Alexander the Great, despite being leader for a relatively brief period of time, was an extremely influential leader, who is still widely referenced to and discussed today. Even though he only ruled from the years 356-323, he has clearly influenced popular culture and is still looked up to as a leader. He, similar to his father Phillip, endured their fair share of controversy and public attention, like most influential leaders. For example, Carol G Thomas in the book Alexander the Great in His World discusses his powerful figure in Macedonia at the time, and the things that went on to shape him as a leader and a person. One of Alexander’s biggest mentors and influences was his father Phillip.

Alexander the Great is a name learned by every student in history class. He has clearly made his mark on history. Although everyone knows his name, many do not know what he did and how much of an impact he had on the world. Alexander III was truly great and showed the world that he could live up to his name. Alexander III of Macedonia was born in the middle of July in the year 356 BC in a macedonian city called Pella.

Alexander the Great was the ruler of Macedonia from 336-323 B.C. He is considered the greatest military genius of the ancient world. During his rule he expanded his empire, making him the most powerful man in the world. Alexander made an extreme impact on the world by mixing eastern and western cultures. He was a man with great self-confidence one who was a great military leader, but really how ‘great’ was he?

Alexander the Great was often referred to as one of the most influential and the greatest leader of the world has ever seen. He achieved a great deal in his governance role and military voyages. In a span of twelve years, Alexander was able to take control of the Persian Empire, defeat Egypt and a large part of the Middle East. Alexander enjoyed the finest education of that time, moulding him into a leader that his father, Phillip II who was “The Greek philosopher Aristotle” and he helped to expand his son knowledge in science and philosophy of the modern world.

Alexander the Great is known to be one of the greatest generals in the history of the world. He also had excellent leadership abilities, which he demonstrated through the creation of a large empire that encompassed Macedonia, Greece, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Persia and stopped at the Indus River Valley. He spread the Hellenistic culture around the Middle Eastern areas and helped keep the knowledge of the Greek philosophers known to the rest of the world. He influenced the world by uniting many areas under a similar culture. He also left a lasting impact in history that influenced and changed the ancient world. Alexander the Great is a one of the most successful leaders and conquers of his period. Alexander dominated with the most powerful military with knowledge of all new advanced technology. The commander conquered Syria, Egypt and Mesopotamia. He used different types of strategies that influenced others later. He was a strong leader, but every leader has their downfall and makes mistakes.

Alexander III or Macedon was a man who was political and has military talents, he was also tutored by Aristotle when he was younger. After the king was murdered, Alexander took control of the kingdom and even though there was no evidence of involvement, many Macedonians suspected that Alexander had been a part of the plot. Alexander the Great had impacts of three major conquests, the Hellenistic world and the legacy of his empire which were all in Persia, India and Egypt.

He conquered most of the Mediterranean world and spread Greek influence and culture throughout. Alexander is considered to be one of the most highly respected generals in history. While Alexander was an intelligent and strong general, his true magnificence and legacy was in the expansion of Greek culture. He should be someone that everyone learns about because he had so many achievements and was such a smart and powerful ruler despite his young age. “He is regarded as one of history’s brilliant military leaders and most powerful rulers” (Fogarty).

The term bureaucracy was coined by a well-known sociologist named Max Weber in 1947. He used this term to describe corporations that held five main characteristics. These characteristics include, hierarchical authority structure, a division of labor, written rules, written communications and records, and impersonality and replaceability. In the modern day world, it is easy to see several bureaucracies in place, however, one bureaucracy that is personally close to all Grand Canyon University students is the institution of Grand Canyon University (GCU). This is a great example of a bureaucracy due to the fact that it embraces all five characteristics of a bureaucracy.
