Summary of Anne La Bastille
Anne La Bastille, a woman of many talents, informs us of her experience with acid rain and how it is harming our planet. It’s not only in the United States, where she lives along Black Bear Lake, but all over the world. In the article, Death From the Sky, in Reading the Environment, Labastille was “puzzled over the changes” to the lake she had lived on for years.
La Bastille started to notice changes to the lake beginning with fewer and fewer fisherman each year. She writes the “the trout were disappearing”. At first she was only shocked by the changes, but then during each rainstorm she started to collect samples. A normal pH reading is 7, “a normal rain and snow is pH 5.7”, but her, “readings were way low.”
In Lanval, one of Marie De France’s twelve Lais, she demonstrates a narrative poem about love and lust set in medieval times. Her short, romantic tale narrates a knight’s love affair with a maiden that is so beyond beautiful that she surpasses all earthly splendors. Lanval, a knight who sat at King Arthur’s Round Table, is the center of Marie’s story and is envied by all the other men and hated for his gallantry, kindness, attraction and courage. The poem’s location is based in the feudal town of Carlisle.
Throughout the Lais of Marie de France there are several themes presented as central to the various stories. Some of these themes are present in all of the lais. One such example is that of courtly love and it's implications. Courtly love being one of the more prominent themes in all of medieval literature, it is fittingly manifested in all of the lais as well. Another theme present in two of the lais is isolation. The theme of isolation plays a large role in the stories of Guigemar and Lanval. In each of these lais we see isolation as a factor in determining the fates of the central figures. Within each lai isolation is represented on several different occasions, each time having a direct impact on the outcome. These instances of

After testing the pH of the water when being added to the soil for the desired amount of time and comparing it to the original water with no soil added, is then when each pH difference was observed and recorded in a a notebook, while pictures were taken of the experiment being conducted.

Thesis: Marie Antoinette may have been queen at a young age, but it was certainly short lived. As a social, outgoing, and energetic young woman, she was completely different from her shy, inconsistent, pre-chosen husband. She spent an irrational amount of money that lead to her reputation’s ultimate downfall. As time went on the king and queen were captured and when they tried to escape, they would just be captured again. King Louis’ indecisiveness and Marie’s recklessness ultimately caused them their lives.
