Your Opinions Ends Where My Choice Begins
In the past years, abortion has been one of the biggest topics of discussion. Many people of different backgrounds views abortion or expulsion of a fetus to be murder. Why should anyone who has not faced this decision voice their opinion on a situation that does not affect them? A woman is entitled to make her own decisions regarding to her body. Abortion should be justified because it is her body, she has to live with the outcome, and she might not be mentally or emotionally stable to care for a child. What if it was you, your wife, mother, daughter, sister, or a woman that is very important to you having to face this? Would you be Pro-Life then? Every human being is in charge of their body; therefore,

She would have to base the decision on what is best for her. There are many reasons a woman would choose abortion. A woman might not be stable to face her child knowing that he or she came into world through the result of rape. Also a woman health might be at risk if the child is born and might cause her to lose her life. A woman might choose abortion because the failure of her contraceptive. Abortion could be the outcome to prevent the birth of a child who would have severe medical issues or birth defects. A woman could also choose abortion because her health could be endangering with severe physical or mental state. If you knew about these risks would you still want the woman to bring a child in the …show more content…
There are reasons for this being. One example is a woman who is pregnant before prison might choose abortion because it would be emotional for her to give it to DHS or to someone of next kin but not trustworthy. She would be emotional knowing that she is not in her child life, that her child might not be protected, or that a child will grow up struggling and might end up in prison just like her. Another example could be a woman who is not mentally stable to carry a child and feels her child life would be at the danger if she was to bring him or her into the world. Can you see abortion as an option if means peace for a child at
People make mistakes, it is a part of life. A mistake could be accidentally becoming impregnated, not by choice. Forcing a woman to carry on a pregnancy that she does not want, is cruel and should be considered inhumane. Children should enter the world being loved and wanted. That will not happen if a woman feels resentful towards her baby. An unwanted baby is prone to neglect and child abuse. Babies coming into the world unwanted has a list of consequences. It is possible that the child will start showing behavioral problems, poor social competence, low adaptive functioning, and more. Statistics show that deaths while giving birth is 14 times higher than deaths from an abortion. If abortion was illegal everywhere, the amount of illegal abortions would be skyrocketing. That causes more harm to the mother and the baby. Roe, or Norma McCorvey, is a perfect example of why abortion should be legal. That is why Roe v. Wade is such a landmark case in the United States. Motherhood should be taken extremely serious because we all know that how you raise your children is how they will grow up and will affect the decisions they
Such as rape. Imagine the Mother would have to get up every morning during pregnancy, and the baby reminding her off the rape. When the baby is born, every day that she sees the baby it will remind of it. The baby will grow up ot knowing who it’s father is. So in my opinion if this person is getting an abortion it would be fair. Also there are other reasons, such as the abortion may be the better of two evils; for example the baby will have a terrible disorder and suffer. The mother may have a family depending on her, and if she has this baby her life will be in danger, and cause her family to be in a very difficult
Activist outsider claimsmakers such as the Republican and Democratic party have opposing views on whether abortion should be legalized. The Democratic party mostly supports the insider claimsmaker’s “Pro-choice” movement, which is for abortion. While the Republican party mostly backs the insider claimsmaker’s “Pro-life” movement, which opposes the abortion laws (David). The Pro-life movement advocates that the abortion laws pose a grave threat to society, thus deeming them a social issue. The Pro-life movement uses women’s abuse of the abortion law and lack of consistent regulation from the clinical procedure itself to education on the procedure throughout the United States as grounds for the abortion laws being deemed a social problem.
Even though Christie did not mention the claim in her article, I’m sure she would agree with Lee and George the better option for the child would be adoption instead of abortion (23). Next, Lee and George argue becoming pregnant in the result of rape is not a valid reason for aborting an unborn child. Lee and George state that a pregnancy may be unwanted but the baby is not posing any harm against the mother (24). Neither one of the other authors posed the statement in their articles but Traister would consider abortion to be an acceptable choice for a rape baby because the woman’s choice matters. Lastly, Lee and George argue the only valid reason for aborting an unborn child is when the mother’s life is in danger due to a medical emergency (21). For example if a pregnant women is diagnosed with uterine cancer then it is only right to remove the cancerous uterus along with the baby to save the woman’s life (21). This incidence would result in the baby’s death. Traister does mention in her article if she had to make a choice between her baby and her life, her rights to live would outweigh the rights of her unborn baby (Traister). This does seem selfish in my opinion but if you choose to die and allow the baby to live then the baby may not have a 100 percent survival rate. Christie does not address this claim in her article but since she is a doctor it is the ultimate goal to save the mother’s life during a medical emergency.
