In episode 11 of the serial podcast, Adnan is questioned by Sarah regarding a minor theft that occurred before Hae’s murder. Even though Adnan admitted he did wrong by stealing from the mosque, it is not incriminating to conclude that he is a bad person of character. Ali is an individual who was very close friends with Adnan at the time he was helping out at the mosque. Ali described Adnan as a person with good standings. The crime that was committed at the mosque was a small petty theft. A witnessed to wished to remain anonymous stated to Sarah “I witnessed Adnan steal up to thousands of dollars at a time”. It is impossible to conclude that an individual is capable of committing murder, by solely examining a minor theft crime. The theft was
Adnan Syed, senior at Woodlawn High School, was accused of the murder of his ex girlfriend Hae Min Lee and has been locked up for about 16 years now. Picture this, it’s the beginning of second semester, Adnan’s senior year, and his girlfriend has gone missing a month after their breakup. Who’s to blame? The only reasonable suspect would be the “jealous” Muslim ex boyfriend that was upset about her new boyfriend, or perhaps just simply wanted revenge on her for breaking up with him, or was just a psychopath all along. Having jealousy, wanting revenge, being a psychopath or just having extremely bad luck, whatever it was, caused him to get put behind bars for a crime that he is not guilty of.
The criminal justice system is meant to protect the innocent, and punish those who are guilty of a crime. However, no system is perfect, and as a result, sometimes the innocent become victims of the system that was meant to protect them. How exactly do these innocent people become victims of the system? Sometimes the person gets framed, and the crime scene is staged to point a finger at them. Sometimes, there is no strong physical evidence against them, yet circumstantial evidence is used by the crown to put them away. This happened to a 17 year old boy named Adnan Syed in Baltimore, Maryland, who was imprisoned for life, for the alleged murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Lee. Throughout the Serial podcast, Sarah Koenig is able to critically analyze information which proves Adnan’s innocence. Firstly, Asia’s letters gave Adnan an alibi for the time of the murder. Secondly, Adnan’s innocence can be demonstrated through the lack of any strong evidence and the prosecution’s use of circumstantial evidence which can be disproved. Thirdly, Jay’s constantly changing testimony is not credible evidence of Adnan’s guilt, making him innocent.
We believe that Jay is guilty. In the next five minutes we will prove to you that Adnan is in fact innocent and why Jay should be in jail. Adnan was close friends with Jay’s girlfriend Stephanie which is what we believe Jay’s motive was to murder Hae. The court convicted Adnan of the murder with the motive of being jealous of Hae’s new relationship. We argue that the motive of jealousy was what made Jay kill Hae Min Lee.
Adnan Syed, a senior in Woodlawn High School, was convicted and charged with the first-degree murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee in 1999. Not only is Adnan’s alibi inconclusive, but he also fails to recall any specific details or occurrences of January 13th-the date Hae Min Lee disappeared. His acquaintance, Jay Wilds, has served as the State’s key witness. Despite having already served seventeen years in prison, Adnan did not murder Hae Min Lee. His innocence simply has not been captured due to missing perspectives, inconsistencies in Jay’s story, and biases in the law enforcement.
Adnan is probably innocent because the only solid evidence is Jay’s inconsistent testimony. The first evidence is the police audio when the first audio played jay mentions that he Adnan were at on the mall and the other audio mentions that they were at a different mall. And the second evidence is the court tapes when Adnan lawyer is questioning jay and changes his answers at the moment when jay was at the stage. And last evidence is Jay’s lack of memory because hard to believe that he forgot the day/night that he saw a dead body for the first time (Hae Min Lee’ Body)
Adnan Syed was a golden boy to people; he was smart and loved by everyone. He never thought he’d be convicted of his ex-girlfriend’s murder, neither did anyone else. In fact, when he first received a call from the cops regarding Hae’s disappearance he brushed it off, more scared at that fact that he was high on marijuana and talking to a police officer. He thought Hae had just ran off to California, just like everyone else. However, when they found her body in a park notorious for being a body dump his whole world turned upside down. Soon after this a friend of his, Jay, confessed to the police into helping Adnan with Hae’s murder which then put Adnan behind bars. However, was Jay’s testimony true? Unfortunately Adnan’s case has many flaws and lies to it, and the true answer still remains; is Adnan Syed actually innocent or guilty all along?
