Many, many people suffered during the Holocaust war. The Jews in particular were in grave danger. The drama ‘Anne Frank’ outlines so many ways that this historical event caused a shift in the mood of the characters and their relationships. Before the Holocaust, Anne Frank was just an ordinary Jewish girl living in Germany. A German leader named Adolf Hitler developed a plan to destroy the Jews and to rule over the specific places where they lived. What Hitler did to these poor Jews, and the sheer terror they endured at the hands of this Nazi leader is purely unfathomable. In the beginning, there are historical events happening in this story that directly impact the mood of the characters. An example of this would be a direct quote from Mr Frank that says “ The news of the war was good. The British and Americans were sweeping …show more content…
A demonstration of this change in the relationship between the characters is “ I think your just fine...what I want to say...if it wasn't for you around here, I don’t know. What I mean…” this impacted the drama because there is now less stress and tension going on in the Annex as finally Anne and Peter realize they at least have someone to talk to and spill their feelings to that can relate to what they are going through. The direct quote I have to show this change in relationship between the characters is “Then suddenly Peter grabs her awkwardly in his arms, he kisses her on the cheek.” (Hacket, Page 174) This supports my thesis because throughout the story Peter and Anne dont get along. As time goes on, they are able to find common ground as they both struggle to survive in this terrible situation. They start to get closer and closer and finally Peter kisses Anne on the cheek and they start up a relationship. This clearly showcases the changes in the inner relationships between the characters due to the historical events taking
Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who died during World War II. In The diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, she said that “In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” This shows that she is a caring and an understanding person that while this is happening, believe that all people are still good. Many of Anne’s Quotes show that she really believes that people are good on the inside. She really believes that everything in the world happens for a reason.
The fact Anne Frank is referred to as "a symbol for the lost promise of the children who died in the Holocaust" contributes to the development of ideas in the text. The meaning of "a symbol for the lost promise of the children who died in the Holocaust" is that Anne Frank is an example of how kids who died in the Holocaust didn't reach their full potential. One way that quote helps contribute to the development of ideas is that the article states, "Selected for labor due to their youth, Anne and her sister, Margot, were transferred to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp near Celle, in northern Germany in late October 1944. " I decided to use this quote as evidence because this quote shows that younger people didn't have much freedom. After
In “The Diary of Anne Frank” there are many different objects and people that are symbolic to something abstract. One example of symbolism in Anne’s diary is when her and Peter have a discussion about the star of David. In the play and throughout World War II the star of David symbolizes a deep hatred. It represents a deep hatred because during the time of WWII with the Jews getting murdered and sent to concentration camps they were forced to wear garments with the star sewn onto them. Anne records, “You can’t throw…? Something they branded you with…? That they made you wear so they could spit on you” (Pg 709 P.22). This quote justifies that while wearing the star of David the Jews won’t receive respect and they will be treated with rude and
Jews have perished because of their beliefs since the beginning of time but never have so many Jews been persecuted worldwide as they were in World War II. Anne Frank’s diary reaches a place within all of our hearts because it reminds us how easily the innocents can suffer. Sometimes we may choose to close our eyes or look the other way when unjustifiable things happen in our society and Anne’s tale reminds us that ignorance, in part, claimed her life. Sadly, her story is but one of many of those who died in the Holocaust and as with other Jews, her fate was determined by the country she lived in, her sex and her age.
How would you feel if you were locked in an attic, for two years? Most likely you would not be as happy as this young girl. I do not think anyone could have the best attitude when faced with this situation. However, Anne Frank did. One of her most famous quotes was "In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart." Anne didn't know what was going to happen when she went into hiding, but she was not upset. In fact, she was still happy and made the best of her situation. What she did to entertain herself might have annoyed the others in the annex, but she did not care what the others thought of her. This is what makes Anne such an amazing person. Everybody in the secret hiding spot, which was an attic above her father's
The Holocaust was a very tragic time in history when millions of jews lost their lives just because of their religion. However this one girl named Anne Frank who was 13 years old when she had to go into hiding, thought and said this “In spite of everything,I still believe people are really good at heart”. Even through all the ruff paths and arguments Anne and her family went through, she still sees the good in all people. After reading a play based off of her real diary, which she wrote in when in hiding,I agree with Anne’s quote. One of the main reasons I agree with Anne’s quote was due to the actions by Anne’s father, Mr.Frank.
