San Juan del Rio Catholic School (SJDR) is a parish within the Diocese of St. Augustine. It is located in Saint John’s County and in a rather affluent section. There are many strengths of San Juan del Rio Catholic School but there are some weaknesses that need to be addressed. One of the main things we need at San Juan del Rio is more activities and sports teams. Our students are very competitive and play numerous sports are a part of many clubs outside of school. They are also very involved in many activities which require travel throughout the year. Having more activities and sports teams throughout the school year would ensure a variety of students enrolling in our school and would meet the needs of the students at SJDR. After-school programs develop critical traits that prepare our students or adulthood while keeping them safe and entertained.
Attention Step: How many of you all know of someone who is overweight? How many of you all know of someone who is dead because of weight problems? Obviously, a serious factor that is going on across the United States is obesity. According to The Gale Encyclopedia of Fitness written by the authors Rosalyn Carson-DeWitt and William Atkins, the definition of obesity means that it is a health condition where an excessive amount of body fat is inside the human body. This excessive body fat can cause health related issues including illness, disability, and worst of all, death (Carson-DeWitt and Atkins 615).
Many would argue that unlike smoking, obesity is genetically predetermined and cannot be prevented or controlled. Genetics do play a major role in one’s height, size, and weight, but this does not mean it cannot be regulated with a healthy diet and exercise. The rate of metabolism is a factor that is inherited and is directly related to stored fat. A slow metabolism allows for more calories to be stored as fat consequently leading to obesity. Eating the right foods, eating multiple small meals, and exercising regularly boost your metabolism allowing you to maintain a healthy weight without storing extra fat. For many, the dieting and exercising would be enough to decrease excess body fat enough to escape from the obesity range. Some people are not capable of getting out of that range no matter how much dieting and working out they do, however this has no reflection of their all-around health. A person considered overweight that exercises regularly and sticks to a good diet can still be healthy and prevent the development of many
This book comprehensively addresses the subject of obesity. Apart from highlighting the main causes of the epidemic, the book also presents suggestions on what can be done to stem the rising rates of obesity.
Obesity is a common disease that makes a person massively overweight. This disease can potentially be lethal if not treated correctly. In addition, this could also lead to other common diseases such as heart disease and diabetes and cancer..
There’s a large campaign to keep our citizens in top health. Proper diet and exercise are highly stressed to maintain an overall healthy system, especially in our modern societal situation. This tactic is used to halt obesity: a sort of malefic parasite on our health. Elena Torres-perez has observed that "this excessive adiposity has been epidemiologically associated with a wide array of metabolic complications such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer" (“The FAT expandability (FATE)
Obesity is associated with a number of long term conditions which place significant burden on individuals. The growing issue of obesity can be slowed down, if society focuses on the effects of obesity. Concentrating on psychological problems, health problems and social care, overtime, obesity can be decreased and lead to a healthier

For this week's assignment we were given the chance to look at eating disorders and some of the negative effects it has on people. Thought this essay I plan to give my personal opinion on wether or not the treatment for those who has a eating disorder and if they have gotten better or worst. I also plan to talk about some scenes in the movie that surprised me. I also want to talk about the advice I would give someone if I found out that they suffered from an eating disorder.

if you want to stick to the obesity argument you might want to think of arguments such as 'should the government be doing more to tackle the problem or is it up to the individual?' or 'How is it people can allow themselves to get that far into bad health(obesity)?' (might be more of a Psychology question though..) A good one for looking at arguments relating to the fast food industry is 'Super-Size me' that documentary, that might give you some more ideas about arguments, to look into some of the issues that Morgan Spurlock touches on, (size of food portions, advertising, health related problems of obesity, etc..)
In order to reduce the numbers of obesity, there has to be a firm understanding of the situation at hand. To start off the definition of obesity according to the Mayo Clinic is, “complex disorder involving an excessive amount of body fat (2)”. Not only is obesity based on many factors; there are a lot of health complications that arise because of it. Obesity is a well-established risk factor and causes problems such as: coronary heart disease (CHD), type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. Obesity also
The issue that I chose to research about was obesity in children and why it is becoming more relevant and time continues. I chose a recent article from San Francisco Chronicle that explains a recent survey that was conducted and what their plan is to try to fix it. In this article, a national report was done comparing children and adult body mass indexes. “The 2016 National Survey of Children's Health found that 30 percent of Wisconsin children ages 10 to 17 are overweight or obese, while the state's adult rate of obesity is 31 percent” (2017). Because of these results, health officials are very concerned and are trying to fix the problem. Because of this concern, health prfessionals are trying to teach parents to start to fix the problem from home.by having parents provide a better diet and exercise routine for their children.
