Anai Harley is a Florida native and a 2015 graduate from Bennett College. Anai attained her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Management. Though Ms. Harley majored in Business, she’s always been a lover of all things artistic. In high school she always took painting, fashion, and pottery classes. Fall semester of her junior year in college, she really discovered her true gift as an artist when she enrolled in a Painting and Printmaking class while studying abroad in Cyprus. In that Painting & Printmaking class her final project required her to make wall displaying with a variety on paintings. Following graduation Anai aspires to eventually open her own Art Gallery and continue to share her art
Founded in 1972, A.I.R. Gallery is the first not-for-profit, all-women artist-directed, cooperative art gallery in the United States. The gallery was established for the reason that, despite gains made by the early women artists’ movement, the majority of the emergent women had no place to show their art. As an advocate for women artists, A.I.R. Gallery has worked tirelessly to promote women artists and maintained a driving force in the New York art scene.
Design has become one of my greatest passions in my life, one that I never grow tired of and constantly wish to improve upon. This is why I chose to become a graphic design major, so that I could constantly interact and learn about design even once I enter the career force. Design is a puzzle that when solved correctly can reach people like words could never do. I have known that I would enter a creative field since a child, though it wasn’t till recent years that my love of graphic design truly blossomed.
My faith has allowed me to believe that miracles happen to good people despite other’s doubts; therefore, I believe if I try my best, I can succeed. To showcase my skills and potential, I yearn to sell my art in markets, take pictures at various events, and create customized accessories and commissioned pieces. In addition, I plan to contribute to community mural paintings, and collaborative pieces. Above all, I will be striving to display my work in galleries. Through my work, I yearn to educate and raise awareness to all I am passionate about. I hope to impact the world in some
The wayback-background begins with two very understanding and supportive non-artsy parents that stocked their house full of every pencil, marker, and paint set imaginable. Jessica grew up knowing she wanted to do something art related for a living but had no idea what graphic design was until Sophomore year of college. She took an intro course and was hooked. Design was satisfying in a completely different way than fine art—everything was like a puzzle you had to solve. As a nineteen-year-old from Nowheresville, Pennsylvania who lived a relatively charmed existence, she didn’t feel like she had much to “express” yet. Being able to think and execute artwork on the behalf of others—to address their needs rather than her own—was a giant “Eureka!” moment.
In the quiet city of Sebring, the simple buildings contain an explosion of ideas and potential. Despite what others might think, this place has provided a lot of encouragement for artistic abilities such as, a muse, a canvas, and especially opportunities. Due to the citizens’ interest for art, the community finds a way to be on common ground. For this reason, people anticipate new artwork created by the young generation of ambitious artists.
The unfamiliar way of life was so exhilarating. The museums and galleries, the burgeoning art mecca in Brooklyn, everything was just a subway ride away. I was eager to begin anew with my husband who was helping me recover my health. I embraced life without the burden of my family’s traditional values. This journey brought me great friendships, experiences working at a major art gallery in Chelsea and managing an artist’s studio. I eventually opened my own gallery in upstate New York where I collaborated with artists and curators to bring exhibitions featuring local artists and contemporary art focused on current issues. I also managed a public art festival for a local arts organization to cultivate and facilitate community engagement. Along the way, I discovered who I am and continued to develop my own
During the last couple years, I’ve been fortunate enough to have an active role in the emerging Tampa Bay art community. After assisting the founder of Tempus Projects last year, I was asked to be one of the 14 members of the all-women’s art collective, Cunst Haus. I am also an organizer and one of the 8 members of Quaid Gallery. All three of these establishments work to support local, national and international artists. Being a member of Cunst Haus and Quaid has served as a significant career template and I'm happy to be a part of these collectives that are so dedicated and passionate about supporting our local art community and helping to make the visual arts more accessible to everyone. I anticipate the next step in my life and finding my place in a new art
We meet to look at and critic each other’s work, to discuss topics in art, and offer guidance in areas of career development. Antoinette approached me on the topic of the mentorship; together we worked out the time and content of the meetings. This was an enjoyable and mutually beneficial group. Antoinette was very open to critic, and was extremely generous with her thoughtful and insightful comments on other’s work. As well as being part of this informal mentor group Antoinette has also served as a mentor to emerging artists through the CARFAC Sask’s mentorship. This program goes through a selection process for both emerging artists and mentors, then matches emerging artists needs with capable mentors. The pair works together over a ten-month duration. Antoinette was selected as a mentor in this program three times.
Art galleries are essential to the art world, however, is not the only source for audiences to view art. To begin with, art and artwork is defined as the application of human skill, creativity and imagination. Taking this into consideration, individuals need to examine the nature and purpose of art galleries as a facility to collaborate, organize and display a collection of artworks. As art however, is any expression of human creativity, its presence is not bound to art galleries and is evidently present in the world around us be it in photographs, the internet or even in graffiti.
Two artists in particular caught my attention, Bill McCoy and Nancy Hamlin-Vogler. Bill McCoy is a traditional oil painter that creates paintings that reflect Florida’s lifestyle and nature. His paintings are semi-realistic and capture the beauty of Florida. Bill McCoy was the president of The Artists Guild of Brevard and The Strawbridge Art League (website). Nancy Hamlin-Vogler is an artist of many talents and creates art of many different mediums like acrylic, charcoal, and mixed media. Her artwork is sporadic and spontaneous that ignites deep thought and emotion. She is an award winning artist and is a member of the St. Augustine Art Association (website). I walked around the whole gallery and look at all the different art, some art was really cool and others weren’t so much. I focused my attention on these two artists because they
I’ve developed a passion for art through years of drawing, designing stage sets, creating club flyers, or painting murals in classrooms during my free time. I hope to not only share my love of fine arts, but also my ability to engineer innovative solutions that I’ve gained by exercising creative

Much like Bocelli, Sean Van Tyne—noted author, speaker, and consultant on customer experience and related topics—studied a subject not related to that for which he found his passion. Van Tyne holds a BFA in Painting and a Master’s in Education, which he used to begin his career painting fine art and teaching. He spent his days in the studio and afternoons as Artist in Residence through the Aesthetic Education Institute. Then, when he and his wife decided to start a family, he sought another career that used similar creative problem solving skills he loved about art.
