There is a common theme of education throughout the novel. Both the achievement of it and the lack of it. Throughout this novel many different views of education are encountered, some seek it and some are burdened by it. It plays a very important role in the success of certain individuals as well as the main characters goal to teach Jefferson to be a man.
The great gatsby book is mostly about cheating. All the characters are basically in a circle and cheating on each other. Many characters in the gatsby try to be something that they are not. They wanna seem better than what they are. In the great gatsby Tom and daisy tries to be something he isn’t. When surrounded by many people you learn different things. Some people choose to share this knowledge they had learned, while some people decide to retain the information. Retaining the information can affect other people. In the novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Nick displays how retaining knowledge can affect people in detrimental ways. Some knowledge he keeps delays the inevitable while some other knowledge he knows stops what could happen. This is displayed through Nick not telling people about Tom’s and Daisy’s affairs, Nick not telling people about the murder, and how everyone is deceived or lied to.
STRUCTURE/FORM: The structure of this novel starts off from the middle of Jefferson’s trial. The main character is analyzing what is happening during the trial. The sections in the book are describing in a very detailed manner what is happening from the five months in which the trial started to how it ends. It was all a phenomenon. Lastly the last few chapters are when the narrator is teaching the lessons in more detail to send out the message to the reader why this book he wrote is so informational in many ways.

Self Knowledge is a very important asset to have in life. Without self knowledge, one can be viewed as someone completely different or it may lead to poor decision making. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald shows a great representation of self knowledge or lack of through the main characters and their effects. Jay Gatsby's lack of self knowledge ruins the idealistic vision of his future with Daisy which lead to a life of deception, Nick Carraway's lack of self confidence and identity leads to his character giving off the impression that he has a fake personality, and Daisy Buchanan's wrong decisions mainly lead to her lack of self knowledge. The lack of identity in one's character can lead to future problems.
