Path” by Sam Walter Foss is a poem that exemplifies the many habits of society throughout history. In “The Calf-Path,” a young primeval calf walked home like the rest, but this one was different. The young calf chose to take a path much different than the others, one that has never been walked. Thus leaving his trail behind for the rest of the world to follow. As years passed, many walked the calf’s trail. So many that the trail became the main source of travel.