Many differences of opinion arise in regards to abortion, including the obvious “pro-life or pro-choice” question many people have defiant answers to. Abortion is a topic that most every person has a very strong, firm stance on, resulting in a worldwide debate of the matter. Differences of opinion persist within both movements. “Some pro-life activists may condone abortions in cases of rape or incest, while others take an uncompromising stance, believing that all abortion is murder” (“Abortion”). Most pro-life thinkers state that it is inhumane and immoral to abort a fetus under any circumstance, yet it is very important that the woman has the right to make her own decision based on her situation. If a woman needs to have an abortion, she
To begin with, there has always been a huge issue with the topic of abortion, why? Well, it’s a tough subject and can get extremely emotional and very defensive. Honestly, people just need to open up their eye’s and understand that it's murder and not just a choice. It is murder because two can create a blessing and the choice of aborting it, is more like a sacrifice for the reason a mother can’t carry a baby for nine months. Whether a person is a teen, young adult, or an adult and is in a horrible situation that believes they cannot proceed with the pregnancy, they should know there are other options. Teens aborting an unborn baby is not a choice and should be banned because it is wrong without parental consent, the rights of a child, and
Some women turn to having an abortion when scared and just a few don’t care about children and kill their child. Only if those women knew what the negative effects of having an abortion before they made their final decision. Woman should have the right to choose whether or not if they should go forward with the abortions with the knowledge of the negative effects. The negative effects about having an abortion are postpartum depression, damage to the organs, and highly complicated risks and if women knew these risks they’ll probably never have a abortion again.
American suffragist Elizabeth Cady Stanton once said, “When we consider that women are treated as property, it is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property to be disposed of as we see fit” (Jenson). The pro-life vs. pro-choice abortion debate has always been a controversial topic in politics as well as the field of women’s health care. Many on the pro-choice side of the issue cite a woman’s right to make decisions for her own body as justification to continue the practice of abortion. The pro-life argument is that a woman and her child are separate entities and should be treated as such. Although legally and socially accepted in the United States, abortion asserts that a mother’s right to terminate
If pregnancy was not in your plans, would abortion be an option? Although there are many debates surrounding abortion, the argument about the rights people feel that both the mother and the unborn child have, who has rights and why do they have them. One side of the debate goes that a woman owns her own body and has the right to do whatever she pleases to it.
Abortions are performed for many reasons. Those reasons many not always make sense, to some, and are simply escape goats for others selfish acts. Some of reasons are the inability to support a child, the desire to end an unwanted pregnancy, the result of unprotected sex and/or failed birth control and the result of rape or incest. Women who are victims of rape or incest may feel like it is their only option. I believe that abortion is a selfish act because there are other options such as adoption. Many women use abortion as a form of birth control.
For decades, there has been a discourse over the topic of abortion. Debates have been centered on whether the process should be legal or banned. As of 2015, some states and the U.S. Congress are attempting to ban abortion. Abortion is the process of removing an embryo, thus, ending a pregnancy. Women should have the option for a legal, safe abortion. Abortion may be a questionable practice but it should be available for unprepared mothers to rape victims.
First off, I would like to state that politics should not be allowed to be involved in whether or not an abortion is legal to do when the mother could be at risk, or if the child will only suffer after its birth. For instance if the child could be born with a severe disorder that could cause its death before, after, or has the possibility of future suffering because of said disorder after birth ( ) then the mother should have a choice to terminate the pregnancy if she believes that she would not be able to handle caring for a child with those ailments instead of being forced to go through with the pregnancy, like certain places in the U.S. because of the enforcement of certain laws that acting in those states. “There is no room for legislators in the exam room, and there is no space for politics in medical decisions . . . . Indiana now expects women who live here to experience them without trusting their doctor's knowledge and
All of us don’t when it’s going to happen. For some older people, the body weakens while the mind stays alert. But for other people they know in how many months they have but they don’t die, while a healthy young person has a car crash and dies from it. Death is something that many can’t explain what it is. One day you're here and the next day you're gone and can never be with family and friends again. End of life is a term used to describe the support and medical care given during the time surrounding death. Such care doesn’t happen just in the moments before breathing finally stops and a heart ceases to
The legalization of abortion has been a long debate since 1865 and is still being debated today. An abortion is a procedure to end a pregnancy. Many people believe that abortions should not be legalized because it is essentially killing a human being. Others believe that it is the right of the woman to choose whether or not to have an abortion and say abortions should be legal. Since an abortion involves the termination of a potential human life, it has been illegal through most of the U.S history. However, abortion continues to be legal today although it still generates raging debates over its legal and ethical viability.
There are many reasons as to why a woman may want to get an abortion, but those reasons may not make having an abortion ethical. Some reasons include rape, incest, not being financially able to support a child, having a disabled child, the pregnancy causing dangers to the woman’s health or simply not wanting to care for a child. If the woman has the child it may interfere
