One way or another, we’ve all gone through coaching, whether we knew it at that time or not, or you might have used coaching to improve a person's performance, without even knowing it as well. It’s a valuable way of developing people's skills, abilities and boosting performance. It can also assist curbing issues or challenges beforehand. A coaching session typically takes place as a two-way conversation between the coach and the coachee and focuses on helping the coachee discover answers for themselves. It’s impressive that at OBW, coaching is considered to be a positive and proven approach for helping others explore their goals and ambitions, and then finally achieve them.

Both coach and coachee need to agree on the ultimate goal, be it restoring interactions across organizational boundaries or any other issue that may arise in the organisation and unfortunately, few people in need of coaching exhibit only one worrying behaviour at a time.

I think it is safe to say that the coach has several roles to perform; with the main objective being to develop the person being coached. This can be achieved by increasing self-confidence, identifying relevant and suitable topics for coaching as well as agreeing the setting of suitable planned tasks to support the learning process.
* Coaching This is a process that supports and enables an individual to unlock and maximise their own potential, to develop and improve performance. Coaching helps the individual to learn rather than be taught. Coaching believes the individual is best to take responsibility for own actions and solutions with subtle guidance and prompts. After the interview, priorities for action are established along with specific desired outcomes. Individuals may also be asked to complete specific action items in a certain period of time that support the achievement of desired goals. Resources may also be provided such as articles, checklists and assessments.
A coach or mentor can help to give guidance and support as challenges are faced, assisting staff in negotiating challenging situations with increased confidence.

One definition of coaching is “Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their own performance.” (Coaching for performance, Sir John Whitmore 1992). Or to expand on this; Simply defined, coaching is one person guiding another through a process, leading to performance enhancement. The applications can vary, support to achieve a specific project, helping an individual to do better what they already do well, or developing a skill they don't yet possess.
When someone is first introduced to coaching it is important that the coach gives an overview of the coaching process and the role of a coach within this. It is important to set the ground rules and all both parties to meet expectations set.
The use of coaching by individuals and organizations has increased rapidly in last decade. As role of coaching is growing over the time, so has the need to find ways of assuring quality of the coaching services being provided. Coaching supervision is an essential part for continuous professional development of coaches. It’s the essential link between theory and coaching practice, the main source of assuring quality, to mitigate the risks may inherent in coaching. It can also help to increase the return on an investment in coaching and to provide evidence of that return.
Both Coach Simms and coachee John have agreed that coaching is an appropriate and needed intervention to cooperatively address and resolve the challenge with opportunities for improving skills.
What is coaching – “The coach works with the clients to achieve a speedy, increased and sustainable effectiveness in their lives and careers through focused learning. The coach’s sole aim is to work with the client to achieve all of the client’s potential-as defined by the client” The Coaching Manual Starr, J 2008.
Coaching is the art of facilitating another person’s learning, development and performance. Through coaching people are able to find their own solutions, develop their own skills and change their own behaviors and attitudes.
The relationship between an athlete and a coach is an unique and (humble??) one. It’s all about learning, growing, and overcoming failures to its successes. About looking forward to the future together in the game and beyond the life of sports. The interaction between them should be upheld and agreed upon, to be held together. They are the most influential character of the competitive environment. I believe in the value of a coach.
It is important that early on in the coaching relationship ownership of the problem or opportunity passes to the employee. For this reason language such as, "here is what I would like you to do," should be replaced by, "how would you like to address this?" Assumptions of deeply committed self-management from an employee with low self-esteem, however, are akin to building a house on quicksand.
Being a leader has many advantages and disadvantages. Could coaching an employee be helpful for all involved? Being in a management position there is the need to be the devil’s advocate and approaching employees in a delicate manner to engage in the conversation that something issues need to change. These are items will be addressed in this essay for anyone who is in or is planning on being in a managerial role. My experiences with my professional coaching sessions were very challenging to say the least. When I decided to begin graduate school, I never imagined I would be coaching my peers and they would be coaching me during my first quarter. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the experience and I learned a lot while participating. In my circle of friends, I am the one always handing out advice whether it is solicited or not. Because of this, I assumed these sessions would come natural to me. However, I learned by me forcing my opinion and advise on others I was trying to control them. Whitmore (2009), states
