Adult Health Care Center: A Case Study

At an Adult Health Care Center for patient’s with mental disabilities, activities for the whole day are provided. Exercises, physical therapy occupational therapy rehabilitation and medication administration are a few things to mention in the operation. I know of this because I’ve obtained my initial experiences as an RN working in one. Additionally, I would assess the patients individually and would help them with their medications, along with checking their vitals signs, blood sugar level etc. on a daily basis. I would also ask them a set of questions everyday, questions that are pertaining to their mental status of course. It’s become inevitable at times that I would meet a client with family mental health issues involved.

I had client who has bipolar d/o and depression. She would tell me the details and her activities of her day to day life. She was divorced and lives with her sister’s family. Often times she would update me of her doctor visits. Her primary care physician would prescribe her anti-anxiety medications that she would have to take everyday. Per …show more content…

Also, the adult day healthcare provides her with rehabilitation and activities Monday through Friday. This process is almost similar to all of the patients within the center and all of the reports for their assessment in a week will be given to their primary care physicians.

There are a few challenges a practitioner will face when dealing with mental health patient’s and the attitude plus the approach, that a medical professional will show them can make an impact. (Knapik, G. & Graor, C. 2013). I believe that there will be no difference between an RN and APRN in handling situations like these.
