The character I selected from Walk Two Moons was Salamanca Tree Hiddle (Sal for short). Sal is important in the novel because she had a troublesome past by her mom died and had to move to Euclid, Ohio when she did not want to, but started all over again. By starting over she got her the farm back. Another way she got a new beginning is that she got the swimming hole, and the letters her mother gave her. In the text it says, “We’re back in Bybanks now.” (Creech 260). This quote relates to Sal’s shape a cloud because when a cloud is gone it can comes back again better. This quote also related to Sal’s color white because white means new beginning. This relates to the quote by telling how both of the shape and color means new beginning.

Taylor left her home in Kentucky because she did not want to end up like all the other girls who did not finish school, got married early, and did not have much to look forward to in life. Taylor wanted a better life for herself so she left and made a new life in Tucson, Arizona. It is apparent that the narrator isolates herself from her immediate family because she always stays with her grandma. The narrator almost always feels alone, even at church. The only person that can make her feels safe is her grandmother. The narrator does have a good bond between her grandmother, Abuelita, though. When her mother asks her to go help out Abuelita, the bridge between the family member is set. This bridge connects the girl and her grandma, and also promotes the development of the story. Because the whole story was unfolding throughout the main clue, the relationship between the narrator and her grandma. The girl connects closely with her grandma. In “The Moths”, The author expresses the theme by showing how the young teen feels the exact opposite with her grandma to the way she feels around her family. When one is internally consumed by resentment, they become isolated and it takes an extreme event such as a great loss to regain inner peace. For the girl, the narrator, her grandma represents a great loss in her life.
