Elizabeth Kolbert’s Field Notes from a Catastrophe was my first in-depth look into climate change, global warming, and the contribution of humans to these things. Global warming was something I vaguely knew about before reading this book, but it never really caught my attention or seemed like a major issue in the world. After reading Field Notes from a Catastrophe, I realized that it is in fact a major issue that must be addressed by every community. In this essay I will argue that it is our job as the human race to do all that we can to take care of our planet and reduce the amount of global warming that humans are responsible for. This essay is significant because this is our world.
Saukko’s writing is very effective; Saukko’s story is entertaining and wrote in interesting ways for reader want to continue reading her essay. Even though she uses satire and irony often throughout her essay, we can still comprehend the issue is serious matter. she’s trying to speak. Ehrlich’s writing urges people to do things that can slow down global warming effects, and prevent more harm to ecosystem. Gawande’s article helps me to understand that pollution not only can damage the earth, but pollutions can have direct effects on humans as well. Saukko’s essay shows us many ways planet can get poisoned; her essay helps the reader to think about what we can do to prevent more pollution to dump upon the earth. Even though, people cannot do much, but we can all take part and take responsibility on improving the environment. Saukko provided detail descriptions with truths on how the planet can take its toll if environment constantly being damaged via pollutions.
The acid rain eventually falls back into our rivers, streams and wells where we intern drink it and this is where the danger begins. The film gave various examples of different places that suffered greatly by contaminated water. The one that stood out most was Lago Titicaca a river found in Bolivia that was contaminated by blood it was devastating to see the people’s main stream in blood red because of the ignorance of the people.

Summary of Anne La Bastille Anne La Bastille, a woman of many talents, informs us of her experience with acid rain and how it is harming our planet. It’s not only in the United States, where she lives along Black Bear Lake, but all over the world. In the article, Death From the Sky, in Reading the Environment, Labastille was “puzzled over the changes” to the lake she had lived on for years. La Bastille started to notice changes to the lake beginning with fewer and fewer fisherman each year. She writes the “the trout were disappearing”.
This paper is a detailed interpretation of the movie The Day After Tomorrow. I will be thoroughly going through this movie and how it connects with my personal philosophy of nature. This movie is a representation of Global Warming and the drastic effects that it can have on this Earth. Although the movie might be greatly over-exaggerated, it is meant to stir the audience and conjure up emotions and feelings of wanting to change. I would never want to see the world come to that much turmoil, which is why there is an urgency to act now before we see our world destroyed. Bunker fuel is a type of liquid fuel, which is fractionally distilled from crude oil (Geek, 2015). According to the oil industry’s material data sheets, the oil is a complex blend of hydrocarbons derived from various refinery streams, usually residue from the oil refinery processes (Wagstaffe, 2015). In comparison with petroleum products, bunker fuel causes high pollution and is extremely rough. When bunker fuel is burned, it releases sulphur and nitrogen into the atmosphere. These oxides then combine with water in the atmosphere and form acids, which is classified as ‘acid rain’. Generally, acid rain has not been a problem in Australia, but issues have been raised with acidic rain in industrial areas (high levels of sulphur oxides and nitrogen).

Acid Rain Within this past century, acidity of the air and acid rain have become recognized as one of the leading threats to our planet’s environment. No longer limited by geographic boundaries, acid causing emissions are causing problems all over the world. Some laws have been passed which limit the amount of pollutants that are released into the air, but tougher legislation must be implemented before this problem can be overcome. Acid rain is produced, when automobiles, smelters, power plants, and other industrial factories burn fossil fuels such as gasoline, coal, and fuel oils.
The town’s natural resources must provide a source of food, shelter, and energy. Once the students have finished their town creations, we will hang them and have students explain them. Next, we will hand out greenhouse gas explanation sheets and go over some of the basic types of emissions, and discuss which ones might be produced by each town. This segment of our lesson is particularly important because it gets students thinking about how the actions of their local communities can have a big impact on the environment. In our last lesson component we will show students pictures of different ecosystems and have them decide whether these sources contribute to pollution, and if so, how they can be reduced. This will serve as both a summative assessment of students’ knowledge and a call to action to help protect the local environment.

The world we live in today has become a nest for pollution, toxic waste and environmental deterioration. In order to improve our planet, acid rain is a main factor to be considered and must be controlled before the damage worsens.