Don’t you hate it when your family and strangers treat you in a harsh way. Anne Frank was treated harshly by some people in the secret annex people would yell at her call her spoiled lazy and was always telling her what to do. But some people treated her nicely like Peter VanDaan and her dad in a way that made her feel loved by some people around her. Anne was a twelve year old girl when she was forced into hiding because she was a Jew in Nazi territory during WW2. Anne is treated by the people in the annex in many ways and that effects her character in such a way that changes her character.
As time passed many historical events that occurred outside the annex influenced the mood and relationships of the character’s
In the late 1930s and early 1940s the world experienced very traumatic events. Adolf Hitler comes to power in Germany. He banned all political parties, except the Nazis. Two of the families that were affected by his changes were the Franks and the Van Daans. Anne Frank was a member of the Frank family. Her family and the Van Daans experienced what was happening personally. During the time that she was forced to go into hiding, she kept a diary with her. The diary has become very important item for learning about the events that happened. Historical events are reflected in the play “The Diary of Anne Frank” by showing how what’s happening in the outside world affects the families that have had to go into hiding.
The holocaust, beginning in January 1933 until May 1945, was the prosecution of over six million Jews in Germany. The Nazi's, who came into power in 1933, truly believed that the Germans were 'racially superior', and that the Jews were a threat to their community. By the end of the holocaust, the Nazi's had killed almost two out of every three jews as part of their 'final solution'. Millions of Jews went into hiding during these disastrous years, in particular the Frank family. Annelies Frank, along with her family have one of the most terrifying yet truly incredible stories from the holocaust event.
The Diary of Anne Frank is a remarkably moving book about the short life of a young girl and her family. The Holocaust was a horrible time for Jewish people and Anne and her Jewish family’s lives were completely turned upside down as a result. The war resulted in the deaths of countless people, mostly innocent people. Before the invasion on D-day and the end of the war not too long after, the rest of the world didn’t know the real disaster going on over seas. Anne Frank’s once secret diary has introduced the immense suffering and horror that occurred during the Holocaust.
What do you think your life would have been like if you were in the Holocaust? It may seem like a terrible situation, but one girl ,Anne Frank, seemed to always find the good in people. The last words in her diary were “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” These last famous words of Anne Frank let the world know that know matter what happens ,there is always good in people. Anne’s family faced many problems and fears in the annex. From, the diary, Anne left ,I agree with Anne’ quote. I am siding with Anne because Mr.Frank was selfless, trusting, generous, and willing. Mr.Frank cared and thought for other people. He is described by Anne’s quote even if he did go through some
Many people were hurt by Adolf Hitler's plans and one thing he achieved was killing six million Jewish people including children. Anne Frank and her family were one of them. They lived in a secret and tiny annex where Otto used to work. They started off just going to stay there for a few months till the Allied Forces could invade Holland but that didn’t work out. In the drama wrote by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett eight people crowded into annex for 2 long years not being able to go outside. Many historical events were impacted in the drama Anne Frank. Even though these problems took place outside of the secret annex it changed the mood and relationships of the character.
This literary work truly shows how Anne Frank was a martyr of racism and an insightful chronicler of her time period and place. The work also shows the typical adolescence of Anne Frank and her constant arguments with her mother in particular. It also deals with the day to day hiding she and her family went through. The only problem with the book is that the fact that Anne Frank rewrote her diary about two months before she was captured because she wanted her journal to be published after the war and she wanted to peruse a career in journalism. Therefore it is hard to tell what existed in her original copy and how much did she add afterwards.
Thesis: Today I will discuss the young and short life of one of the most well known Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Anne Frank was acknowledged for her quality of writing. Her diary is one of the world’s most widely read books and there has been many plays and films written on the basis of her story.
