To Kill or Not To Kill

“The boys with their feet on the desks know that the easiest murder case in the world to break is one somebody tried to get very cute with; the one that really bothers them is the murder somebody only thought of two minutes before he pulled it off.”-(Raymond Chandler) This quote exemplifies many murder cases. I believe that many murderers plan to kill just before the murder actually happens. By people not planning their murders, it will most likely make the case much harder to resolve and much more interesting. Most people don’t plan to kill anyone. It’s just not in human nature. In this case, Adnan Syed was convicted in the murder of Hae Min Lee. In my opinion, I believe Adnan Syed is guilty of murdering Hae Min …show more content…

Usually if you don’t remember anything from a criminal case, you would be considered a very questionable suspect. By not remembering anything from the day of the murder, it makes Adnan more suspicious and more likely that he committed the murder. He is the only one who doesn’t remember anything from the day of the murder. Everyone that Sarah Koenig talked to in the podcast remembered at least something from the actual day of the murder. This makes Adnan seem more guilty. Maybe Adnan is lying and actually does remember details from the murder day. He could also just simply not remember anything. The more reliable option is that he is lying because how could someone not remember anything from a day that would stand out so much to someone like Adnan. Since Adnan was the former boyfriend of Hae, you would think that the day of her disappearance would stand out to Adnan. Another point that makes Adnan seem guilty is that after Hae disappeared, Adnan did not try to call her, not even once. That seems really suspicious. If his former girlfriend, who he still cares about, disappeared then he would be calling her, trying to find out where she is. But, since he didn’t try calling her, it seems that he knew what happened to her and why he didn’t try calling her. This point stands out to me and makes him seem …show more content…

Adnan claims he had his phone during this time, which there is no reasonable explanation for these pings other than Adnan being near Leakin park, which Adnan claims he wasn’t. This is another instance of Adnan lying about where he was and what he was doing. Another instance of Adnan lying is when he asks Hae for a ride. He claims that his car was not available and that it was in the shop at the time. He also later on claims that he never asked Hae for a ride although there are 2 credible sources that claim that they heard him ask her for a ride. Krista, a classmate and friend of both Adnan and Hae, claims that she remembers Adnan asking Hae for a ride on the morning of January 13, 1999. Becky, another friend and classmate of both Adnan and Hae, also remembers Adnan asking Hae for a ride after school. Another instance of Adnan lying is when he admits that he stole from the Mosque donations. Although he may have been a child, stealing from the church is one thing to never do. You don’t mess with the church, and especially stealing from the church, that is one thing to never do. This incident also happened more than a few times. This means Adnan is an instigator of trouble, and that he can easily lie. There are multiple instances of Adnan lying and his evidence not matching
