History has bared through many conquerors, good and bad, honorable and corrupt, weak and insane, but through all of this came something of superiority. Civilizations rise and fall like the tides of the ocean and conquerors change positions like the phases of the moon. There will always be points when society must suffer through the worst in order to peak at the top and progress over these spans of time. It is the ones who bring these evolutions across the eras that earn the titles of the people, the leaders, who shall be remembered. With each and every one one of these leaders comes something new, an addition, an expansion, an enhancement, to the past, present, and future of this world. The golden age of Alexander the Great brought an extensive amount of influences, improvements, and times of bliss into our history. Alexander III had began at a young age to conquer the civilizations surrounding Macedon. Upon his arrival, he treated the people of Egypt with immense respect compared to what had been done before. Rather than being a cruel conqueror, Alexander was thought of as more of a savior to the Egyptians. At the time, they had been under the rule of Persia. When Alexander entered the city, he showed much respect to their religion and culture. Egyptians thought this was exceptional and decided that he should become their new Pharaoh. As the new Pharaoh, he visited the Oracle of Amon to seek the truth about his future success and himself. The priests of the Oracle greeted
Alexander III of Macedon also known as, Alexander the Great, made a name for himself many years ago but today his “greatness” is being questioned because of research conducted due to modern technology. In order for someone to be viewed as great, they would need lots of evidence supporting that they were a well-rounded person. I believe that alexander had rightfully earned this title because through my research I have only found evidence that Alexander was indeed a man of greatness. Although Alexander displayed many characteristics of greatness there are three that have stood out me, his strategy, selflessness, and influence. These reasons show clear support that Alexander was Great and never anything less.
Ethical, articulate, forceful, cynical, irreverent and sometimes scathing aptly describes Antonin Scalia. Esteemed to be the only son of S. Eugene and Catherine Scalia, born in Trenton, New Jersey and raised in Queens, New York, Antonin Scalia is the first American of Italian heritage to serve on the United States Supreme Court.
Alexander had been taught many things from a very young age such as academic subjects, politics, sports, and warfare which made him think very highly of himself. His father Philip of Macedonia made an extremely strong army and took over many Greek polises and wanted to take over the Persian Empire. This struck Alexander’s aspiration to take over the Persian Empire as well. Alexander then inherited his father’s kingdom at the age of 18 after his father
Alexander III of Macedon, or as commonly known by the infamous name of Alexander the Great, had a dream of circumnavigating the world to finally see the ocean from both sides of the world. There were obstacles that were in between the objective of his conquest, other civilizations that were very foreign to his people. As commonly done in this current era of the world, the civilizations were conquered in order to improve on to the current state of another one’s empire. Alexander the Great had intentions that were simple, to civilize the foreign nations and to leave a long lasting legacy under his name. This task was not easy where he had to explore the middle east, encounter the challenges that he had to go through, and exchange his model of a perfect society to the conquered nations.
The main difference about Alexander the Great from other people is that he hated to be called a conqueror because he believed conquerors are cruel and do unnecessary punishments. He was not that kind of leader, he only believed in punishment if you resisted his demands. After the Battle of Issus, Alexander respected King Darius and ultimately didn’t take his throne. The liberator took over the city of Tyre where the Phoenicians lived. He wasn’t as kind to this city, they resisted and tried to fight back.
Alexander the Great ruled his kingdom as a king that had tunneled his skills and had a good deal of experience in the past. He was thankful that his father, Philip, gave him the best teachers
Through many history books and writings, many historians write about Phillip III, or most commonly known as Alexander the Great. Maybe because of how successful he was or maybe just because of how he had such a major impact in history. They tend to focus on the advantages he created, and the success Alexander the Great had as a leader not just in the military aspect of his reign, but also as a leader in the political side. The history shows the impacts and changes brought from the military, from which Alexander the Great lead, and the spreading of Greek culture he influenced through the areas he conquered. As Alexander the Great dedicated his life to further advancing his power, the world would never be same at the time for surrounding villages and empires that tried to defend their land against Alexander the Great with his army and allies.
Throughout the history of humanity, there have been countless leaders, conquerors, kings, or people of note. They are all noteworthy because of their achievements, or maybe their lack of achievements in a time where history was being made. These men and women are remembered because they accomplished something worth remembering. One of the most polarizing characters of the ancient world is Alexander of Macedonia, better known as simply Alexander the Great. With a name like that, one knows that Alexander must have done something during his lifetime that would still be remembered centuries later. What made Alexander so extraordinary is just how driven he was, how he conquered most of the known world by the time he was thirty-two. Alexander wanted to seize the Macedonian throne, unite many people under one rule, exact revenge on Persia, and to take more land for his nation. He may not have achieved all his goals before his untimely death, but he accomplished so much that his legacy has lived on for thousands of years, and will continue to live on for thousands more.
Alexander the Great was born from King Philip II of Macedonia and Olympias, princess of Epirus in 365 BCE. At a young age Alexander was taught by Aristotle. He taught Alexander politics, sports, warfare, as well as academic subjects. When King Philip was assassinated in 336 BCE, Alexander inherited his father’s army and empire. Using his outstanding knowledge, and his father’s great army, Alexander was able to conquer a great amount of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Alexander was substantially great considering he protected his empire, motivated his troops, and impacted cultural spread(ww).
Many people fail to realize that Alexander has had a definite affect on us today, although not as great as he would have had on people of the past. In most parts the world today, Alexander The Great is considered a legend; however, in some places, Alexander is considered a god. One of the most notable people in history, Alexander has reached an iconic status in our world today. He possibly may have even been referred to in the Quran (Surah 18:89-98). There are still many stories told about him including folktales, and movies. In modern Iran, Alexander is still known as an evil king who nearly destroyed the ancient Persian culture and religion. Although the effect of “Alexander Mania” has died down since the time of his reign, you can still see the mark that he has left on today’s world.
Alexander the Great, regarded as one of the greatest leaders of the ancient world. Alexander was an extraordinary military leader, he had the knowledge and skills to become a great leader due to the teachings of Aristotle, one of the greatest philosophers known to man. Alexander had everything in the ancient world, he was young, he was a king, and had one of the biggest empires known to man. Alexander influenced the ancient world in many ways, Hellenization being the most important one. Alexander is a big influence to the world today. Alexander’s military tactics and politics are just some of his influences in today's world. At the age of 32, Alexander died from an unknown cause.
In history Alexander the Great is always one of the topics to learn, and one of the most asked question is what did Alexander do to be so great. Alexander might have been born great to achieve greatness or have greatness thrust upon him and this one of the reasons we still talk about him today. Alexander the Great took the crown at the age of 20. When he was only 13 Alexander tamed a horse that no one else could ride that was named Bucephalus which impressed his father. At the age of 16 he was a horseman and went to war, riding his horse that no one was able to ride on. Alexander the Great was born in Pella (capital of Macedonia) on July 20, 356 B.C and died from a fever in Babylon on June 323 B.C. After the assassination of Philip II in 336 B.C his son Alexander inherited one of the most powerful armies in the world and started an invasion attack in Persia. Alexander defeated his rival King Darius of Persia during the Battle of Issus in 333 B.C completing his father's dream and becoming a great leader. Through his schooling with his tutor Aristotle, Aristotle philosophy helped him achieve invading attacks his father couldn’t accomplish and giving him a chance to “admire and maintain these disparate cultures” (Jarus). Alot was accomplished by Alexander after he had died and for that he was known to be great. Even when he died because of a fever his people wanted to believe it was caused by alcohol poisoning or asassianly-poisoning. He had defeated