or something. And I sat down next to him. We starting chatting,” by Asia Mclean. This piece of evidence gives Adnan an abili to where he was after school and it causes us to believe that he couldn’t have killed Hae. The final piece of evidence Adnan and how he was during the
Adnan Syed is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend, and various factors present him as a very likely suspect. Information put together by the state don’t add up, but instead prove he is innocent. Is Adnan guilty or innocent for his ex-girlfriend’s death? In the Serial Podcast, journalist Sarah Koenig discusses the case, committed almost seventeen years ago, and uncovers new evidence that indicates Adnan’s innocence. Adnan Syed has been viewed as a boyfriend, honor roll student, and a murderer. Many described him as a smart, flirtatious, and a likable high schooler. On January 13, 1999, his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, was murdered. Investigators immediately assumed Adnan as the primary suspect because Hae had broken up with him, a month
Of the 93% of women that were murdered by men that they knew, 63% were an intimate acquaintance (Wyman). Throughout the podcast called “Serial”, producer Sarah Koenig gives her take on the murder of Hae Min Lee. She was murdered on January 13, 1999 in Baltimore, Maryland. Adnan Syed was convicted of murder and is currently serving a life sentence. Now, Adnan is receiving a retrial. Jay, an acquaintance of Adnan’s, testifies that Adnan is guilty allowing him to not receive a sentence. Jay’s knowledge of the location of Hae’s car is further supported by Adnan’s lack of recognition of events on the day Hae was murdered, which shows Adnan killed Hae
Adnan Syed is innocent. I believe this because one, everyone says things that don’t make sense or don’t add up. Two, how could Adnan do this if he cared for Hae as much as he says he does? Three, every time it seems like the blame should fall on Adnan, people doubt that he’s not the one to blame. First, Adnan Syed is innocent in my eyes because all of his witnesses say different things and things that don’t add up. For example, almost all of the witnesses said a lot of “he was probably there”, and “from what I can recall”. Next, Adnan cares and wants the best for Hae, so why would he kill her? Adnan stated that he just wanted her to be happy that’s all he cared about, does that sound like a murder to you? Lastly, there’s too much doubt on
In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s Europe was becoming a tinder box for a possible great war. Every country was extremely determined on spreading their empires. Additionally they began to form alliances, France with England and Germany with Austria-Hungry. Then on June 28th 1914 a Bosnian-Serb nationalist assassinated the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife practically igniting Europe and the world into a massive war. This assassination was viewed as an act of war and Russia came in to assist their ally Serbia. Germany naturally had to declare war on Russia to help Austria-Hungry. France and England then joined in to assist Russia.
There has been a lot of speculation and internal conflict as to who committed Hae’s murder. At some points, I thought that surely Adnan had done it. However at other points, there was no way that he had killed her. Based on the lack of physical evidence against him, I do not believe that Adnan committed the murder.
everal secret locations in different cities. On July 11, one ill captive was released. Meanwhile, the ongoing hostage crisis was costing President Carter the support of his people and some of his advisors ncluding Secretary of State Cyrus Vance, who had opposed the rescue. Carter later lost his reelection bid to former
As stated in the previous paragraph there was one event that caused mass outbreaks of chaos and fear let us take a look at that catastrophic event that caused an even more catastrophic war. Let’s go back to June 28th of 1914. We are in a country known as Serbia where the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife are assassinated by a Serbian Secret Society known as “The Black Hand”. Over the course of hundreds of years’ tension had been growing and piling up, it was this assassination that sparked the fuse that led up to the catastrophic World War One. After the Assassination the world found itself divided apart against each other but what we didn’t know was that we were all together as one sitting in the belly of the beast.
Should anybody be assassinated because of his thoughts, beliefs or there ways of doing things ? Well Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated at 5:17 pm on January 30, 1948 in New Delhi, India. His assassin was named Nathuram Vinayak Godse. He was a right wing advocate of Hindu nationalist who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi shooting him in the chest three times at point blank range. He assassinated him because of his non violence protest and his way of saying and doing things. The assassination of Mahatma Gandhi was unjust because he engaged in civil disobedience and he was trying to fight for India's independence from British rule; however some people believe he was being self righteous.
